Trying to do the "Tooth" triathlon, and our taco crawl, Bear Tooth Grill fit right into our plans. We arrived just after lunch and were promptly seated in what was clearly created by the same interior decorator for the Tooth family. Wanting to have tacos, we focused on that part of the menu. Although I was tempted by the beer menu, I was surprised to see the limited choices. Maybe the bear scared the moose away???? With our luck, we got seated next to the server's friend, so if we ever needed something we just had to look to the left. Unfortunately, his friend left right after our meal was served and not even the busser could find him to get us help. Fortunately, the manager doubled as a great server and our concerns were addressed. I ordered Pork Tacos with the Serrano Verde. It is a make your own style with a large portion of pork, beans and rice with cold compliments on a side plate. Being foodie moody, I did not enjoy the serrano verde as it had no heat but was definitely sweet. I changed my choice to the other sauce, Cascabel Colorado, and it was adequate. I was unimpressed and left a half a plate behind. (6/10) Dana ordered the Calabacita taco (vegetarian) and was well pleased. She said the pumpkin seeds were the perfect compliment to the vegetable blend, adding texture and flavor both. Although she liked it better without the shell, she enjoyed her meal and didn't leave any on the plate she said it was a solid 9/10. What saved the day for me was the Salsa trio, fresh diced peppers, onions, corn, beans... you will just have to go and try it yourself. Liking to know about what we are eating, here is some of the confusion that got figured out by management: No one knew what made the serrano sweet.. answer Agave. Great idea but I would consider a key ingredient for advertising. My first bite was like adding sugar instead of salt to your steak. Are the sautéed veggies on the hot plate supposed to be cold (that's how they came on top of the hot rice and beans)? Grant you, they were good both ways. We were curious as the cold on my sugary pork taco was a surprise at first bite also. Answer: Yes they are supposed to be cold. Even the manager was confused. Simple way to let people know? Add them to the cold plate. As far as the final rating: We have a house divided. Dana and I had completely different experiences. I ended up coming here after attempting to go to Moose's Tooth on a Saturday evening. Moose's Tooth was an hour and a half wait for a table and two hours for takeout, so the hostess suggested going to Bear Tooth since they typically have a shorter wait time. She was right. Our party of three waited 30-40 minutes for a table. Another plus for Bear Tooth: you can call ahead to get on the waitlist for a table and you'll receive a call when your table is ready. I don't believe Moose's Tooth does this. Menu has a lot of the same Moose's Tooth appetizers and pizzas, but also Tex-Mex dishes like tacos, burritos, and rice bowls. I haven't tried any of those dishes but I'd definitely like to some time. They also have a more extensive cocktail menu in addition to beer. For drinks I had the Tequila Tropicale, a house speciality cocktail with tequila, pineapple juice, lemon-line soda, and chili-lame salt. The flavors went together nicely and for $5 it's a great deal. We ordered the Diablo sticks (the main reason we came here and waited as long as we did). Delicious as always. If they ever bottle the chipotle ranch it comes with I would absolutely buy it. For pizza we got half Mac N Cheese and half Napoleon. Mac N Cheese has reindeer sausage which compliments the macaroni and cheeses nicely. The Napoleon was on the lighter side and all ingredients were fresh. Great service and experience all around. I would definitely like to return sometime. read more

Gotta love a theater pub. The Grill has a much broader menu than the theater, but the point is; just go eat here to support one of the cooler establishments in Anchorage. On the grill side, all of their Margs are delicious and definitely try the Bahn Mi Burger. I also know some folks who swear by substituting the beef for cod. This is one of the best brunches in town too and you really can't go wrong. read more

4.5 stars and still my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The staff is SO incredibly welcoming and friendly. BT is really going above and beyond to respect social distancing and keep things clean. I did try to go out on a limb yesterday by switching it up and ordering the chicken fajita bowl, since my go-to is the chipotle chicken tacos. They seemed to have similar ingredients and priced about the same. I was surprised when I cut into it, that a couple pieces of the chicken in the fajita bowl were raw in the center. The server corrected this right away and in the end I got my chipotle chicken tacos, which were delicious (and half priced, thank u to our waiter). My fiancé is also a huge fan of BT, but he is sad that they no longer make his favorite Carne Burrito. He's been trying other burritos like the Philly Cheesesteak one, and a pork verde one a while back too -- apparently none of them compare. Bears Tooth: pleeease bring back the carne burrito, the one the size of an infant child and filled with magic? One of my most frequently visited restaurants (both take out and dine in)! I love the variety of the menu--there are plenty of meatless and vegan options. In the interests of full disclosure, the General Manager reached out to me via email last night, and has expressed interest in making reparation for all orders that went wrong, and I'm really not interested in fixing my previous orders, it's too late for that. What i would like, is my for my review to have an impact on the way they conduct business. I have asked that someone be responsible for checking bags of food, AND that this staff member be fully up to date with the online menu - such as what goes with what, and substitutions, and added extras being included. This is a reputable restaurant, with a big following, and it's busy. I stand by my statement, that i won't return. Maybe after the pandemic, when everything is "normal" again. Craving a burger and love Moose's Tooth and decided to try Bear Tooth. Had Rosemary Burger with the impossible patty. Family member had the Smoke Gouda burger. Mine was a nice burger and the bacon was cooked well not limp but not supper crispy. Family member said the mix of the pork and beef made for a nice flavor. We tried the garlic fries and the garlic was nice and not over powering. Eat the Ancho Chili Brownie! The 'heat' is at the end and is warming not hot. Family likes the cinnamon ice cream that comes with it. read more

First time here. They do not take reservations but wait wasn't too long. Tables are really close to each other and feels crowded. Food is above average and worth giving a try. Some dishes were mediocre but I did LOVE the beer battered cod. Perfectly coated and fried. You can definitely tell the kitchen puts a lot of effort into creativity, taste, and presentation. Gosh guys, this place is the bees knees. They are always on point! It may be because I sit at the bar, I always find if I sit at the bar I get better service, but that's just me. We ordered seafood chowder & Pozole to start off with a awesome refreshing spicy Bloody Mary which had house made habanero infused vodka. I don't usually drink vodka, but when I do it's Bear Tooth habanero infused vodka. I only tried the seafood chowder since I'm lactose intolerant... but what i tried was super good, creamy and thick, stick to your bones. And the Pozole - I dream about their Pozole. It change a little since last I ate it, but in a good way - bigger chunks of pork a little shredded and soft but still a little crunchy hominy. YUM! I ordered the appetizer tostada - I didn't read that it had crema on it but I should of assumed - so I just scraped it off. But it was good! 8/10. And my fiancé got the jerk chicken with sweep potato, I'm not one for jerk ANYTHING, but man, did he enjoy it. The sweet potato mashed with jerk seasoning it it, it had a great flavor. I hadn't been to Bear Tooth in SO long, and I will definitely not let so much time pass between my next visit! It was a really nice day when we went so we ate outside. I love eating outside, it makes me feel like I'm in the lower 48 on vacation. They have a big menu and so much sounds so good! This time I got the Ginger Shoyu bowl but replaced the cod with tofu. My husband got the bahn mi burger. We loved everything! Mine was not heavy but it was very filling at the same time. The kind of meal where you're satisfied but don't feel gross after. Really dug the ginger shoyu sauce. My husband really liked his burger. I think I got a paloma cocktail with it. We will be back! read more

Ok that last two times I ate at Bear Tooth were an improvement over previous experiences. One meal was on the nice side and one meal was with coworkers on the ghetto side. Ghetto side selections are way more limited, so one has to order carefully. Margarita was good- just enough kick and a good size. And the roasted brussel sprout salad was delish. On the nice side, the pear bellini was soooooooooo yummy. And i got this insane fall orange and pumpkin soup. Dear lord it was heavenly.... too bad it was a seasonal special. I could eat that stuff every day. I live right around the corner, so if I had to deal with the bullshit parking situation at Bear Tooth, I definitely wouldn't bother. Theaterpup review - Bear Tooth is my spot for movies! Inexpensive to slightly bougie ticket prices. They have booths you can rent which I love, I'm still dreaming of the day when I'll get a booth for just two people. Seating tiers explanation: General - closer to the screens and the middle Reserved - seats in the back Booths - Cushy booths in the back The food in the theater area is pretty good but not a ton of gluten free options. Also beware if you have peanut allergies, because at Beartooth they use peanut oil in the fryer. This includes the (made on site)chips, and tostada base. They are very accommodating about allergies though. My pro tip is that you can order from the take out area if you prefer the food on the grill side + they have more allergy free options. I always get the half order of the tequila lime AK shrimp tostadas with soft corn tortillas. Highly recommend! If I get something from the theaterpub I get the seared steak tacos, they have a delicious coffee rub on them. Make sure to grab a fork and some hot sauce before you go in the grill. Half the time they forget my fork. The only thing that bugs me a bit. You can also go to the bar on the grill side and get drinks to bring into the theater! It's a Basil Smash for me normally. Just tell the bartender that you are going to the movie. One of my favorite things to do at Beartooth is go to an early Sunday movie and order brunch from the grill side. Brunch + Movie = a perfect Sunday So I'd say I'm a fan. read more

Went for lunch ordered 2 meals and then waited 42 minutes only two receive both dishes to come to table COLD!

We were a party of 9 with out of town guests. We were trying to decide whether we going to Spenard Roadhouse, South, or Beartooth Grill. I highly recommended Beartooth because I am a frequent there and like their food and services. So we went there around 1:30pm on Saturday. When we ordered, 3 of us had chicken fried steak and 2 of us had fish and chips while the other 4 had different food. I ordered my chicken fried steak with gravy on the side and extra gravy. I also pay more to change my side dish of potatoes to cilantro and garlic fries. When the food arrived, the chicken fried steaks and the fishes were all in deep brown in color. We know it must be over cooked. Sure enough, they were all over cooked and dry. My order, apart from being over cooked, it didn't have extra gravy and the cilantro garlic fries that I paid extra for. I told the waiter and he said he would bring me extra gravy and the cilantro fries. But he never came back until he brought the check. I understood that restaurants apply service charges for big parties and that sometime makes the servers pay less attentions to their customers because they knew that they are sure to have a certain amount of tips. Instead they pay more attention to the other tables so as to make more tips. In the future, I will think twice before I will take and recommend my friends and guests to eat there. read more

Food is as always delicious. Ate there "dine in" for the first time since Covid in the theater dining section. Apparently it's all self serve now, as in place your order at a kiosk, get your own water, utensils, napkins etc. their booths are tiny, adequate for one or 2 people but don't order multiple food items and if dining with friends you better be "friendly" Cant say I was all that impressed. I'll continue ordering from them because their food is good, prices reasonable, but it's strictly take out for me from now on. If I wanted to be a food server, I'd have made that my career path.
