Honestly I do not understand the 3.6 stars. This hotel is historical. It's prime location. Staff is all accommodating and friendly. Rooms are clean. Quiet on the second floor. Ac hits. Shower water hits. Bed is comfy. Price is fair. What are people complaining about? This should be 4 stars minimal.

Quick stop to grab a bite to eat. Food was very good. Price is reasonable and the view is really beautiful. 5 Stars+ Sergio was an amazing server.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating. All our requests were accommodated. Elevators are super slow. Take the stairs. Light continental Breakfast is served daily from 7 to 11am at the bar, in the lobby downstairs. Scrambled eggs, toast, packaged muffins, stale croissants, bananas, apples, coffee, tea, orange juice, and oatmeal. Very light, just a tiny snack to get by, so don't expect to be full. The hotel is pretty old. The walls are super thin. You will hear EVERYthing that is happening in neighboring rooms. We were in room 214. Our upstairs neighbors in room 314 woke up yelling at 6am and were super loud all morning so we got no sleep. We asked to switch rooms. We got room 316, on the highest (3) floor. Our next door neighbors in room 318 returned home drunk at 3am and were yelling and making a scene, so someone had to call the staff. Bring quality earplugs. In addition to your bill, you will be charged $25 per day per person as a "resort fee". What total bs, but a lot of hotels right on the beach charge this nonsense fee. What this enables you to do is to borrow a beach towel and chair to take to the beach.

Wife and I at the entrance to the Hotel Avalon, and the restaurant, A Fish Called Avalon, delicious by the way!

Decided to stay at the Avalon Hotel in South Beach Miami before a cruise to celebrate my wife's birthday. Let me tell you we're SO glad we did! This historic hotel is located on South Beach Miami's famous Ocean Ave. Even before we entered the hotel we were treated like royalty. Every member of the Avalons staff were amazing. Even though we only stayed for a short time the experience was one were telling even about!!! Thanks again to everyone at the Avalon Hotel for your exceptional service!!! WE'LL BE BACK!

    Baked French toast

Avalon Hotel has this romantic dinning area with indoor and outdoors dining, although I've only been here for breakfast. I've been setting so many pastries and sweets in Miami so I opted for vegetable omelet that was delicious!!! It was cooked to perfection with most of the vegetables diced which makes it easier to eat, especially if you don't like vegetables. But since this was seasoned and cooked just right it was delicious accompanied by small roasted potatoes also nice and moist not dry. Well I had to come back and try the baked French toast that was superb!!!! It had two different toppings which I'm not really sure what they are but buttery delicious with hints of honey. This is a must try spot for breakfast. Oops I forgot to mention that the service is amazing with helpful happy employees!!!!!

I had the pleasure of staying at The Avalon Hotel during Art Basel (Dec 1-Dec 7) and the property, customer service, location, and amenities exceeded my expectations. For those at the Avalon reading this review, my room was under my legal name, Amy Ballard. ;) Staff: The front desk staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and on top of their game-- I never felt like I would be led astray with them. Likewise, every morning when I enjoyed the comprehensive continental breakfast in a relaxing, clean, and chic environment (with an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean to boot), I was greeted by friendly staff who were excited to see me each morning. When we checked out and could not get a late check out, the front desk generously held onto our bags so we could enjoy Miami for another four hours before heading to the airport. Room: I had an ocean front room overlooking the famous Ocean Drive, the yellow retro car the Avalon is known for, and many beautiful palm trees. It can get a bit loud, but it's Ocean Drive-- one of the most popular streets for parties and entertainment in the country, not too mention, I was there for Art Basel. The room came equipped with beach chairs and a roomy closet along with modern toiletries. At first I could not locate my hair dryer, lol, but the front desk was super helpful and directed me where to find it (at the top of the closet). Room service was top notch and hooked us up with extra toiletries. Amenities: Wow-- A Fish Called Avalon (will write a separate review about the restaurant too) is one of the most delicious restaurants I have ever had a pleasure of dining in. On our last night, we ate at the Fish Called Avalon, which is attached to the hotel. The food was unique, and tasted amazing. The staff too, was friendly, doting, and unpretentious. The service in Miami is so much better than I have ever had in Los Angeles, where I lived for almost 14 years before moving to Las Vegas. Miami even gives Vegas a run for its money. There is an amazing continental breakfast with eggs, sausage, fruit, granola, yogurt, juice, and strong coffee that's complimentary with your stay as well. I looked forward to it every morning. Location: Fabulous location-- literally a five minute walk across the street to the beach and surrounded by restaurants and entertainment. There is also a CVS open 24 hours for little things one may need when traveling. It does take some time when wanting to Lyft or Uber to Brickell, Wynwood, or other areas but it was super close to the convention center where Basel was. Obviously South Beach in and of itself has tons to do. Cost: Very reasonable cost! However it is best to book upfront an in advance for the best rate. I can't wait to return, thank you Avalon!

Great location right across from the beach!! The rooms were on the smaller side for 4 people but it worked. Not many frills - but we were thankful for it beach chairs. The hotel also provides beach towels for use. There's also a continental breakfast included - we did have to pay extra for an omelet station one day but it was good. I'm thankful for the daily room cleaning because coming from the beach with sand everywhere was wrecking my nerves, lol. You do have to park in a parking garage down the block which was kind of expensive but expected I guess. Overall, great location if what you're looking for is on the beach and affordable and would consider staying here again with our kiddos. Staff was also friendly.

This was my first time in Miami Beach. My friend booked this hotel. Upon arrival we were told the elevators were not working and we were on the top floor. Then as we enter the room a horrible stench in the bathroom bothered us, in which we then had to buy a air freshener of some sort to get rid of the smell. Also, after looking around i came across a big dead cockroach just there on the floor. The stool chair had stains. Very small space to walk around in room. Bathtub and sink wasnt draining properly and the shower head wouldnt give full water because half of it was still coming from the bottom. Overall hotel was just average for me. Breakfast was given in to-go packages and were the same menu every day. Aside from being walking distance to the beach, I had no other interest. Not worth the money I had to give..

The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because there is construction taking place on the backside of the hotel where we are located, and every morning around 8/8:30am drilling begins and you can hear and feel the vibrations in the room. This lasted most of the day so we were woken up early and couldn't get any naps in during the day. Very annoying :( Other than that, we've enjoyed the stay. Clean room, nice front desk staff, great location.

My gf and I stopped through here on our way out before boarding our flights later in the afternoon. If you're toting your luggage and not a hotel guest, you will have to find another hotel to store your luggage while enjoying this most decadent brunch experience. Luckily we arrived early enough to our reservations to sort that out. Reservations are a must if you don't want to wait. The restaurant is gorgeous with various spaces designed differently but keeps to the exotic Asian theme. Dining in the atrium near the water feature in the middle with stage for the musicians is where we had our experience. Olga was our server. She brought us our special beverages not available at the bar: Bloody Mary's and endless bubbly in our glasses The offerings here are more than I can name, but there is something to satisfy every craving. The favorite for me is the caviar bar. It comes with all the proper fixings on a blini with Crème fraîche. Do you need a vodka shot to go with? Yes, that's also available also at the caviar station. Fresh raw oysters, clams or shrimp cocktail is available in abundance with everything else here. The ceviche was great. I passed on all the various noodles but had to have some lamb curry and basmati rice- delicious! I had some Peking Duck and leg of lamb at the meat station. The filet mignon and lamb chops was ordered and brought to the table. The leg of lamb and filet were slightly dry but still good. The lamb chops with chimichurri sauce was amazing- nuances of vibrant flavors. Assorted fresh fruits were a colorful collection of enticements. I saw some papaya and enjoyed its fresh, sweet juiciness. I am not a dessert person but had to try the key like pie. Then of course, the matcha dessert is a sitting temptation next to the pie. So, my dessert spoils were more than intended. What the hell right? Lol That was the sweet ending to my Setai brunch. There was so much more such as bread, fried stuff, eggs, bagel station, toast etc. One can only eat so much. I stuck to enjoying my favorites. The experience is pricey but so worth it. It is truly the best brunch experience I've ever had. - better than Vegas and a cruise ship!! I always have to experience a Setai brunch whenever in Miami!

You are walking through the area with all the guests and their luggage in your super large robe that doesn't close very well. I did not enjoy this. Some disappointing things which was not their fault is the parking garage construction noise even on Sundays. The noise took away from my spa experience. They did nothing for the noise control. Also, the SPA requests you must arrive 30 minutes before your treatment time. I got my parking validated BUT we stayed for brunch who also validated our parking but we went over the 4 hours so we got no discount for parking and we were charged the full $35 fee plus tip for the valet. The valet staff was quite nasty telling me we were there too long for the discount BUT each one of those alone qualified for a discounted valet. You can not do both in the 4 hour window.

The staff were generally friendly, and a few were especially helpful. They handled three packages I had shipped to the hotel efficiently, though there was a sizable per-package fee. Small touches like afternoon boozy gelato samples and a lobby change machine for breaking $20s into $5s were appreciated. Breakfast at Lolo's was decent. My Marriott status included breakfast for two, though the included menu was much shorter than the regular one and the portions were modest. Still, the food was cooked to order, tasted good, and the servers kindly let me order both breakfasts since I was traveling alone. I didn't try the Japanese restaurant on site, but I heard good things and enjoyed the neighborhood restaurants instead, especially La Grande Boucherie. I paid a substantial premium for an oceanfront double room, but I'm not sure I would do that again. The balcony and glass door were fairly small, and the balcony felt boxed in for privacy. Next time I might prefer a cheaper park-side room on a higher floor, which could still offer a nice park and ocean view. The biggest disappointment was the late checkout. My Marriott Platinum Elite status is supposed to include guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, but the hotel would not honor it. Each day I was told to check again later, and in the end they could only offer 1 p.m. That created real scheduling problems, since I had planned around the advertised benefit. With no good place in the hotel to work or take calls after checkout, I ended up going to the airport hours early. The status is supposed to provide a room upgrade, but that wasn't available either. A couple of other issues matched complaints I had seen in recent reviews. One elevator stopped for several minutes with a group of us inside and did not respond to the buttons, which was uncomfortable even though the door eventually opened. I also received a call inviting me downstairs for a "welcome gift," which turned out to be a Marriott Vacation Club sales pitch. That should be presented more honestly. Overall, this was a decent stay and I might return. But given the failure to honor the guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, I would compare other options carefully before booking again.

The drinks were excellent, the food was great, and the waterfront setting made the experience even more special. The entire property has a laid-back luxury feel, with beautiful landscaping, comfortable seating areas, and amazing views. Whether you're visiting for a spa day, drinks by the pool, or Happy Hour at Lido, The Standard delivers a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend for a relaxing day in Miami Beach!

The rooms have been thoughtfully re-designed, but still have that cold Miami cinder block feel. In other words you won't do more than sleep in them. The pool area is fantastic with a bay view and plenty of chairs. Lido Grill, the main restaurant, is nicely done and people / pet friendly. Service was good, once you got their attention, which was on you, not them...we had the lobster, fairly priced at $39, but was like rubber and inedible. Sides were a throw away. Drinks were very good. Other points, nice mini bar in room, however NO coffee in room and coffee shop doesn't open until 7 AM. A regular room, facing back away from bay, dinner for 2, minor mini bar invasion (2 drinks) valet, was over $1100. Not worth the cost.

Fontainebleau Miami isn't just a hotel -- it's a full‑scale Miami moment. The kind of place where…read moreyou walk into the lobby and instantly feel like you've stepped into a glossy magazine spread. High ceilings, marble everywhere, and a buzz that tells you you're in the right place. What impressed me most? There's genuinely plenty to do for all ages, which is not something you can say about every Miami resort. Whether you're traveling with kids, teens, adults, or a multigenerational crew, everyone finds their lane here. The pool scene is the heartbeat of the property. Multiple pools, each with its own personality -- family-friendly areas with space to splash, quieter corners for lounging, and the high-energy spots where the music and cocktails flow. Service was dialed in across the board: fast, friendly, and always one step ahead. Rooms were spotless and stylish, with balconies that make you want to order room service just to soak in the view a little longer. Housekeeping kept everything crisp, and every request was met with that effortless "of course" attitude. Dining is another standout. From quick bites to full-on fine dining, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Even the grab-and-go spots felt elevated. And if nightlife is your thing, you don't need to leave the property -- the energy here after dark is pure Miami. But if you're traveling with kids or just want a low-key night, the resort still feels comfortable and accessible. Fontainebleau nails that rare balance of iconic luxury and all-ages fun. It's bold, glamorous, and buzzing in all the right ways, yet still manages to be welcoming and easy to enjoy no matter who you're traveling with. A true Miami classic that continues to deliver. Enjoy

This is a tourist trap extraordinaire. It made me feel like I was paying to be in a place trying to extract from me, not serve me. And yes, I did complain twice to the front staff about these issues - to stony faces and lame excuses that were canned and code for "we don't care." The resort fee is $60/day (which is not made clear on Orbitz, where I booked it), yet when I went in February the pool and all outdoor facilities - which is what the resort fee pays for - closed at 6pm. We were told it closes at "sundown," even though they clearly have outdoor lights for the whole outside facility. Want to swim in the evening or night? Nope. All those pictures with the pool lit up? Not for you. And if you dare to be in the pool at 6:01, there were six staff for every one guest to tell you to get out. Seriously, we got warnings to get out at 10min to 6, 5min to 6, and at 6:00. Why every five minutes? Because a group of staff members were hovering over us, watching and waiting for the moment to kick us out. Very relaxing. You have to wear an armband everywhere you go. Staff are at every door as you go in or out - hotel to pool or pool to beach - monitoring you to produce it. Very relaxing. There is no coffee in the room, forcing you to travel across the whole huge facility (3 towers connected by long walks) to their coffee shop to pay $10 for a cup of coffee each morning. You could walk all the way back to your room, or - like me - you can try to drink it by the pool. But NO! You can't sit by the pool. Those seats and lounges require you to pay a fee, even in February when there was NO ONE there. If you don't want to pay, you can find a free lounge on the outer fringes. And if you try to sit without paying, there are staff to tell you to move immediately. Hovering, as usual. To get a lounge on the beach - in February, low season - we had to get in line to sign up for a chair and then get in a second line of 20-30 people and wait in the hot sun for an available, assigned chair and a staff person to take us there. Grab a chair and relax? Nope. It's a monitored system. When we checked out, the staff told us there were too many rooms to provide a coffee maker in each one. I guess their policy is to assume their guests are stupid.
