Gangjeong. Good flavors. Not crispy :c
Glenn C.

Side note: Requested name change to resemble bb.q Chicken - NY KTOWN (as used in said other better location.) This is the newest location of this Korean Fried Chicken chain also once known as OLIVE BBQ Chicken. The closest one before this was probably in Koreatown so it was a welcome sight seeing this here. I don't remember seeing the downstairs space from the other place being more similar to the one found in H-Mart outside of there being a bit of seating. As with the other spots, the mul/chikin-mu or pickled white radish you generally eat with said fried chicken is extra along with any other side/banchan (such as kimchi) which is disappointing but expected for this chain. I got the gangjeong as this is my usual order at the other spot. Gangjeong is similar to yangyeom or sweet and spicy and there was a good amount of sliced chilis on top. I ordered during lunch and surprisingly the chicken was not crispy compared to the other location. I'm unsure if this means that I happened to pick up one that was made this morning or potentially the previous day (with the latter being something I definitely do not prefer.) The portion size at least was nice for the price and it had a good spicy kick. If the chicken tasted fresh like the other spot, I'd probably leave a 4 as it is new but I couldn't help but feel that the chicken was prepared a little bit too long ago.

Decent Korean fried chicken. Not the best and it's mostly boneless chicken on the menu. I don't mind but prefer bone in. The batter is slightly spiced and chicken meat is juicy. I've had better but will try other flavors despite the expensive price. The portions are enough for two or three people. I recommend sauce with the basic fried chicken, you'll have to ask for it. There's two levels of seating with a dive bar aesthetic. Great for a group dining in. Wait time is short. If you have a basic taste and in the area for Korean fried chicken, this place is around.

Chicken was tasty but the size is nothing like you see folks eating on social media outside the city. Boneless wings usually white meat are dark meat. Regular wings are pretty small with small amount of meat on them. The wings are very expensive for what you get.

Something about korean fried chicken sitting around for who knows how long doesn't make a ton of sense to me. The space is big and accommodating, and the staff are very sweet and friendly. There is additional seating upstairs and a restroom on the bottom floor. There are other options like boneless chicken and fried rice, all laid out in heated spaces/glass cupboards and you grab what you want from behind the glass and pay at the counter. I got the classic soy garlic for $15 and it was a bit of a let down for me. I came at 7 so around dinner time and the likelihood that this is the freshest it's ever gonna be is high. The chicken was heavily battered, and the chicken under was super fatty. It was not a good combination for me. The soy garlic flavor is very sweet and obviously heavily garlicky. I'm not sure I'd try this again.

It's okay - that's all I have to say about this place. Nothing to rave about, but also nothing to complain about. Came here on a Saturday night looking for a casual bite and somewhere to sit for a few minutes after a long day. Grabbed a grab and go box of soy garlic boneless wings to share. Overall taste is fine - there are better options in the city, but for the convenience, can't be beat. Very sweet and garlicky, nothing overpowering with a nice crunch. Price is reasonable as well, especially for NYC. The atmosphere of the place is what you would expect: clean, simple, and filled with groups of friends catching up and chatting. We were seated very quickly and there seems to be a good rotation of customers coming in and out. There seems to be a downstairs area for those who want to order with a service staff that I'll check out at some point. TLDR: Personally, won't be coming back but if you're looking for a quick bite (perhaps, a work lunch) or you've never had Korean fried chicken this place is worth checking out!

super crispy and flavorful chicken! we got the original, honey garlic and the gang nam style wings which all came with a side of fries. The portions are pretty big but it was great leftovers for the next day. I think the staff are a bit new since we asked them questions about the menu that they weren't really sure about but overall great place to get your korean fried chicken fix.

This is just one of those holes in the wall that our sweet little gems you don't expect to be in ktown, but are. Walk down the stairs and you Can be seated if there is room. My friend and I ordered honey barbecue boneless wings and they come with fries, but we ordered a side of rice on the side for two women with moderate appetites. One order filled us both if you order wings, it automatically comes with fries, so there is no need to order any more, I've been here several times and I love coming to the spot in ktown!

Soy garlic, black pepper, French fries, and rose ddeok bokki

Food was very good, especially the rose ddeok bokki, you got to try it. Atmosphere was really nice and friendly. Service was really great, but the food took a while to come.

The meat was well seasoned with cumin and other spices, but some of the lamb pieces I had were largely fatty and hard to chew. If you want to pay in cash, make sure you have the exact amount. The meat was so flavorful and the fat was rendered beautifully off of the meat! The lamb was honestly so delicious though we weren't even mad!

It's a reason this place has been around for 48 years! You'll have some who say its not as good as…read morewhen they first opened but honey let me tell you they are GOODT! Some will also say it's a tourist trap but I honestly believe it depends on what your looking for in your dining experience. I also don't think it's fair to compare it to any BBQ you'd find in the State of Texas. There are key differences between Dallas BBQ v Real Authentic Texas BBQ. There's a difference in meat selection, cooking methods and sauce. It's more about the experience than "pure" BBQ. The most Texas thing about this spot is the size of their portions with food and drinks being huge. Also, if your looking for complex culinary, sophisticated, and upscale, this ain't it. If your looking for quiet, nope not here. Yet it surpasses today's run of the mill standards of good quality comfort food affordably priced. I purposely did not eat anything all day just so I could enjoy all my faves such as the sticky wings, cornbread and the turkey chilli. First off you cannot come here and not order the wings! It was my friends first time dining here and when she read the menu she thought the wings were going to be those tiny rinky dink flats and drums, but no ma'am! These are nice size WHOLE WINGS. Attempting to eat all 5 of them will have your belly popping out of your shirt and have you snoring at the table! I can eat 4 on an empty stomach but 5 is a lot especially if your eating anything else or drinking. So if you want to try other menu items get them to share or just be prepared to take some home. The Hennessey wings are good but after eating two of them the flavor is a bit overwhelming to me. You will not find a better chilli than theirs!! Their chilli is so flavorful without being spicy hot. I love that I can enjoy their chilli, it's the right texture, consistency, well seasoned and you can tell its good quality ground turkey. The drinks are lit! Generous amount of alcohol. Everything is TEXAS size even if your ordering something as basic as an apple juice! lol I guarantee you will not need to ask your waiter for a refill. Trust me! One major upgrade they need to do here is to the women's bathroom. I can't speak for the men's room except that there's never a line for it. Meanwhile the line hangs outside the women's bathroom and into the walkway of the restaurant. Its just not enough stalls to accommodate guests for a restaurant this size. The midtown location is MASSIVE seating between 500-800 people across three levels. However, there's literally only about 5 or 6 stalls in the women's bathroom. That ratio is way off. Anyhoo besides that this place rocks. Solid service and good food.

It was moist with the right amount of fat. It was covered in a very nice BBQ sauce. The baked potato was a different story. It came wrapped in aluminum foil. The only condiment provided was a very small container of sour cream. Butter was provided upon request. It was quite clear that the potato had been overheld for some time. I only finished half. The cold slaw was quite large and had just the right amount of dressing. Dallas BBQ is well known with several locations. I would think they would know how to make a better presentation.

When we pulled up to the restaurant, we were informed there were a few levels. We went to the second floor and they were happy to accommodate us. We were rolling 6 deep and the booth was enough for us, but barely. In our party, majority of us wanted meat with the exception of 2 people only wanting shrimp and something else. We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.
