I have always loved Sticky's. Recently they have changed ownership/management and the menu has been changed. They have an à la carte option, but you can only order à la carte, it if you order a meal. So basically you can add à la carte extra chicken to your meal but cannot get a singular chicken tender on the other court menu. The sauces have changed since the original Sticky's. This location is in the heart of kips bay not too far from the movie theater and a cheaper option to movie theater food. Came here late night after a party and chicken strips after a long dance/drink session really hits the spot. The workers were super chill and just happily vibing while serving customers. I asked if I could change my sauce and they just let me keep the other one. My friend ended up making some requests to change her order midway, and they were super cool about it. Hot honey was a little thinner and less full-bodied than I would've liked, but not bad at all. Sticky's sauce was pretty good, which surprised me because I'm a hot honey gal and not usually a fan of aoili-type sauces. So, chicken strips were good, but not exceptional by any means. Stopped by for a quick lunch. There was no line and only one group of people eating inside (it's a small spot, so there are only really spots for two groups to eat). If you're eating there, they take down your information for COVID precautions. Two of us shared 1 large crunchy poppers with fries -- this was the perfect amount as we weren't too hungry. The Chicken Sandwich Wars rage on in 2021. After shopping at Trader Joe's down the street, I came across Sticky's sign declaring themselves the "Best Damn Chicken Sandwich". In NYC, in the World? This I had to check out after having tasted Chick Fil-A, Popeye's, Wendy's, KFC, Fuku, Chick'nCone and the like. Even McD is entering the arena this month with a revamped Crispy Chicken. Do I dare to get the Spicy Chicken Sandwich? At $8.04, it's a decent sized value, more than your average fast food joint, but better than $10 at Fuku. You get 2 Hulk sized chicken fingers on a bun (with pickles), doused in hot sauce. In hindsight, maybe I should have specified a different sauce. The default Sticky's Hot Sauce was killer HOT and I usually like spicy foods. I tasted a little on my finger when I unwrapped the sandwich and thought, "What did I get myself into?? They put Carolina Reaper whatsis in here?" After the first bite, I was dying. I had to take 2 eat breaks for the heat to die down before I was able to finish the sandwich. Maybe next time I'll ask for the kids version because I don't like to cry in the middle of my lunch. I may be a little biased from having my tastebuds scorched, but it was not the best damn sandwich I've ever had, but it was OK. I'll have to come back to try just the chicken fingers with the many sauce choices and render another judgement once my tongue recovers. I came here for an online pickup during the COVID-19 pandemic in June and, I won't go into details about their safety protocols, but they were in line with what you would expect nowadays. Only 3 customers were allowed inside at once and social distancing is recommended. As for the menu, for first timers, it can be a little overwhelming with the different options, but basically everything revolves around their chicken fingers. First, you select what type of chicken you want (fingers, poppers, grilled or veggie). Next, you choose the size of your order, which will determine how many pieces and sauces you get (small, medium, large). Then, you pick your sauce(s). And that's it! You can also make it a meal basket for a few extra bucks, which will include an order of fries, or you can order from their menu of various sides, but those won't be included as part of the basket. If you're not into eating chicken fingers alone, you can instead order a chicken sandwich/salad/wrap, but who are we kidding? If you're here, you're a chicken fingers lover! I placed my order online for pickup and on the online menu I noticed that there were a few items featured that I did not see at the location's menu. One of them being the mushroom poppers! How can that be left off of the physical location's menu?! My wife and I ended up ordering a medium mushroom popper basket (12 pieces) and medium chicken fingers (3 pieces). Both with classic fries. If you're very hungry, a medium basket will do the job because the orders were huge! In addition, they did not skim on the fries either. The boxes were so full, they couldn't even close them. First, the chicken fingers were delicious. Not overly fried and had plenty of flavor to them. They had some crisp to them, but not overly crispy. Really a solid chicken fingers. The real surprise were the mushroom poppers! What have I been missing all of these years? Perfectly fried mushrooms and they weren't your average mushrooms either. These fungi were enormous. The order could have easily fed 2 people. To be honest, it was one of the best things I have eaten in a really long time - whether it was a fancy shmancy restaurant, fast food joint or casual spot. It was THAT good. Sticky's feels like it has been open in NYC forever, but it's never too late to finally try it. Finally decided to give Sticky's a try after years of walking past it to and from work. I wanted to see what the hype was as it's always buzzing during the lunch hours. I caught the back end of the lunch rush so the line wasn't as size-able as usual. Their menu and concept is straight forward and simple - chicken fingers and fries. Naturally, I ordered just that. Tenders on a bed of fries with a couple choice toppings. The sauce is what sets them apart. They offer around 15 sauces all of which aren't your standard bbq or what not. Excellent fast food joint! Hubby mentioned that this is a good place so we decided to get some food to go as we head back to Grand Central. Ordered some chicken tenders, grilled chicken strips and deep fried mushrooms. Believe it or not but it was great, even the grilled chicken strips - right? This place is a sauce lovers paradise! Of course, chicken fingers and fries are the main event - but the sauces tend to steal the show. With over 12 unique dipping sauces to choose from, it's easy to elevate any of their signature combos into something special. I dug into x4 tenders with fries and tried out the waffle sauce, mac sauce, and their signature "sticky sauce". The chicken was well seasoned in a traditional southern style rub. Not too crispy, with just the right amount of fried breading. The waffle sauce provided a nice maple sweetness that paired well with the tang of their sticky sauce. Only complaint, the service was a bit slow. But I imagine that's a result of COVID staffing limits. Are you looking for a misleading name in food? Well you've found it! When I hear sticky, correct me if I wrong, but I minimally think of juicy or saucy chicken. This place was nothing of the sort. NOTHING OF THE SORT. Paper is juicer than the chicken I had. It was giving clay, air, chalk and whatever else you can think of that's dry as ever. However..... The sauce they include for dipping DEFINITELY helps! If mustard and bbq had a love child it would be this "joints" bbq sauce! Not at all an unfamiliar taste, but strangely addicting. I actually somehow kept eating and I've never EVER enjoyed eating nor cooking dry chicken. This was DEFINITELY a strange experience to say the least. Been here for lunch during my work break twice and was able to get a seat to eat. I've had the Vampire Killer basket, it was delicious but drenched in too much sauce for my liking - too much for me to actually eat the whole thing! The sauce is amazing so better suited for me on the side. Lately I've been getting the medium popper basket with Cajun fries for lunch, which is usually more than enough for me to eat in one sitting. I usually save the rest for later. The medium basket comes with 12 poppers + two sauces. I personally prefer getting the popper basket over fingers - feels like you get so much more for the $$. I had seen this place on a few food instagrams and decided to give it a try. As I went up to order I realized that the fingers were plain and came with signature sauces on the side. I was surprised because most of the pictures on Instagram showed the fingers tossed in sauce. I guess I will need to ask for them to in sauce next time! My oh my. College me would have LIVED for a shop entirely devoted to chicken fingers (as it were, I would get the Friday special from JJ's that was chicken tenders, honey mustard, and a basket of fries. The Freshman 15 is very real.). At this point, I've tried nearly all of the flavors of dipping sauces, though I'm partial to a few of their signatures (like the white BBQ, the tzatizki and cilantro/jalapeno. The taste can sometimes be a little inconsistent depending on the time of day you go in - there were a few times where the meat was super unevenly coated or tasted like perhaps they had been sitting out for awhile. (1) Vampire killer: My favorite. Just don't plan to be around people for the rest of the day. It's way too salty and will leave your mouth feeling completely dried out but the euphoria of eating it is worth it. Perhaps. (2) Buffalo blue: I really like how tangy and sharp the sauce is. I'm also very strongly anti-blue cheese and, the first time getting it, appreciated that there wasn't a fistful of that stuff dumped on top. (3) Thai fiesta/Honey BBQ club: Sometimes the sweet sauces end up way too sugary. The honey BBQ in particular was way too prominent - it needed some extra heat or acidity to balance it out. Tried a bite of a friend's salty caramel pizza and ... let's just say that caramel does not belong on chicken. It just doesn't work. I'm also a big fan of their wraps in case you want a slightly less messy option, in particular the ranch BLT.
