We hosted our kids' birthday party here last year and it was incredible! Mai and her husband went above and beyond to make everything seamless. We chose a paint-and-gaming party with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme, and they were completely open to customizing the painting. If you want something unique, you're not limited to the samples on their walls, which is fantastic. Because our guests were ages 5-8, they even pre-drew the painting template onto all 25 canvases, which was such a thoughtful touch. The studio has a great backdrop wall for photos, and they even added custom birthday graphics on their TVs. Mai and her husband also helped with setup, and they were so easy and enjoyable to work with. We were able to rent out the entire studio as a private event, which meant we could bring our own drinks. There's plenty of space for adults to relax while the kids paint and game, plus lots of room for food. They recommended the pizza place next door, which made catering super convenient, and there's no fee for bringing outside food. I would absolutely recommend this place for parties. We came in on a Sunday early evening for a friend's son's birthday party. Pixels is located in a nice small plaza area in south San Jose off Monterey Road. Parking is easy and accessible in the plaza parking lot. As soon as we walked in I was blown away seeing all the multiple activities that was being offered for the kids. There was a private gaming room in the back with several TVs mounted on the wall and a foosball. In the front room there was an area with tables and mini easels for the kids to do a Pikachu painting tutorial. There was even a cotton candy machine for everyone. The kid friendly party atmosphere was very lively and energetic. There was music blasting out loud while food and alcohol/ soda/ kids drinks were provided by our party host friend. It was also nice to see previous art work on display on the shelves and walls. We met the owner and she was very friendly and accommodating. Her and her husband were really good with the kids. Hands down the best Birthday party destination for your kid and their friends! After researching a lot we settled on Pixels and couldn't have been happier with our choice. From every single email to msg to coordinating everything, it was all done seamlessly. We did a glow in the dark slime party and my son and his friends loved picking the glow colors of their choice and started making their slime. The pixel team were such great coordinators and each and every child listened to all the instructions they were given. After enjoying the slime activity, they promptly arranged the table for food and the kids got on with that right away. We did cake after and I loved that birthday child had a stool to stand on (such a minor but imp detail that made all the diff). After everyone enjoyed some food and cake, the team brought out the cotton candy machine which was such a hit! It was the first time for some kids and every child loved it. This was then followed by a glow in the dark dance party with a fog machine.. what an amazing end to the party.. because after enjoying that much sugar, the kids needed to release all their energy via some cool dance moves. The pixel team coordinated everything so so so very well that as parents we didn't have to worry about anything.. the kids enjoyed their party while the parents could chat and enjoy adult company :) I also liked that Pixels had a lot of flexibility in terms of what food you could bring from outside, decoration, set up etc. a lot of places limit these things and that makes it harder for everyone but this was straightforward and very convenient. We had our daughter's 5th dinosaur themed bday here for the combo paint & slime party and it was a blast. We worked with Mai to design the perfect triceratops artwork & rainbow to paint. It's a great event space for a bday party, we had approx. 25 people attend. Starbucks in the plaza and pizza next was great and we got to bring in outside food. We also brought in our own decorations & cake. Mai and her husband are a great duo. Mai is so good with the kids and awesome hostess. Mai was very responsive with the planning and even can help with the digital invite. She kept timing for our 3 hr party. We also added the glow bar, which doubled as a fun photo backdrop, and ordered party favors through them -- they were beautifully packaged and perfect for our little guests. The space is nicely decorated and full of cute touches -- there was even a small personalized sign that said "Happy 5th Birthday Allie," which made it feel extra special. We just attended a birthday party here at Pixels and it was a great experience. It was a two hour party. They had to lights off with black lights, so all the colors shined. They started off with the painting portion of the party. The instructor was just fantastic. She easily and passionately taught the kids each step of their painting. Hidden gem in San Jose! This is a one-stop shop! The owners really thought of everything for your planning needs. The venue is nicely decorated. They have an sitting area for adults, the main area for the kids, as well as the video game area. When the kids leave kicking and screaming because they don't want to go home, you know it was a good party! The kids didn't quite kick and scream, but they would not leave! Everytime a parent turned around to say goodbye to someone else, their kids would disappear, and they would have to drag them back out towards the door again. For both the parties I attended/hosted, Mai created custom painting lessons to match the theme of the party. She was very open to ideas for creating the painting lesson and very creative! Joe is the gamer. He helped the kids set up video games, gave them personal attention when they needed help, and even played with the kids when they needed partners. This is by far one of my favorite party venues. Joe and Mai are both really easy to work with, generous, and gracious. The kids were so comfortable in their clean art and gaming studio that they settled right in without having to warm up to each other. read more

What a wonderful hidden gem! We came here for a 4 year old birthday party and our son loved painting with his playmates. They had face painting and an option to paint a ceramic of their choice. Our son picked the shark coin bank over castle, cupcake and rocket ship. An excellent selection for this age group. They also have a gaming room that we got to take a peek at. Pixels is a great venue for a fun party for families, kids, and adults. They were very attentive and actively helped us put up our decorations; including our big balloon garland for the photo area. That was tricky to put up, but the end result was so lovely! The venue is clean and well decorated, with ample space to walk around even with our party of 25 adults. Upbeat background music played over their speaker system while our party ate and played baby shower games. We also had the opportunity for our guests to paint ceramic or wooden trinkets. Some guests had to leave the party early, so Mai gave them a little to-go kit so they could paint at home. And the cherry on top was the sweet canvas keepsake Joe and Mai created to commemorate the occasion - a little red pram with balloons. Our guests took turns adding balloons to the canvas under Mai's direction, and it turned out so beautifully! The venue is pretty spacious; they have a game room, plenty of space for painting, and a couple of big tables for more activities. They even have a kitchen with refrigerator and freezer if you need to place a cake in there. My sister rented out the place for my niece's bday party. The owner, Mai, is so sweet and very accommodating with everything. When we came, I expected to decorate the dessert table, but to my surprise, it was already decorated! They had the backdrop, table cover and balloons for us. They also had a few slides saying "Happy Birthday Hailey" on the monitor. Such a cute addition to make the birthday girl feel special! They let us bring in food and drinks. Parents dropped their kids off and felt very safe doing so. They came back when the paintings were almost done. Mai taught the kids how to paint Cinnamon Roll. Those that didn't want to paint Cinnamon Roll could paint Roblox avatars! I love that each child was able to use their creativity and made their painting their own.
