They offer supplemental classes, have pickleball available, swimming pool, showers, indoor turf, outdoor work out area which is PERFECT for sunset or sun rise work outs. We inquired directly with CD for our date and time and she guided us thru the booking process. You really feel like you're on your own with a whole floor of equipment in front of you that you don't know what to do with. I wouldn't call that guidance from an instructor. This pertains to the five and under. I don't know what it's like for older children. This occurred at race Street. I don't know the name of the instructor. I would assume all instructors are functioning within what they're taught to teach the children. I would assume that the instructors are all uniform in there way of teaching classes. If this is not the case then maybe it should be. I think that this gymnasium can do a lot better. They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive we could find, but the descriptions of the camps sounded like we'd get a good value for our dollar. Our kids were excited about the different themes of each camp week that we ended up signing them for two weeks each instead of one because they liked different themes. We booked the "It's Elemental" and "Animal Adaptations" camps for our twin boys and "Castles and Catapults" and "Explore Hawaii" camps for our daughter in February. They were thrilled about the summer camps, and we glad to see how much they were looking for to them. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic took over everyone's lives. Like many parents in the Bay Area, my wife and I had to juggle not only watching but teaching our children as well as juggle work. My wife and I are both healthcare workers albeit working in different hospitals and different fields (radiology versus nursing). We hoped that things would go back to normal, but that was quickly dashed away when the school was closed down for the remainder of the school year and the lockdown was extended. We knew that they'd need the summer camps more than ever. Unfortunately, Camp Captivate had to cancel their physical camps. The owner of Camp Captivate, Ildiko Stennis, helped me with the refund. We received gift cards that we could use for future camps because we hadn't notified them that we wanted to be reimbursed. I spoke with Mrs. Stennis about our situation, and she was very understanding. She removed the funds from the gift cards and did a full refund to my credit card. She was empathetic and friendly, and I really appreciated her help. I know for sure that my wife and I will be signing up our children for Camp Captivate when things go back to normal.

Took two classes here and had very different experiences…read more The first class I went to was a resin workshop with Punky Power Productions and it was fun, engaging, and interactive. The instructor was very fun and really willing to help out and inspire. 5 stars. The second workshop i took, just this Sunday, was not great at all. It was a mosaic class and it might as well have been self led. The instructor gave us a brief 3-5 min tutorial on how to place the tiles and then did nothing else except sorted tiles the whole time. She never came around to see how we were doing or if we needed help. We had to keep asking her to come over if we had a question and she didn't really offer too much. She never told us what color we could use, and kept coming over and collecting the extra tiles as we were working. She didn't help us finish up and left before we were done. It was super disappointing.

September 30, 2026 We've been going to San Jose Family Camp…read morenear Yosemite for over 30 years. It's our family's big back yard! The past 10 years or so have been challenging because of COVID and fires, but camp persists! They just got a new dining hall this year and it's fantastic. They didn't have a full complement of staff this year but were able to deliver a lovely camp experience just the same. Somehow young people need to be engaged and encouraged to work up there for the summer. If you haven't been before, please go try it! At this point our kids are grown and our visits are more like family reunions. We usually go with approximately 8 other families, their grown kids and now even grandkids. The wood frame tents (canvas top and sides) are roomy and cozy. They comfortably sleep up to 6 on the provided cots. There is a an attached deck on each tent. 3 meals per day are included, as well as many fun activities like camp fires, archery, swimming, tie dye (supply your own items to dye) crafts and hikes. There's even an off site swimming hole at the base of a really pretty waterfall only a short hike away. A large number of tents offer electricity for a small extra cost, and there are also some tents that are wheelchair accessible. The season usually runs mid June- early August every year. Sign ups are in winter for the following summer but once sign ups open, registration is open for the duration of the season. A family can often find a weekend or midweek stay at the last minute. Give your family a happy time in the great outdoors! The learning pods concept was new to our family but the staff did an excellent job caring for our child. I really appreciated that the staff took time to get to know my child, which was importatnt to me. The teachers were able to encourage my child to learn by incorporating games/playing in the learning process. The facility has great learning materials to help my child learn and stay engaged, i.e. sight words, math, reading books, etc. Lastly, being a new mom to a child who just entered grade school, Ms. Swati was very supportive and engaging on my journey.
