My husband had a stuffed french toast that was really good and huge. I had french toast woth sausage and i found it a little dry but im picky about my french toast. They have a huge menu, i could proably eat there every day for 2 years and not eat the same thing twice. We also had home fries and i was impressed that they were individual squares that tasted like they have been smashed, seasoned, flipped ,tossed and fried but looked like they were just cut and fried. In another words, looks were deceiving. They were yummy. My scrambled eggs were moist and fluffy, not overcooked and dried out like most places. Cornbeef hash was very good and crispy. Yes, we will be returning with our next beach trip. read more

If it weren't for the food I wouldn't go back. I have to say that the man at the register acts like he is forced to be there against his will. It's very hard to have a pleasant meal when the owner (?) has such a foul look on his face. I also have to say I noticed that since the new owner took over, I have seen business slip. This was a great find! We chose it after reading other yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. Most breakfast places offer the same menu... It is hard to do eggs differently. This menu offers a great selection and everything looked extremely fresh with large portions. We had the avocados Benedict, the avocado skillet, and a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The avocados benedict was the best I've ever had. The prices are reasonable, the coffee was good and the service was very fast and friendly. Our waitress was Colleen and she was great! We went at 830 on a Saturday morning and did not have to wait. We could have had a free breakfast at our hotel but we are so glad that we decided to try Beachside Café. read more

Restaurant has a great, classy diner ambiance. It is always packed. I recommend their salads. Very healthy, cold refreshing taste in the morning, especially after a workout or some time in the hot sun. Consider getting there early on the weekend because it gets packed around the 10-11am rush. This is the best breakfast I've had in Melbourne. The Eggs Benedict is outstanding. Perfectly cooked egg, toasted muffin, delicious sauce. Perfection. The corned beef hash and eggs was flavorful, wonderfully cooked eggs, just enough yolk to mix with the hash, but not runny. And the homemade rye bread. Chewy and crispy. How do you do that? Mmmmm. We were happy with our final beach holiday breakfast. I could appreciate this casual cafe's vegetable infused approach to brunch that I felt like many of restaurants in the area have been missing. I had the avocado Benedict which included its namesake, spinach, bacon, and all the quintessential Benedict fixings including two poached eggs, English muffin, and hollandaise sauce (on the side for me). My guy had the avocado scramble which seems fairly similar ingredients wise. We also indulged in some strawberry banana chocolate chip French toast. It was decadent... Served in a warm fluffy funnel cakey presentation. The decor was surf inspired and diner style. Full of locals which is a testament to its popularity. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant for years, while vacationing in Florida. We usually come over after watching the sunset. As always the sevice and food has been great........somewhat lacking since the new owner has taken over......I swear if he smiled....his face would crack!! He has been a bit abrupt the last 3 times we have dined here......only friendly when you are paying the bill!! But the rest of the staff is wonderful and the food remains excellent! read more

Great breakfast joint. Nothing that stands out as being spectacular compared to other breakfast places, but the food was good and the service fast. Corned beef hash was cooked on the grill just long enough to be crispy on the outside. Hash browns are also delicious. My friend had the stuffed french toast which she thought was great. It's a pretty small place and they turn over tables quickly, but i wouldn't recommend it for a large group. read more

I ate here twice while in FL. The first time was incredible. I arrived about 10 and the cafe was about half full. I ordered the stuffed french toast with only strawberries, as I dislike bananas, and it was fantastic! I don't know what they use to coat the toast, but I think it is infused with crack! The "small" orange juice was actually pretty large and only $2 for what was obviously fresh squeezed. If I had stopped there, I would have given a 5 star review. That meal was so good that I returned a few days later about 1pm for lunch. The cafe had two other customers and no waitresses, just the guy manning the register. I ordered the ham & cheese stuffed toast. That was a VERY different experience. The coating was still incredible, and the juice fresh, but the rest left A LOT to be desired. The filling was minimal. I could have dealt with that if it hadn't been for the hollandaise. I was really looking forward to that. I adore hollandaise - but not this hollandaise! It tasted NOTHING like hollandaise is supposed to taste - buttery, lemony and salty. It tasted...like....chicken gravy! And not even GOOD chicken gravy at that! It tasted like chicken gravy out of a can! I called my server over and complained. He seemed a little offended and shrugged the whole thing off with, "it's the same as we always serve, and we opened the can fresh this morning." I was appalled. CANNED HOLLANDAISE IS AN ABOMBINATION! He half-heartedly offered to replace the hollandaise with a sauce of my choice, but since I seriously doubted he'd let me in the kitchen to make my own hollandaise, (it's not hard), I declined. I did order a plain slice of french toast. It arrived cold, unbuttered, and without powdered sugar. I didn't eat it. Nor did I have the energy to send it back. At this point, it was apparent to all that I'd worn out my welcome. I got a to go box and left. Alas, my visit ended before I had a chance to make fresh hollandaise and rescue my sandwich. So...my recommendation is a hearty "yes" on the fruit stuffed french toast and the orange juice. However, do not, under any circumstances, order anything on the menu involving hollandaise sauce! Oh, and they share the parking in the back with the sefood restaurant next door. I forget the name, but theirs is the name on the lot, not Beachside Cafe. Don't park in the surf shop lot that is also in the back. It makes them cranky. read more

We came into the restaurant hoping for a table on a Sunday morning and the wait staff and host were extremely rude to our party and to others. One lady commented about the poor manners of the "gentleman" behind the cash register. Perhaps the staff was overwhelmed and stressed because tables were all full but that doesn't excuse unprovoked insults and attitude. Instead of waiting we opted to leave; no food is worth sitting thru that kind of verbal assault. We ended up going to Backwater where the food was delicious and the wait staff was warm, friendly, and inviting. I would recommend Backwater to anyone but not the Beachside Cafe. read more
