This hotel was an absolutely terrible experience. The property description and amenities were completely misrepresented. The booking photos appear heavily altered and AI-generated, which does not reflect the actual condition of the hotel. It is dated and old. The listed amenities stated that the room included a robe and ironing board, neither of which were present. The elevator was inoperable the entire weekend. We had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs repeatedly. Each time we asked about it, we were told it was being worked on and would be running shortly, which never happened. While the beds were clean, they were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was dated, moldy, and unsanitary. The bathtub had clearly been painted over to conceal rust and other defects. Housekeeping did not thoroughly service the room during our stay. The smoke detector was missing which a poses a saftey hazard. Before arriving, we called to confirm parking and were told valet was $25. Upon arrival, the price was suddenly $50. When we addressed this with the front desk manager, she took no accountability and stated that valet is a third-party service and they have no control over pricing. To make matters worse, the valet service damaged my friend's car. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location. It's directly across from the beach. Overall, this was a horrible experience, and I would not recommend staying here under any circumstances. And, it definitely is not worth the price. read more

Would be hard pressed to find a better location in South Beach! This hotel is right in the heart of one of the most iconic areas in Miami, and staying here really makes you feel part of the energy and history of the Strip. The hotel itself is classic and iconic, a bit older but updated, modern, and very clean. Surprisingly quiet for being right on the strip. We were very comfortable here and slept great. Loved the velvet hangers and safe in the room for our passports. The staff was incredibly kind, holding our luggage both before check-in and after check-out while we waited to head to our cruise. We also loved that they let us check out the bikes and cruise the strip for free. We didn't have a car and there is easy ride share drop off/pick up a street behind the hotel. The hotel offers a Keurig coffee downstairs in the lobby and another type of coffee machine in the room that's just fine, but not spectacular. That said, we would absolutely stay here again. Bonus: it's just a short walk to our favorite Cuban restaurant, Puerto Sagua, and their coffee is the best in the area. Easy walking access to most places in South Beach. Highly recommend! read more

I travel frequently and have stayed in hotels all over the world including; Europe, Australia, and Africa, so I don't say this lightly: my experience at the Beacon Hotel in Miami was genuinely unacceptable (specifically room 404 and the adjoining room 402). The only positive thing I can say is that the view from the room was actually quite nice, definitely the highlight of the stay. Unfortunately, everything else was the complete opposite. From the moment I arrived, cleanliness was a major issue. There was visible hair on the pillows, which immediately made me question whether the bedding had been changed at all. The sheets themselves had noticeable stains, making it hard to feel comfortable or safe sleeping there. It only got worse in the bathroom, where I found cockroaches in the bathtub! Something you absolutely do not expect (or tolerate) at any hotel, let alone one in this price range. The bathroom also had an overpowering chemical smell that was so strong it actually gave me a headache. Instead of feeling clean, it felt toxic. The amount of dust behind the headboard and on the mattress could send anyone into a coma. Accessibility and basic functionality were also major problems. The elevator wasn't working, so I had to carry all my luggage up the stairs. This alone would make the hotel completely impractical for anyone with disabilities, injuries, or even families traveling with kids. It's not just inconvenient...it's unacceptable. To make matters worse, the phones in the room don't even work. They're essentially decorative. So if you need anything from the front desk, you're forced to physically go down there (assuming you're willing to deal with the stairs again). I brought all of these issues to the front desk, and the only resolution offered was that they would "make a note" on my account, no room change, no cleaning, no meaningful attempt to fix anything. Honestly, I would have left immediately, but I didn't book the stay myself and, with it being spring break in Miami, finding another place on short notice wasn't realistic. Between the lack of cleanliness, broken amenities, and overall neglect, this is the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

The customer service provided at this hotel was TERRIBLE. I DO NOT recommend staying at this hotel ever. The front receptionist and manager were very rude. They should be fired because their customer service skills were AWFUL! I made a reservation for the hotel one month ago, and I arrived for hotel check in today. I approached the front receptionist and I was not properly greeted with an hello, good afternoon, or anything. Instead I approached the receptionist and informed her I wanted to check in. I provided her my name and she was unable to find my reservation. I then provided my confirmation number and she was unable to find my reservation. She informed me that she did not have my reservation in the system and did not have any rooms available and then proceeded to help other customers. She did not provide any explanation and completely dismissed me and my concerns for why my reservation was not in the system. She proceeded to assist another customer with their reservation. I asked her to speak with a manager because I completed the reservation online through the hotel's website and received a confirmation number. I was unable to speak to a manager because the manager was not physically present at the hotel. I asked what could be done, and the receptionist wanted to overcharge me at $400 per night to stay in the ocean view suite, which was the only room available. I informed the receptionist that this situation was not my fault and that I should not have to pay any additional charges because I submitted my reservation and received a confirmation. The receptionist proceeded to ignore me and fail to provide a solution that did not involve me paying double the price I originally made the reservation for, and I asked to speak with a manager. The receptionist told me that she did not have the manager's phone number and provided me an email address and told me to expect a reply in 5-10 minutes. I sent an email to the manager with the explanation of my grievances and did NOT receive a reply in 5-10 minutes. I proceeded to book another hotel while I waited on a reply from the manager, and the receptionist, 30 minutes later, now has the manager on a phone call on her personal phone. So clearly the receptionist is also a liar, in addition to being rude and disrespectful, because she said she did not have the manager'a phone number at first. By the time the manager was on the phone, I made another reservation and was getting ready to leave the hotel. It should not take 30 minutes for a customer to speak to a manager and have this issue resolved. On the phone, the manager was also very rude and told me that I needed to understand the situation, instead sold trying to discuss a solution. I had a perfect understanding of the situation but I wanted a resolution to the situation, which no one could provide in a timely manner. And the cherry on top, is that the elevator did not work in the hotel, and I had several bags and suitcases, which no one helped me with to get inside the hotel to the receptionist and lobby area. And I refused to carry all of my bags and suitcases up the stairs in a hotel where I received terrible customer service. The manager just respond to my initial email, which is now six hours later, claiming that her staff did not attempt to overcharge me, but they did and the cameras in the lobby area will verify my TERRIBLE AND AWFUL experience. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Great location, but terrible customer service and the elevator doesn't work. read more

We loved the prime South Beach location of Beacon. Right on Ocean Drive across the street from the beach and in the middle of the action! Check in is at 3pm and check out is at noon. We got there early and our room was ready but they said they charged $50 plus tax to check in early. We declined but they gave us beach chairs and towels to use in the mean time. They were able to hold our bags after we changed into beach-wear in the lobby bathroom. The hotel provides beach chairs and towels in your room. Rooms are on the smaller side but who spends a lot of time in their hotel room when they're in Miami?! Only thing good about the BEACON is the location...right on the main street of South Beach. Over priced for the hotel itself. Room is basic and small. View is a brick wall. The shower drain didn't work so you stand in water. The ladies at the front desk were unfriendly and cold upon arrival. And all you hear is doors slamming in the hallway all the time. Beacon hotel had a cute outside vintage modern appearance, my husband and I booked the deluxe king suite. When they took us to our room the king bed took up all the floor space and a cockroach ran across the bed and my husband had to kill it when it landed on the floor. I showed the receptionist and she moved us into another room. It was a bit better but the bathroom was outdated, and the room was not much bigger. During the day, there was constant construction sound right next to the hotel with sounds of drilling into concrete, I woke up with that sound at 9 am with hopes of sleeping in. That didn't happen, and then after checkout we sat in front to have breakfast and I ordered an all American breakfast which includes a bowl of fruit. When our plates came have the portion was missing, and my "bowl" was actually a sauce container with one slice of strawberry, and 2 blueberries. VERY misleading I showed the waiter and he didn't know what to say, the staff were laughing at me by the front door. I was simply asking for what was being advertised in the photo. I don't recommend this place for the lack of transparency trying to advertise a fancy little hotel when I would use it more for a 1 night stand and that's it. read more

This place deserves 0 stars. That's how bad it was.Two of my friends and I recently stayed at this hotel this past week for about 4 nights and we wanted to share our experience. During our stay the whole shower pole hit my head . Barely touch the AC and it fell off including the microwave. Don't get me started on the toilet. The toilet did not want to flush. Thank god my friend is handy she needs an invoice because the front desk and the cleaning ladies did not want to help. Completely ignored. Also, during our stay we noticed that our room was making us extremely stuffy. One of us is actually highly allergic to mold so during our stay she started to have breakouts and we felt stuffy almost every night. There was a few times when we requested towels from the cleaning ladies and they were extremely rude and would say no. We kept our composure then one day we asked again and the lady very rudely said no again then we asked if the least they could do was clean our room since we were headed out in 10-15 mins they also said no in a very rude tone. We went to the front and expressed our experience with the cleaning ladies and then asked if we could at least get our room cleaned by the time we get back which would've been a few hours. When arriving back we returned a few hours later and a do not disturb sign was put on our door and our room was not cleaned. We once again returned to the front and expressed how we asked hours prior to get our room cleaned and asked them to check their cameras because we were met with rudeness and didn't even receive service. We were told they were actively cleaning our room then returned no one even returned to our room. We had enough and asked the front desk woman to talk to a supervisor or at least be given their number so that we can give her a call and she refused. We asked if we could get some type of accommodation because the treatment at this hotel was absolutely ridiculous. I am normally not one to complain because I myself used to work customer service and understand when customers can be hard to deal with but this is absolutely ridiculous. Before leaving we asked when the the supervisor will be in so we can leave a call and were told to call back at a certain time the next day so we did. Then my friend asked to leave her number so she can possibly get a call back then she was blocked. This is absolutely ridiculous and very unprofessional for a business and we would like to speak to someone who can actually have a mature conversation with us without blocking our numbers and trying to avoid when met with criticism. FYI if you have any time of issues and present it to the front desk they will block your number. I've been calling three times a day and no one answers. They will try to gaslight you. I felt thoroughly disappointed by my stay at the Beacon hotel. I've been to Miami Beach a few times now and walking along Ocean Avenue seeing this place and the other retro looking ones like it is a really neat feeling, and you always dream of staying in one of them. Though the outside and even the lobby are pretty snazzy and like a nice, cool blast from the past, the reality of the stay is pretty subpar. It is a boutique hotel, and I understand that means the rooms are smaller than your average hotel these days, but even with a group of 3 we felt pretty squished. Definitely something to consider if you are traveling with a bigger group. The small room wasn't even the issue- it's how much we paid to stay there and to have such a small room, that wasn't even clean feeling, that was the problem. And very few other amenities. They did have a fancy coffee maker and some shampoo in the bathroom and stuff, but that's about it. Also, the walls are not in the least bit soundproof. We luckily did not have any loud neighbors but in the morning could hear every single noise the housekeepers made. Yeah, just probably won't be back to this place unfortunately. read more

We didn't even last. Checked in and out less than 24 hours left. There are stairs, elevator is very tiny. Rooms are tiny. Size of room is less than 200 sq ft. Our shower had mold, floor in bathroom had rust or water damage around it. The Beds are full size. Very tiny. No counter space any where. Breakfast is not included. Even though their website states they serve breakfast. There's a light in the alley that shines all night long. The gym is the size of a very small bedroom. Bathroom sink didn't drain. Main bedroom light turns on and off on its own. The only positive is it's next to a cvs that's open 24hrs. I would only stay here if I was young, single ,and broke. But this expensive. So what I love about this hotel is that it's on the beach when I mean it's on the beach you walk out the front door and you are on the beach. I don't need a car anything because you were right where you need to be you can walk from the hotel anywhere else. The only thing I would say is that's the hotel pictures it looks kind of old inside very vintage if that's your day that is the type of boutique hotel you want to go to are usually like a more upscale sleek look but for the location you are in the right place. Service was great and the bartender was extremely nice and makes really good drinks. They also have a restaurant and that is part of it I did not try the restaurant but it is very convenient to have a restaurant right there downstairs. The only con I would say is that they make breakfast basically during times where you do not want to be inside I believe breakfast was from 9 to 11 and so we weren't able to eat breakfast at all because were always on the go. Just a tip because the hotels down on South Beach are so expensive I got this off of Groupon I don't know if the offer always be there but it was way cheaper to buy it from Groupon. But you still be charged I believe a resort fee or something of that nature but it was still cheaper to get it through Groupon read more

A really cool vintage boutique hotel to stay at. My friend booked this spot via Expedia and got a really good deal for three nights, especially being that it was super last second. The hotel lobby itself is super fancy with their furnitures, decors, paintings, etc to show that Cuban influence. The room itself was interesting, as it was somewhat like a motel setup, where the entrance to our room was from an outdoor walkway. The room itself is 3 star quality. The bathroom was interesting with their glass door, so it's somewhat awkward when your friend is using the bathroom. I hope I do not need to elaborate anymore. The service is really good. They provided beach towels and beach chairs in the room for us and had extras at the front desk if you needed more for more guests. It was rainy on one day and they had umbrellas they lended us with no hesitation. Anything you needed they tried to accommodate you as best as possible. I had a great stay here during Art Basel Miami 2022. My girlfriend and I stayed in an ocean view room. The room was clean with a lot of windows and we could see the ocean which was very nice. The hospitality was top notch. The free breakfast was not the best, but it was free every morning and it did the job. They even let us do a very late checkout at 4pm for an added $50 which was a great help for us who had an evening flight home. Yuck! This place was so dated and older looking inside. The pictures don't tell the truth. The room we got was a double with two queen beds and was so small! The bathroom was so small you could barely turn around once inside. The toilet needed to be flushed twice in order for the waste to clear. The "continental" breakfast required a ticket (small raffle tickets) and consisted of slices of bread, pancakes, breakfast potatoes and eggs that appeared powered. This place was horrible. The most insensitive and rude front desk agent! It is 6:53pm 9/12/2022 and I booked via hopper understand the policy completely. Unfortunately we had a death which is why I am trying to cancel and hopper prompts you to contact the hotel because most hotels usually put their customers first. Well NOT the beacon and I could only imagine how terrible it would actually be to stay here. This man had a accent and just started yelling at me that it's no cancel and didn't even listen to me or acknowledge the situation. Again I only called because hopper suggested. I have been here several times throughout the years... this is a good hotel to stay at if you want to be in Ocean Drive/South Beach. Majority of hotels on ocean drive are old school Art Deco buildings- some of them better than others- I've been here several times and had pretty good experiences. Know that if you come to Ocean Drive on the weekend that you most likely will have a noisy environment regardless of the hotel. It is just noisy and crowded on Ocean Drive- people, music, traffic Last several times I've come here- I stayed in two different king size Ocean view room. Room was a good size. Nice size TV. Nice view of Ocean Drive and somewhat of the beach/Ocean. Comes with coffee make, well stocked fridge and snacks if you want to buy, ironing board, hair dryer, table with chair, sofa chair, 2 beach chairs , beach towels and 2 robes. air conditioner works great- sometimes it's even too great that it can be chilly. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom on the other hand is small - shower temperature takes a little bit to warm up at times , once the water was off and needed the front desk to take care of it which it was taken care of within 30mins. Other than that I was very comfortable . Also if you are by the elevator- like room 404- then you hear the elevator traffic. The elevator... soooo small and you can tell it's old because it's slow and sounds sketchy at times. I never got stuck FYI and I hope I never do lol. Front service and bell service - very friendly and very satisfied. Anything I needed (Requests or issues/problems) ,they were taken care of promptly Julio- the bellman is awesome and always is pleasant and professional Some reservations come with free Mojito and some come with complimentary breakfast. you sit outside which is nice. Breakfast is ok/decent- bagels,cereal, English muffins, fresh fruit like watermelon, (bland) scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, home fries, turkey or pork sausage, bacon, OJ and water. Toaster oven for bagel or English muffins When I'm in South beach/Ocean Drive- I never rent a car- I usually Uber etc . Parking sucks- there is street parking and I saw a garage on 7th. No pool at this hotel.That is why it is a little more affordable than most of the bigger hotels on Collins like W or Loews etc This is a good decent more affordable hotel if you want to stay in the middle of things on Ocean Drive and don't mind not having all the fluff and stuff. read more

Don't ever book with this hotel!! After i have researched and read reviews and seen pictures. I decided against staying here and when i called to cancel my booking. They tell me i would have to email them about canceling my booking which seems rather odd. So i emailed them. Never received an email back about canceling. Then i called them again the next day and a lady spoke with me and then told me that her manager was busy. I said ok, but you aren't busy and were able to answer the phone and speak to me. She said we would respond by the end of the day. So i sent another email to cancel. Well they never responded back to my email or anything. On the 3rd day i called and a guy answer's the phone it's after 7 and then informs me to call back in a 4 hour range that the manager should be in to speak with me. So i am just going to my bank to dispute these charges they have taken. They were only supposed to charge my account so much then pay the rest in full at arrival. From what i seen online, I go on to my account and check the charges and i see they charged my card full price. They are trying everything they can to keep my money! Not today! When they tell you that you have to email them to cancel and they can't/won't cancel over the phone. Which i have never had a problem with hotels doing it before. Unless i book through a 3rd party then i call them. But this should automatically signal a red flag about this hotel!! read more

I would wake up n gazing out of my ocean front window to see festive Ocean Avenue n beautiful Lummus Park, such a spectacular beach view and for this, Beacon hotel rates a 5 stars for me but but there are many problems. I was disappointed the brochures mentioned a mouth watering buffet breakfast so if they no longer had it, they should have updated it as this was one of the 2 reasons I booked here. They gave such a basic package breakfast I cannot eat, lame oat meal, muffin, apple juice, could they at least downgrade a buffet to a donut? A bagel ? A danish? My husband had to walk to a bakery to get me some pastry, the room espresso coffee was good though. The towels were soft n the pillows were amazing But the bathroom is fundamentally flawed,it's just too inconvenient, very small space around the small sink, I guess it's in the Art Deco old district, you can't expect bigger bathroom. I love the location so much n the hospitality of the staff, Julio was the nicest guy n friendliest guy ever but I cannot rate this hotel higher than 3 stars because of an unacceptable problem, it was freezing everywhere in the hotel, I had begged them every day to up the thermostat then I found out not only there was no heating whatsoever but the air conditioning was set in stone at about 55F, w the windchill factor cold air seeping in, the humidity it felt like 45F. Needless to say it was a nightmare unless you are an Eskimo, stay away from this hotel, you could get pneumonia and or Covid19 as an opportunistic add on. I'm not exaggerating, they gave me a heater that made so much noise, I was a zombie every day from not getting decent sleep, I have been coming to South Beach for 12 years, it was never this cold, in fact it was 78F the 1st day but we got bad weather the rest of the week. Install a heating system and this can be a 4.5 stars, otherwise if you were not born in the North Pole, stay away!! Lol . read more

Yes, the rooms are smaller than a traditional hotel room but and the bathroom is the size of most European bathrooms (itty bitty), chances are if you are visiting Sobe you are not there to spend much time in your room. We enjoyed our ridiculously affordable last minute getaway and were pleased with the amenities, service and location.
