As a renter STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. If you have to rent with this place DO NOT have any phone contact with them that cannot be documented. Always discuss matters through email and demand responses from them. I have rented throughout Long Beach for 6 years and never have i been so insulted and demoralized by a property manager. We left the day our lease was up because they were so terrible. I have several examples but the key is my last experience with them. We purchased a new stove a month as soon as we moved in because the one provided was 30 years old and i like to cook with functioning stoves. I contacted them to pick up the old stove and store away for the owner of the property but they said it had to stay on the premises. I told them there was no room in the garage because it was a small garage and parking in the area was already atrocious, so I said I would leave it outside and covered but any damage would be at there expense because we told them there was no room for it. Then after them not responding for several weeks they finally contact their maintenance guy to pick it up and now, after we left, they took it out of my deposit and stated that I sold the stove and owe the owner the amount. But it was all done over the phone and it is a he said/she said. They are thieves and I have filed a complaint against them and will be contacting the property owner to notify them of what a terrible company this is and hope that they get shut down. read more

I had the worst experience with this so called managment company. They have you fill out an application before you can look at any property. Charge you 30$ for the application fee. Then they called me the next day saying somebody got the apt I wanted and they wouldn't give me back my 30$. So basically they take your money and never show you a home. It's awesome. This review is based on one interaction only. Happy to revise if things change. I saw a listing online and filled out the contact form. I received an email asking if I wanted to schedule an appointment to view the home. I replied and suggested this upcoming weekend. I was told that their office is not open on weekends and they can only show homes during the week between 10am and 5pm. I have never heard of such a thing. Like most people, I work during those hours. I work about 45 minutes from the home so I can't even do it during lunch. If I was an owner using BCM as my management company, I would be very unhappy to find out that they are turning away potential business by refusing to show my home on the weekend (or even evenings). It certainly makes me very hesitant to work with them in the future. read more

Ended up breaking the lease in order to escape this company. Below is a portion of my final letter to them. During our 10 months at this residence we have repeatedly brought issues to the attention of the management and received little to no help in return. Below is a list of issues within the apartment that we've had to deal with some still being unresolved: * Sagging Flooring (Soft spots in patio floor & throughout apartment) * Heater (Constantly breaking down. Currently not operating again) * Garbage Disposal (Broken first day. Currently not operating again) * Stovetop Fan/Light (Has never been operational) * Countertops (Never repaired like we were told they would be) * Loose Power Outlets * Melted Power Outlet (Repaired) * Missing Outlet Cover * Dumpster (Relocated and now interfering with our parking space) * Parking (Space given away by staff and used by other tenants) * Garage Door (2 days of work lost because door was not operational) * Leaking Pipes (Kitchen pipes leaking to downstairs. Repaired) * Unannounced Maintenance Workers at 8pm (Requested to be scheduled) * Unannounced Mailbox Lock Replacement (Who else has key?) * Roaches (Insects coming out of walls from within building) * Closet Shelving (Shelving collapsed several weeks ago. I have had a fair share of problems with this company that stem from either misleading or inadvertently wrong deals and advertising. They have worked with me for the most part to get the problems resolved so they do deserve credit for that. It would be nice, however, to not have the problems occur in the first place. They need to do a better job making sure the information they publish is accurate. I cannot say whether this is intentional or accidental, but there has been a trend of inaccuracies. It makes it harder for me to believe that the inaccuracies are all accidental when the mistakes are all in their favor. What impressed me the most about this management company, was their ability to get repairs or maintenance done extremely quick. Payment flexibility was another great tool offered as I was able to select between a few days of the month I can permanently have my payment deducted. First of the month is always a bad time for me, but allowing a switch to a mid month payment really made this a stress free two years. This was the most pleasant experience I have had with a property management company. I would like to acknowledge my property manager, Ms. Leslie Keeney. During the five years that I have lived in this apartment, everytime I needed anything or wanted to resolve an issue, she was available via phone or via email. She has handled each situation with care and professionalism. For example, when there was an issue with the parking and the landlord had to take it away from us due to the parking spot lease terminated with a third party owner, Ms. Keeney negotiated for me and reduced the rent accordingly. About my move-out, when I gave her a 30-day advanced move-out notice, she arranged everything for me and made the move out process very smooth. The inspection went well and Ms. Leslie Keeney not only gave my entire security deposit back, which has been unprecedented for me anywhere I lived, but also reimbursed me for a remote control and a key fob that I bought when using the property. Well this place was the answer to a bad situation we were being force to move from our place and we were on our last hope & prayer.
