Bear Chase is hopping! Went there on Saturday evening and they were busy, but you could still find seating and there was not a delay in ordering beer or food. There was a live band and a lot of families hanging out both inside and out. My husband and I found a small table near their roaring fireplace, which was perfect. We enjoyed both stouts, dunkel and amber. My husband enjoyed the imperial stout the most and I think I favored the dunkel, though both the oatmeal stout and amber were also tasty. I also enjoyed the large pretzel and grilled chicken sandwich and my husband enjoyed the house burger. The environment was a little loud, but festive and fun. We are already planning to come back. Thank you for a great experience and happy holidays!
Really loved the place. They got their own parking lot with abundant of spaces. There is a gift shop before their restaurant entrance. The sweatshirt, hat, coins, and other gift items seemed to be well made with quality in mind. The servers are very friendly, and they take time to explain to you about the beverage that you are interested in, and provide a sample cup if desired. The price is moderately reasonable. The come in 3 different sizes. And their food is actually amazingly scrumptious! We really enjoyed our time there! It was totally worth the visit. Will definitely visit again! 4.9 out of 5.
We stopped by this brewery over a holiday weekend--definitely a fun place with a great outdoor setup. It was pretty busy (as expected), but the atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly, which we really appreciated. The beer was decent--nothing mind-blowing, but solid enough for a casual afternoon hang. They have a little animal farm area, where the kids can feed the animals. That said, the live band was rough. Unfortunately, it kind of killed the vibe for us and was a big reason we didn't stick around longer. The pizza looked really good, though we didn't get a chance to try it. All in all, a good spot if you're looking for a laid-back place to bring the family--just maybe check who's playing before you go.
I really enjoyed our stop here. After hiking Bears Den, we came here for a beverage. From what I hear, it gets pretty busy and I can see why. Huge venue with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of space for parties and events and the beer is great. Excellent view of the mountains wherever you sit.
We celebrated our 3 year anniversary here this past weekend at the beer and wine festival. It wasn't much of a wine festival but deft beer They had so many great options and local vendors. I loved the Pumpkin patch more than Bears Chase Oktoberfest. The non beer char beers I enjoyed was, Lost Barrel cinnamon dolce porter, Corcoran Hard Cider barrel aged was my second fave. The food was aight, I liked the pretzel the best. Everything was meh. If they started having BBQ that would be amazingggg and pizza that didn't taste like frozen cardboard for $17. The service was regular nothing to brag about. The vibes were on point, there was live music, and AMAZINGGG views. I would recommend brining a blanket and cozy clothes. You can also bring your own chairs. There's patio seating and tons of outdoor seating. There's also covered seating.
We came here on a Thursday night and reserved one of the rooms in the back. Our wonderful server, Stefan, took such good care of us. I can't even tell you how wonderful of an experience this was for my team. The food was delicious as we ordered crab cakes, mini sliders, and dumplings. The place was just so beautiful. I wish I lived in this area but this would be a place I come visit again.
Good selection of beer on tap, nice variety of food, (delicious flatbread!) and stunning views! Family-friendly with dogs and bustling over the weekend! Great for groups with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, The sunset view of Shenandoah Valley is truly spectacular! While I missed the views the 1st time when it poured, I'm glad I came back to enjoy the view at sunset! There's a lot of picnic tables and areas for people to spread out and relax (there's also outdoor beer service). Along with a dozen or so types of beer on tap, there's also a couple of ciders, hard seltzer slushies, and a few non-alcoholic beers. You can easily find a beverage for anyone. I wish there were a couple of more ciders on tap. The ginormous pretzel was very filling and paired well with the Bold Rock Cider on draught. Highly recommend the upcharge for the beer cheese dip! I was stuffed before I touched the flatbread, and wished I started with the flatbread first! The Truffle Mushroom caramelized onion flatbread hit the spot and the flavors really blended well together. The Pepperoni Pizza was greasy and didn't look as appetizing. Note, the brewery doesn't make most of the food and get it from other vendors (they didn't go into details on their suppliers). There were a few types of flatbreads and pizza along with burritos, tacos, crab dips, and other types of finger foods. It would be nice to have more vegetarian options on the menu like a spinach artichoke dip, warm bread, truffle fries, etc. Have come back twice for the flatbread and the views!
Wow! What a view this place has. Staff was friendly and the burger I had was pretty good. It was my first visit but I hope I'm in the area again to give them another shot. The prices are definitely on the high side across the board and that's the only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me. A couple of beers and a burger was over $50.
When I was in AZ, my friend texted me the bearpaw symbol and said "We're taking you here when you visit." Cool. My last name is Bearhand so this symbol spoke to me. . Upon arrival, it looked very cozy, countryside. Once you walk into the place, its packed with dogs, dogs, dogs! I was in heaven!! So many people with beer and dogs. Yes! I love this!! I just wish my two little boogers could have flown here too. They would have made so many friends. The only downside, its SO loud. There is no dampening the sound - no insulation. We walked outside and wow - a hill with several giant firepits. I love fire a great fire but the wind was wreaking havoc. The view is beautiful and they have many plastic Iqloos to escape into as well. They have piles of wood, free to fuel your fire for as long as you'd like. The beers were delicious. The dogs were great. The view is spectacular. Bring the family. Bring the friends. Don't leave the dog behind! They will have plenty of buddies to meet at Bear Chase.
This place is MASSIVE. I was in total shock when we pulled up to an already full parking lot with lines coming out the doors and it was barely 1pm. WHO ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE AND HOW DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE!? Well that should be a testament to how fun this place is! It's waaaaaaaaaayyyy out there (as someone who lives inside the beltway) and while it took a little over an hour to get there, it was worth it! It was a gorgeous fall afternoon and there was everything from amazing views, great beer, all the food options you could ask for, live music and tons of FREE fire pits (first come first serve) with wood already stacked and ready to go for you. There beer was decent. I tasted the Pumpkin and Oktoberfest, along with both Hazy IPA's. I really liked that they had their own seltzers too. GET THE MULE- it tastes just like a Moscow Mule but as a seltzer- all gingery and limey. I tasted the Chill seltzer too and while it looked like antifreeze, it tasted like blue raz. They had several food situations going on which was KIND of annoying because if you ordered a pizza, some tacos, some charcuterie and those mozzarella sticks, you were given 4 different buzzers and had to pick them up at 4 different locations. I get that it was more efficient for them, but it was a lot as a customer trying to weave in and out of people only to be told when you finally get to the front of the line that you're in the wrong place. I did appreciate that they had different pour stations. People seemed happy to wait in line at the main bar (where they had ALL the things like wine and all the beers and seltzers) but if you just needed a drink, there were pop ups throughout the property that had SOME of the options with no line. Same with the bathrooms- there were regular ones in the main lodge but they had those fancy port-o-potties (the kind that are mobile, but in a truck or something, so there are multiple inside) out in the fields. That was nice. so GO HERE if you have a big group (or whoever)- just go early! It's super fun, they have everything you need (for the beer person, the wine person, the food person, the kid person and the dog person) for a fun afternoon.

Beautiful venue and service staff, this family and pet friendly brewery brings up outdoor concert or park theatre vibes. The property is gorgeous and fires with Adirondack chairs, picnic tables and buddy's of the hood and trees from most seating. There was a very efficient drink service at the appropriate stations 2-3 separate areas on the property served drinks, and a couple took food order with pickup in the main seating building. Drinks were on par with most breweries, but nothing I tried specifically screamed at me to get another of any one particular (I didn't try IPA, not for me in general so this may be where the gems like). Parking and guidance from staff on that was probably my biggest gripe. In all fairness it was a very busy day, but I did specifically ask about overflow parking and was told none exists only to find the contrary after parking at the bottom of the hill and walking up on the roadway and entertaining on foot through the motorcycle entrance. I was a bit off-put by this. If there would've been better guidance or a golf cart shuttle up the hill I think it would be helpful since the location while gorgeous is not near other things if you're turned away for parking. read more

A must-see spot in Loudon. I'm a native Oregonian. We like trees. We like hipster food. And we LOVE CRAFT BEER. This place combines all three. Food: (1) Just get the damn pretzel and cheese. It comes with some addicting mustards and by the time you finish the fried salty pretzel, you'll want another. (2) we got the quesadilla from the food truck outside. The philly chess team one came with crispy little star fries and a side of salsa. It was a massive portion. Slow to make but worth the wait and price! Worker was super friendly too! Extra good after a few beers. Drink: We went for a flight each, and ordered our favorite from there. We asked the worker to give us their recommendations on one flight and give us all their hoppiest IPA options to satiate my oregon taste buds. All were decent. Some weren't memorable but others stood out. Definitely ask them for their opinions and they'll find you the right beer. Atmosphere: WOW. Apart from the wonderful view, the lodgey feel of the inside with the fireplace was incredible. The outdoor fire pit was also a highlight and left our clothes smelling heavenly. They had lots of little activities for kids: face painting, balloons, etc. Everyone had their pups and there were a few family reunions and birthday parties going on. Great for groups. This sandwich from the AT Food Truck at Bear Chase was so incredibly delicious, loaded with pork, cheese, tomatoes, cilantro, and a bunch of other yummy stuff! Topped off with great beer and the awesome views that Bear Chase has to offer you it is well worth driving out to Bluemont, VA to try this place. read more
Great place in Northern Virginia for beers and a great view! Food: A couple food options to go with beer. We ordered the pizza and pretzel with cheese. Both were good, but I definitely recommend the pretzel with cheese! They also have to-go boxes for the pizza if you do not finish all your pizza! Beer: Great beer selection! They have a several different IPA options and different ale options. Accessibility: Very easy to get to!! There are some breweries in this area where you are going up steep hills and 'rough' terrain. This brewery is right off of route 7, making it extremely accessible. Parking: Big parking lot and very easy to park! No long walks up hill to the venue. Atmosphere: Love the atmosphere here!! Lots of outdoor seating, fire pits, great view! Additionally, inside they have a fire place inside and had live music while we were there on Sunday afternoon. Overall, a great place for a relaxing afternoon in Northern Virginia. Will definitely be back! read more
Happened to be in the area for apple picking and so glad we checked it out! Will definitely be a spot to go to when in the area. Overall a great place to drink beer with a killer view and plenty of outdoor seating. We tried the Buffalo chicken sandwich, fried green tomato stack, pretzel, and beers. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was a solid choice but I just wished the Buffalo flavor was more prominent since it was very subtle. The fried green tomato stack looked and tasted bomb, I loved all of the contrasting flavors and textures. The pretzel was warm, buttery, salty and paired well with the beers. Loved that they can fresh beer from tap and also sell them in one quart sizes to take home! They label it with the date too. Definitely a place to check out! read more

This brewery now only left me in awe from its views, it had me smiling with joy over their awesome beers! First, the ambiance... the space was HUGE! I mean HUGE! After walking inside you'll see a lodge-esque atmosphere complete with hanging lights, a fireplace and wooden tables. Again, there is so much space for you and friends, or even family, to hang out! There were quite a few kids hanging out while parents had a few adult beverages and with all the space it was not an issue for them to wander and roam. The inside space opens up to a patio area, which was covered because it's winter. Dogs are allowed in this space and I can't wait to bring my fur-kid to enjoy beers with! This space is also large. The patio has a walkout to an ENORMOUS yard, which was equipt with cornhole boards and an adorable fire pit area between some trees. The view is unbeatable... in comparison, if you've been to Dirt Farm Brewing, the view is more expansive of the same mountain range, but only larger. There is a kitchen which has pizza, jalapeño bites, the biggest homemade pretzel ever (so good, I recommend adding the beer cheese!) and other food and bites. They give you a pager and you pick it up by a window at the fireplace. The staff are so cool and let you try beers if you want. They have crowlers they can in front of you to take beer home, which you SHOULD! This may be my new favorite brewery in the bluemont area. Loved everything about it!! read more

Great brewery after a long hike! Bear chase was full of energy, with live music, fire pits, beautiful biewsand tons of people. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, amble seating for everyone. The line to get food/drinks were very long but they move at a decent pace. They do not allow outdoor foods but have a decent food menu. We ordered the taco trio, Buffalo chicken sandwich, wagyu burger, Mac n cheese bites, sweet potato fries, regular fries, pretzel, and a few beers. Everything taste great! This is probably one of the best breweries I've been to in Western Virginia. There's a TON of indoor and outdoor space and they also erected heated tents for the winter which I appreciated! It's also in a perfect apace because it's very close to a portion of the Appalachian trail, so you can go on a hike and immediately go to the brewery for some good beer and food. I loved their Belgian dark beer and even left with a growler full of it. They have a great brown ale as well called squirrely brown ale. The snacks they serve were great and we ended up getting mac and cheese bites and fries. It took a while for our order to be ready, but they were very busy on the Sunday we went and it was understandable. The fries were perfectly cooked and so yummy and warm. The mac and cheese bites hit the spot and were great to eat while drinking good beer. I will definitely recommend this brewery and hope to visit again soon! read more
Visited Bluemont VA to check out breweries and wineries and we started at Bear Chase, a good choice and a beautiful location looking down the mountain to the valley while you are drinking! My wife had a burger which she enjoyed. I had the shrimp Po'boy which impressed me with the execution of perfectly cooked shrimp combined with a tasty, slightly spicy sauce. Well done. We tried various beers and enjoyed them all but the star of the show is the view down the mountain into the valley, beautiful. Plenty of outside seating of various types plus some fire pits that were being enjoyed near us. With good food and beer with an awesome view, it is a great place to enjoy an afternoon. Lovely place to catch up with friends and have work events. Found this place by surprised and it have left me in awes. Despite coming the distance to get there, Bear Chase is a gem! First, amazing overlook for the Bluemount Area. Would have to come back in summer to enjoy that. Second, amazing service. I called Chris the manager a week ahead regarding to the work event and he was super layback and chill about it. When I arrived the staff were super friendly and helpful. A++! Third, ambiance. Space is great with wood lodge touches and lovely fireplace. It was well decorated for the holidays which I appreciate. We brought the 16oz beer glass for the group and everyone love it. Super cute. Came out for a quick lunch to catch up with my girl! This was my first time out here. The view is amazing! It's married you feel like you aren't in Virginia anymore for sure. Having lived in CO I'm kind of a view snob. This place made me feel as though I was back in CO. I definitely recommend coming out here with friends. It give you the vibe as though you are hanging out in your back yard. I definitely recommend the black best coffee porter! Even though I'm from Texas and not a beer expert, that beer was life changed for me. I could have several of those they were that tasty. Also this venue is very dog friendly which is nice. read more

Bear Chase is a beautiful brewery with awesome views. Currently there is only seating outside due to covid. They have seating in those social distancing circles which I really appreciate. You also have to wear a mask when you're in line ordering. I've enjoyed all of the beers that I've tried especially the one called Mr.Pink. I definitely think anyone would be able to find a beer here that they like. They also sell pizza which was pretty tasty. Overall I think this is a great brewery. read more

Awesome place to come grab a beer or glass of wine, hangout with friends and family, and enjoy great views! If you're looking for somewhere to go to get together with friends but still social distance from others this place is perfect! Tons of seating options outside from big chairs to picnic tables, all very spaced out. And their beers are great too! Been here a few times now, staff is very nice/helpful. The indoor portion is so warm and cozy. Log cabin feel with a fireplace, so it's great even in the winter. The view is AMAZING. We can't wait to come back in the summer when the outdoor area is truly open. We got a few beers, they were all pretty good. Also got this pretzel with crab dip which was great! 10/10 suggest Bear Chase, we will be back with friends/family! read more

The beer was good. The scenery was better, and dogs are allowed. I'd go back just for those three factors. Without the scenery, I'm not sure I'd head over. Agree with anyone recommending to bring your own chairs or blankets. read more

We came in a rainy day so unfortunately we couldn't take advantage of the wonderful views which are the best part of this brewery. We tried a couple of their IPAs which were just good. The staff is friendly, bathrooms are sparkling clean. Would come back when the weather is nicer. read more

Bear Chase is one of the best breweries I have ever been to. Not only do they have a breath-taking view, but the beer and food they offer is delicious. I highly recommend the pretzel w/ crab dip. We also split a pepperoni pizza which was equally as good. I tried Azure Waves, which was the perfect blueberry sour, and Ba-Danka-Dank, which had me going back for seconds. There is tons of seating and an excellent view from any spot you choose. This place is also toddler-friendly. There was plenty of space for my daughter to "toddler" in. Highly recommend!! read more
3.5 stars. Bear Chase is a must visit brewery, at least once. They have a spectacular view and are well organized, with friendly service. However, I have been here twice and have yet to find a beer I really like. The lager and Hefeweizen were good drinkable beers, but there were no full bodied ales or porters to my taste and I am not an IPA fan. Also the prices seem a little high. I paid more than $7 for a pint of Hefeweizen. I would be happy to pay that for a pint or even a 10oz of an imperial stout but there were none on the menu. The place definitely caters to young families and so be prepared for that, and consider one of the more urban breweries of that is not your thing. They do have a kitchen, which makes a good Bavarian pretzel, and at peak times, they have one or two food trucks too. Finally, the place is incredibly popular so if you come during a peak time, be prepared to wait for a seat indoors and to wait quite a while for food. Oh my goodness, this is hands down the best brewery I have ever been too. Multiple food trucks in site, large inside area, friendly staff. The beer was great. I had Mr. Blonde, and kodiak kolsch - both were excellent. Light, not filling, no bitterness, excellent. The salted pretzel is the best, with the cheese, and the crab dip is fabulous, and very favorable. The VIEW is incredible. Their grounds are beautiful. Definitely a must visit brewery!!! read more

Bear chase doesnt have any gluten free beer, but they offer slushies, sodas, chocolate milk and bottled water. This weekend 3/30/19 they are offering wine.
Do you have outside seating and do you allow dogs?
Yes, we allow dogs on the patio and lawn area. We require them to be on leash and the owners clean up after their pets.
