My gang of 10 was looking for dinner on a weeknight leading up to July 4th. We couldn't find any place that wasn't already at capacity except here. Was grateful we found this place as it had a huge rooftop dining area over looking the beach. Very scenic! However, there was hardly any service provided. We had to put the tables together ourselves. Tables weren't clean. We had to find a server as they were huddled around the bar for a while. Ordered food that took a while to arrive, in piece meal, and even missed my kid's meal who was waiting for so long just to realize they somehow missed her order. This wasn't acceptable as it wasn't even a busy night. :( On top of that, our pitcher of water was empty so someone threw scrap straw wrapping in there. When asked for more water, the server just refilled the water without noticing the garbage. Food was pretty decent, sushi rolls were good and my seafood pasta w/red sauce was good. It truly was the lack of attentiveness staff that brought the rating down. read more

Service Dog Repeatedly Denied Indoor Access at Beachcomer My family lives in the area and visits the boardwalk once or twice a week. At every other business we go to -- Sawmill, Ocean View, and others -- we are always welcomed with my service dog, Lincoln, no questions asked. Beachcomer is the one exception. On multiple occasions, the bouncers at the door have told us dogs are not allowed inside and that we must sit at an outside table instead. Each time, we explain that Lincoln is a service dog. Each time, the answer is the same: outside only. Rather than make a scene, we've simply left and gone elsewhere. This is a direct violation of federal and New Jersey law. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (Title III) and New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination (N.J.S.A. 10:5-29), a person with a disability accompanied by a trained service dog is entitled to full and equal access to any place open to the public -- including indoor seating, not an outdoor table set apart from other customers. A business may only ask two things: whether the dog is a service dog, and what task or work it's trained to perform. They cannot ask about the handler's disability, demand documentation or a vest, or restrict a handler to a separate area the way a non-disabled customer would never be restricted. This has now happened enough times that it isn't a misunderstanding -- it's a standing policy at the door. I'm sharing this so other service dog handlers on the boardwalk know what to expect, and so Beachcomer's ownership has a chance to correct staff training before this continues. read more

Loud but Boring The Jersey Shore show special here, so I guess you go for nostalgia. Loud and crazy if you like that. Beer is not that cold. As anywhere in seaside, clientel is always mixed. I was pleased that the place was not packed and sat on the outdoor terrace. Good service. Ordered a couple of apps. The table was very dirty, so was the bathroom and the couches on the terrace. Such a shame that disturbed the great view. Usually have live music and it is loud and jumping, but we expected more. It was just blah, from the band to the clientele. I've been going to Beachcomber for many, many years, back to when it was on the opposite side of the boardwalk stretched out to the surf on the beach. From seafood to burgers, their food is consistently good, and their pizza is my favorite on the boardwalk. The staff is always very friendly and attentive, and it's definitely my favorite place to hang out and have food, a beer or a drink on the boardwalk. They have a great jukebox, but when there's a band playing I find it a little too loud and the crowd can be a bit overwhelming. The rooftop deck is really nice and enjoyable when the weather is good. I've hung out at a lot of places on the boardwalk in Seaside, but I keep returning to Beachcomber. I always feel comfortable there. read more

Our waitress was new and I don't want to be harsh but I think this was her first job ever. Service was so slow, she kept forgetting simple things from our order and our food came out randomly. Full disclosure right off the top - this is not my scene and never has been. This is quintessential Jersey Shore, we pump our fists not our gas. It's a two-story bar/dance club with tons of pulsing techno beats (though not insanely loud, which I appreciated), and lots of guys with way too much hair gel and spray tans. Every cliché is right here for your viewing pleasure. My noble chum posse came here during our Seaside boardwalk people-watching expedition this past Saturday night around 8 or 9. I'd guess we stayed for half an hour or so, maybe a little longer. I imagine this place gets considerably busier later in the evening, but during our visit, it was pretty crowded though not overwhelmingly so. Our first stop was the bathroom, which was fairly clean for a Seaside bar though there was quite a bit of naughty graffiti in the stalls (pretty par for the course, and some of it was even mildly clever). Two of us then got drinks at the second floor bar while the other scouted the adjacent deck for a good table. We each got a frozen cocktail - I believe hers was a margarita, while mine was a pina colada-like concoction, both fairly decent portions. There was no wait and both drinks were received probably within 30 seconds of ordering. Perfectly acceptable for what it was. She paid, but I think each drink was less than $10, which, again, seems fine. One big issue - the floors were super slick. I never full-on slipped or came close to falling down, but that's only because I was super careful once I saw a few other people momentarily lose their footing. I'm honestly surprised they'd play with fire like this. A slippery floor with a bunch of inebriated people? What could go wrong? Other than that though, it was perfectly fine. We heard a lot of songs that I suspect are considered almost retro now (Flo Rida's Low is 15 years old now, which makes me feel beyond ancient), and there was a light breeze despite it being a humid summer night. You could do worse than this place, but make sure you have some tread on your shoes. read more

Came here for my birthday and sat down halfway through the game of bingo they were playing, I ended up getting 5 In a row and called bingo and the tweaker woman next to me yelled at me and said that's not how you win bingo, and the sweaty 40 year old loser behind the bar called me an a hole over the mic which was all jokes and fun but they did a horrible job explaining rules, actually to say they never explained the rules, bartenders were to busy slamming shots to explain the rules I guess, band they had there was fire tho! On my normal rating scale, this is a 3.5 but because our server was so friendly and helpful I am rounding up! I tried typical Boardwalk food that my friends ordered- lots of fried stuff not anything to write home about. I was however happy to see sushi on the menu and the sushi chef appeared to be rolling out decently prepared rolls. I'm also happy to report the sushi is good! Short Summary: The pizza was delicious, and the guy selling it was very nice, but the bartender ruined everything. He's been rude since I first walked into this bar. Full Story: I'm 21, and when I showed my ID on my phone in the official app with all my documents and a QR code, the bartender started loudly mocking me, saying it was just a picture. He took a piece of paper, showed it to everyone there, and loudly asked if he could take my documents from the app on my phone the same way. I pretended it didn't bother me and showed him my physical ID since I also had it in my pocket. After that, he reluctantly gave me my beer, and I said I would pay by card, holding up my phone with Apple Pay. He saw this and said that "by card" doesn't mean by phone, and I need to specify that it's Apple Pay. I just wanted to get my beer and leave, so I didn't argue, thanked him, and left. The next day, I came back to the same bar, smiled, said hello, was polite, and wanted to order two beers to take to the ocean, but he wouldn't sell them to me. He said I could only have one because my friend, who DOESN'T DRINK ALCOHOL AT ALL, didn't show her ID. So he said, and I quote, "you can have one, or none," and just turned around and went to other people. For my husband's family, the Beachcomber has always been their go-to for cheesesteaks when at the boardwalk. I remember they took me on my first visit to the shore. Hubby and I were back on the east coast for a visit for the first time in several years and for our last night in town, the inlaws suggested Beachcomber. Seemed like a great idea. We each ordered a cheesesteak and shared a side of cheese fries. Such a disappointing farewell meal. Some of the fries were practically raw. Someone obviously wasn't paying attention and/or doesn't know how to actually cook the potatoes. The cheesesteaks themselves were even more disappointing - especially in the bread to filling ratio. I was definitely eating far more bread than meat. We were all very disappointed. These are not the cheesesteaks we used to get. I understand that Covid has impacted supply chains everywhere and that restaurants especially are suffering, but there are ways to adjust and still serve a quality product to your customers. read more

I'm going to leave them at 4 stars even though this past visit was a little inconvenient. We usually come in on Saturdays early afternoon. It's great, there are the same 3 bartenders there every time, year after year. I like that part because they are good people. However, they stopped running tabs which is really inconvenient in a cashless society. If you wanted one $3 Bud Light you pretty much had to buy something else or pay for a round for your group to be able to use your card. Luckily they were lenient on the minimum but they told me "around $10." Luckily we sat at the bar for a few hours but needing to pay as you go was a little annoying. My favorite thing about coming to this bar, is the rooftop area they have. You catch nice breezes and views of the beach/ocean. When I come on the weekends in the summertime, they always have a live DJ spinning up good music. People dance and just enjoy themselves. Beers and Rum & Cokes are around $5, which is what you would expect to pay. They have a $15 Bacardi bucket, which is the best deal, as it is loaded with alchohol and taste great. It has some fruity flavors, but you feel nice once you finish it. There is also plenty of seating on the rooftop, so you will be able to find a spot. I have not tried the food here yet, but for drinks and atmosphere, I think this place is great and a must stop, when your in Seaside. read more

Loving the new 'comber with the upstairs patio. Great spot to people watch the boardwalk and beach from above. Food service upstairs is by the waitress only. We understand they are working hard but it was tough to get the waitress' attention to place orders. Music mix was great! A mix between dance tunes, mellow tunes and some rock. If we were picky we would turn the volume down a little bit before sunset, just so we could talk to each other without screaming over the music. Hubby had the crab cake sandwich $10 for 2 hockey puck sized cakes on a long roll. It was better than expected, served with slaw, and not dripping with grease. I had the grilled chicken panini for $8- not as grilled as a normal panini but it was a good, filling meal and good alternative to fried bar food. BIG CHANGE from what it was for years to what it is today . Been coming there for years with family , had numerous parties there and spent plenty of money . Well now it's a place with rude staff and dirty floors . Bartender with "Superman" shirt (Same one every week ) has attitude like he does not need our business and talks back like he is doing you a favor by serving you while taking shots with some of his friends . Bartender on the other side with cap backwards when asked to turn on one of the 5 TVs that currently off around the restaurant part of the place to watch the game , replies back that he doesn't want to ! Its a beautiful Sunday and a walk on the seaside boardwalk with My friend seemed the thing to do. The sun was setting and the smell of food was winning me over. As we walked the south part of the boardwalk music from the 80's and free style was coming from a second story balcony on top of beach combers. Never being here before was went up and checked it out. We located a table and got a drink from the bar. After looking around I realized wow everyone here my age and the music was when I was 21 years old. We ordered nachos and cheese which was very good, decent portion and the waitress was very nice. The awesome patio view was that of the ocean.
