He already spends a lot of his free time coding in Scratch and is currently learning Python, so finding a program that keeps him engaged isn't always easy. The instructors did a fantastic job making coding fun, challenging, and exciting. If he had his way, he would spend the entire summer there--that's how much he enjoys it. We've been so impressed with the program and highly recommend it to any child who loves technology, coding, and creating.

We were prepared to pick him up early as it seemed unlikely that a high energy kid would be able to sit for three hours straight. Well, we were in for a surprise: our son stayed for full three hours every day. The instructors were very patient and had a good balance between friendliness and strictness. Our son learned a lot of computer skills, built several games and said it was his favorite class ever )) And asked to be enrolled into weekly classes )) Looking forward to his next steps in this wonderful school!

The beginning was a little challenging because it is such a large, high-energy group--and he is already a high-energy kid who can get overstimulated--but the team was incredibly patient and supportive. Maddie, the manager, truly took the time to work with him, and when he returned, he had a really great day and we received such positive feedback. He genuinely loves GrowFit. I am impressed by how organized everything is, the variety of activities, and the huge, fun bouncy house. The kids seem to have a wonderful time, and my son made friends very easily. I also really appreciate Russ, the owner, taking the time to send photos at the end of camp--it is such a lovely extra touch. Thank you to everyone for your hard work and for taking care of our son. We will definitely be back in the future!

It sounds like a lot but when I'm given the security of his safety and knowing throughout the day he is enjoying himself, that $ is well worth it. I was nervous having never even visited the place and only going off of another parents recommendation but the staff gave me direct communication as I continuously checked in (shout out to LuLu) and she provided me the comfort of knowing he's having fun and he told me he wasn't ready to come home until the last min of his day. He is excited to go again. He talked about the fun he had that days for several days after. I would def recommend trying it out even if it's just for one time. I'm sure your kid will talk you into coming again.

She's not particularly sporty but I think the games are designed so that they're approachable for everyone, regardless of experience. She also enjoys the crafts and game tournaments. This year she begged me to sign her up for an extra week at the end of summer and also begged to stay for extended care. I think a huge part of her love for Golden Eagle is due to the staff. They're so friendly and they seem to genuinely care about the kids, which is so lovely to see.

The camp was very comfortable with our son's nut allergies (held epi pen for emergencies) and I felt he was safe and well-supervised. Counselors and Jr Counselors greeted our son (and other campers) by name every morning with a warm welcome, and said goodbye by name daily as well. My son immediately felt comfortable and reported he had "a great time" every day of camp. The camp day is divided into 45-min periods with a range of fun activities (soccer, dance, recess games, basketball, arts & crafts or chess, etc). Our son loved all the choices! There are larger camp-wide events, popsicles in the afternoons, and theme days. I learned that many of the counselors and staff were once campers themselves. Several shared they had great memories from when they attended camp, and made lifelong friendships. I'm a child psychologist, and camp can be an amazing opportunity for young people to practice independence, build friendships, try new things, develop problem-solving and communication skills, and feel a part of a community. This comes from a safe environment, caring staff, clear structure and expectations, and lots of inclusivity, warmth, and fun. Returning campers and staff are a testament to this great camp. We're already planning on seeing you next year, Golden Eagle!

My 9-year-old son has attended Wild Child (and the slightly more academic Nerdy Naturalist…read moreWednesday program) two days a week for a year, since we began homeschooling. The guides are wonderful mentors with an uncanny ability to connect with the children, and the kids (who range in age from about 5-10) are amazingly creative, spirited, and very bright. They seem to thrive in the outdoors. Our son's social and motor (and academic!) skills - and endurance - have grown tremendously from spending time outside hiking, climbing and exploring the natural (and imaginative) world with a group of like-minded kids. Although we are homeschooling, it also gives us the benefit of a "school community," and for parents, the benefit of a day or two a week to get some work done!

This program offered them an outstanding, totally immersive, outdoor education experience. They learned how to track animals, identify plants, trees, and insects, how to protect the environment, how to get along with their peers, and most importantly they developed a deep connection with the natural world. This program inspired my daughter to exclaim, "I want to be a naturalist when I grow up!" The guides are excellent at working with all types of children and they work closely with parents on solving issues if they arise. It is a very thoughtful and kind community. While this program may not work for EVERY child (my children were already avid mud-playing, tree-climbing monkeys), I highly recommend giving it a try! I believe every child deserves the opportunity to connect in and with nature.
