Reading through other reviews, it seems like the issue my parents had with this company is pretty common. They have a maintenance contract with Beantown for their heating system. Beantown comes out, plugs their diagnostics in and generates an annual report. The heating system breaks, Beantown comes out, resets something and leaves. The next day, the heating doesn't work again. This has happened multiple times now. My 70+ year old parents have been without HVAC heat for 2 days because Beantown has failed on multiple occasions to to either properly identify or fix a known issue. Now, their call service is demanding a $500+ emergency fee to come out and address the issue. Apparently, this is because they had a holiday party the other night and gave all their employees the weekend off as appreciation for their "hard word". That's great if for them, but not great for elderly customers with service contracts whose heat doesn't work during New England snowstorms with sub-freezing outside temperatures. I guess one of my parents' neighbors had a similar problem Friday night (saw talking to the service person in the Beantown truck in his driveway) and the neighbor was told that a dirty air filter caused the most recent heating failure with his HVAC ... read more

We had a job done by Beantown Home Services, Inc. We have a 3-4-year-old heating system that they installed for us. Two years ago, a valve corroded while we were on vacation and soaked our basement. The serviceman who came informed us that an error was made during installation because it should not have corroded that fast. They changed the part and did not charge us. Great! Recently, the run-off valve was releasing at least a gallon of water every other day. We called for a service call, paid the $160 up front to schedule it. Fine. They show up and tell us the valve is bad, corroded, and they will have to order the part. They proceed to their truck and find that they do have one. It takes maybe 30-40 minutes to replace and then proceed to tell us that we could have left it as is as it didn't affect the operation of the furnace and could have just kept emptying the bucket but here's your bill for $700! Somehow, we talked them down to $424; Plus, the original $160 service fee, nearly $600 total for a 30-minute job of a less than $20 part. First, was that valve also installed incorrectly? I want to warn others about my recent experience with Beantown Home Services, Inc. If I could give them negative stars I would. They came to my 90‑year‑old mother‑in‑law's home for a routine maintenance visit, and the work they did caused significant water damage--at least $15,000 worth. They left behind old vent filters and a damaged pipe, and since then they hung up on me several times, have not returned any calls to me, my contractor, or my insurance company. Crew did an annual maintenance check for my mother in law and the next day started leaking. Came back said it was fixed and the leak continued. Her entire ceiling had to be removed and water damage on hard wood floor. When our contractor went up there he saw a pipe had been crushed and it was a mess from their previous visits. I know from my own experience that they are dishonest, incompetent and expensive. If you have them repair anything please ask for an itemized bill so that they can pay all the taxes on the parts they charge you for to the Massachusetts tax authorities so that we don't have to subsidize the taxes they do not rightfully pay. Bought a new heat and hot water system from Bean Town in November of 2020. The hot water has broken 4 times in that time frame and it is currently not working again. They can't come out till Monday. The stupid system is under warranty but we are out of luck until Monday because to them not having hot water is not an emergency!!!!! Beantown installed a new furnace and heat pump yesterday in our split level. This replaced 30yr old gas furnace and added a heat pump. Can't say enough about their professionalism and efficiency. The removal and installation went as described, they adjusted to any obstacles encountered, and left the place spotless. Kudos to Kyle, Anthony, and the electrician whose name escapes me. New gas hot water heater Beantown installed failed to stay lit due to excessive high winds in our area in Cedarville. Sean discovered that the original vent cap had been damaged by these winds allowing for a forceful down draft blowing out the pilot. He researched a wind resistence exhaust cap, ordered one, removed the old damaged cap and we're back in business!!! Early June we had a hot day and AC did not come on. Called Beantown and made an appt. Had to wait 10 days. Lady said needed $169 to confirm appt. Gave credit card thinking it was to get estimate.Eric came, he is very knowledgeable and obviously an expert. In no time he advised the concern was not the AC, but, instead was our Generac generator. He said he could bypass the generator so we would have AC. Took Eric about 20 minutes to bypass and AC worked. Additional charge was $185 for total $354. I called the office for a question...I asked "I thought 169 charge to give estimate for repair"; wrong...169 is to schedule appt. My other question was: could Eric call since I failed to ask, if generator would still work and would it mess up the bypass when it came on for test purposes (happens every 2 weeks). She said someone would call. That was about 4 weeks ago. I am left with several thoughts 1)$169 without estimate seems high...guess it is to have a Beantown van in my driveway; 2)we have $354 into this and it is not totally repaired; 3)asked if they could take care of repair...no they do not do Generac repairs. I realize no one works for nothing, but, my yearly visit to my cardiologist with testing takes 1 1/2 hours and is less expensive. Should have just called my electrician...his rate is more reasonable. I called Beantown last year for my annual HVAC checkup, as I had an older system. The company I was using told me the entire unit needed to be replaced, so I called Beantown as a second opinion. They told me that monoxide levels were fine, but that the unit was old. That was a huge relief. So I decided to call them back out for service this year, early fall. Unfortunately the CO levels were deadly, so they came back and replaced the furnace. Best part: these guys, Shane and Matt, were professional, personable and knowledgeable--and you can tell they love and take pride in their work. This made the stress of such a huge purchase much less scary. I highly recommend Beantown. Everyone there has been great to deal with. Will definitely call them again. read more

My wife and I have our Vitoden 100w boiler maintenance done last March 2021. The service was to replace clips and gaskets. Dec 2021 boiler goes out called for service again. technician comes out and says I need a new pump. Again, a new technician comes replaces pump and notices a missing clip needed to finish job for proper psi. Tells me boss will be in touch because this was on them from initial service in March 2021. I don't get one phone call from them next day. Weather is cold out need heat. Wife calls afternoon to get an answer they say part is going to take a while to get. I do some research to find out the "clip" is available at the manufacturer in fact ALL! clips were available and can be picked up that day and they are only an hr away. I called bean town myself to try and find a quicker solution because we are losing heat and no hot water. Their rep said they understood but told me the part is in transit in flight and will take another week to get.... I don't think my expectations are high here? But knowing from talking with manufacturer that part was available and ONLY an hr away to pick up you'd think they drive down to get it to fix their mistake. Basement and boiler is currently being damaged with water coming out of boiler.... Even telling their rep about my current status they could of cared less. Flavio came and showed us options looked at our rooms and then provided 5 different contracts from which to choose. Took the time to walk through the history of my system build out, wiring and Ecobee thermostats. Scheduled an estimate for central air a month in advance based on a Mass Save recommendation was contacted by Beantown the day of and they canceled and stated that they cannot take estimated work until September it's July and I called in June what kind of an air conditioner company does that? We highly recommend Beantown Home services for air conditioning and electrical services. Losing our air conditioner just before the Fourth of July was not ideal. Beantown sent Kevin Hickey, project coordinator, who met with us to help us choose a replacement within 2 days and scheduled installation of our new air conditioner within 5 business days! He understood our predicament and made sure we were comfortable with our choices. Each person we came in contact with was very professional and helped us to make the right choices for our home. Steve Bradley and his crew of Rayshawn, Armando and Zach worked tirelessly in the July heat to make us comfortable. More electrical work was needed and Zach Barro came prepared to fix the circuit breaker and install a surge protector to protect us from more power outages and lightning storms! I would give them zero stars if I could. My wife scheduled an appointment, and took 3 hours off from work to be home for an AC checkup. They never showed. She called, and the operator said they would call back. They never did. She set up a second appointment. Again, took 3 hours off from work to be there. They no-showed her AGAIN. When she called to complain, we found they employ an answering service - the number that's available in online and in the yellow pages leads to a third party agency that only schedules appointments. They have no way of getting in contact with anyone in the business, so if you want to complain or have a question or ANYTHING besides schedule an appointment, there's no way for the consumer to do so. Finally she got to a higher up in the call center who at least sympathized with us and shot an email off to one of the company owners on our behalf. He has not returned the email. This business cost my wife almost an entire vacation day in wasted time, and here we are 2.5 weeks later without an AC inspection. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

This is my first review on Yelp - and it was the service and installation excellence of Beantown AC that motived me to create a Yelp account and post today. I live in Humarock and researched mini splits for over year. I went with Beantown based on their Yelp reviews after talking to the owner "G". I appreciated G's modern communication (email) and thorough knowledge of Mitsubishi's products. I wanted to have 6 heads installed throughout the house - with a challenging cathedral ceiling on the top floor (my house in inverted; kitchen on top). G and Team came up with a great plan to keep the piping to a minimum and all of the compressors on one side of the yard. The installation took place in August 2018. Everything went smoothly; the team was great and respectful of my house and property. Unfortunately, I didn't really get a chance to really test the units with hot weather, but I was very impressed by how quiet they ran. I opted for the more expensive units that also generate heat. I tested the heat last winter and again, I'm very pleased with the investment! This summer (2019), however, we had some hot days and I reached out to G because the top floor just wasn't cooling according to expectations. G worked with me to find a solution and I'm happy to say I had a glorious summer of A/C with no complaints from visiting friends and family. Beantown's commitment to the job (a year later) is why I went with the company in the first place. Also, the team helped me process all of the MA rebates with no issues. If you are thinking about mini splits I highly recommend them; you hardly notice them on the wall (I really mean that; they almost disappear). And believe it or not, having each room/floor customizable for temp, is actually better, in my opinion, than just setting one temp for the entire house. Now everyone is happy according to their own preference! If you want a committed company that does high-quality work go with Beantown. The day after New Years 2015 we arrived home to find no heat. Called G. Bradley up at 9:30p Friday night and he showed up 20 mins. later to try to do a quick fix that turned into a diagnosis of a dead heat exchanger -- either repair or new furnace but it'd be a few days either way and with the first real cold of the season bearing down on us. G. (Yep, that's really his first name, as in "G-Money" but says he gets it a lot wah-wah) was great at following up with the details of the problem, what options we had before us to decide, the pros/cons of each, offer of loaner space heaters to make do in the meantime, his ETA to arrive and fix and with getting the repair done just as the real single digit temps hit. He could have hit us with an after-hours charge, or non-informative elusiveness given the time of the year and demand for service work of this nature but instead he and his team gave great service and reliability and advising customers without a heavy hand. So 5:00 on the Friday before Labor Day, I see that there's water in the floor of my basement where the A/C system has been running. Called Beantown, left message and got a call back within an hour. Beantown explained that it sounded like a minor problem, they could send someone out right away and pay a premium, or I could wait until after the Holiday and be scheduled for first thing Tuesday morning. Serviceman showed up at 8:30 Tuesday, cleaned out a clog in the system, and we were up and running by 9:30. If everything were this easy ----- this company is great! read more

Before this project began I was nervous about the complexity of adding ducts through the house and cooling the entire home with one zone. Chris and Greg from Beantown were meticulous in their craft and even added an extra duct downstairs (at no charge) to ensure the house was cool in all rooms. Do not use this company. They have zero concept of customer service. I received multiple invoices for the same project each reflecting a different value. Additionally when attempting to pay a deposit on the invoice, the payment link was not working. I called accounts payable so that I could make a payment directly to the organization. I unfortunately did not get the name of the person I spoke to. However, this individual was going to take a payment from me. When she communicated the amount to be billed to my credit card, it did not match the value on the other invoices. In fact it was significantly more expensive. So I now I had three separate numbers none of which were consistent with one another. I expressed frustration regarding the lack of clarity. She proceeded to tell me I had no right to be frustrated. When I asked her if she was familiar with my account and the events leading up to our conversation, she subsequently said no and that she knew nothing about my account. I then told her that she was not in a position to tell me how I should be feeling about the process. She yelled at me and hung up the phone. I can honestly say I have not encountered a more rude person and one focused on customer service no less. I called to report the incident and was supposed to receive a call back from the owner. Never happened. I then contacted my sales rep who also never responded. This was going to be an 11k - 15k job ininitially with the potential for future business for an addition to my house. Please consider using other organizations. Thankfully there are many HVAC companies out there who take pride in customer service unlike this unfortunate business. read more

It's been only 3yrs since we had our brand new unit installed..took out extended warranty....we had problems from day 1...our outside unit kept banging...the ac never worked right...nor the heat..I paid them $8,000.00 for top unit...we lived with all that...But the thing that totally pisses me off..is just recently we call cause the termastat was not working..we called and we're toldl they would Not be coming ..cause from the beginning we had called about defective unit too many times...just heads up the indoor termastat was called back because they r defective and had a call back..so I called. Bought a house with no A/C and electric baseboard heat, priced out a few different options on heat and AC and went with Mitsubishi Ductless Minisplit ceiling units. G and his guys gave a good price and worked with me for financing. The crew he sent could not have been more courteous to my wife and I, the very definition of professional, to the point where I was comfortable with them in my home while I was gone.
