The soy garlic sauce was very tasty, but I think the korean bbq sauce is EXCELLENT. It was soooo good I just kept eating them without realizing how many I ate. An adorable little spot right off of busy Koreatown! I'd never tried this spot before, but my friend recommended it, so I had to give it a try. Our waiter greeted us promptly, and was very sweet and welcoming. To start, we got the veggie potstickers, which were perfectly crisp on the outside, yet moist on the inside. It comes with a few sauce options, just like the chicken- we opted for the soy garlic sauce, which was definitely the right decision! SO flavorful and delicious. For my main, I got the tofu bibimbap- it comes with a raw egg on top that cooks as everything is mixed together. They give you a mild red sauce to add on top of it, which added a lot of good flavor. The food and environment are definitely 5 stars. But, the reason I'm giving 4 stars is, for my Arnold Palmer (half lemonade and half iced tea), I saw them use a lemonade mix instead of making it fresh, which I would've preferred. But it threw me off that in the same order of wings and legs, some leg pieces were huge...I mean 4 times the size of the other pieces. Despite knowing the Bonchon name for years and how they basically started the Korean fried chicken craze, I'd never been and finally recently made it to this one in Ktown. The various Bonchons in Manhattan close at different times; this one closes at 1 or 2 AM depending on the day. When we arrived, the dinner rush hadn't yet started so we were able to be seated right away. I ordered the small wings (10 for $17.15) with half & half sauces (soy garlic and Korean BBQ) and the coleslaw side option. The food came out much quicker than I expected. I preferred the soy garlic over the KBBQ. The wings were of a decent size too. The coleslaw was fine, but then again, it's coleslaw. Maybe not the best Korean fried chicken ever but still very solid and satisfying. The French fries ($6.05) weren't too shabby either. Service was polite and attentive from the various servers. Our water glasses were never empty. One of the large TV screens had a red tint and was showing a pharmaceutical infomercial. Weird but no big deal since I wasn't there to watch television. I got their medium size wings which came with 10 pieces but size it up to to a total of 20 wings, soy garlic flavored with a side of coleslaw. When I opened the container, I was indeed shocked to see how small the wings were. I remember the wings I had were much bigger in size. The ones I received looks more like slightly bigger nuggets. On the same thought, the side of coleslaw was very small. The side I had from the bayside location offered a bigger size container, not the fruit-cup size coleslaw that I got.
