Without a doubt, absolutely positively, a Top-3 Chicken Shawarma wrap in LA! .....maybe even #1!…read more This one Yelp elite dude said "Run, don't walk to try this place", and he was so right. The chicken shawarma was perfectly juicy, tender, nicely marinated and was accompanied by their special sause along with cucumbers. tomatoes and some herbs. The sauce didn't overpower the fresh amazing flavors of the other ingredients and you could truly taste the chicken and the veggies. All of that goodness was wrapped in a grilled but super soft lavash bread. Being so thin and soft, the lavash bread still maintained its composure, didn't fall apart and each bite was a treat. Absolutely amazing. The customer service was very friendly and the gentleman explained to me that they are redoing the inside seating and that there would be many tables inside. For today, I ate right outside at a table, close to their mesquite grill, where probably all the magic happens. Can't wait to come back to this place to try some of their other meat bbq items. Bravo on the chicken shawarma wrap!

A restaurant chef took my order, and answered my questions about the business. Opened about a year ago. Family-owned. Transparent kitchen can be seen from dining room through window. Menu looked good, but unfortunately does not include their BURGER menu. I suggested they add their burgers to their restaurant menu, and they pointed to their Instagram--very nice photos, but I still hope they add their burgers to their dining room menu. Very friendly and very committed staff. Clean dining room. Plenty of parking. No bathroom, so don't count on it. Plenty of tables plenty of seats. One of the best chicken shawarma wraps I've ever had. I love condiments, but I never felt the need to add anything to my wrap. They do mostly takeout and can light up a grill for large orders. Soft drinks in soda cans and homemade yogurt + cucumber beverages available. Great local business offering quality food made with best ingredients. 5 stars.

I really wanted to give Dr. Hogly Wogly's BBQ another chance because I had been here years ago and…read morehoped the experience would be better this time around. Unfortunately, it was another disappointment. To be fair, they were busy, and I understand that a full restaurant can put pressure on both the kitchen and the front-of-house staff. But being busy should never be an excuse for poor food quality, inconsistent service, or a lack of standards. We ordered the beef ribs, pork spareribs, and brisket. The portions were definitely generous, but the quality was simply not there. The brisket looked like it had been pre-sliced and left sitting in a pool of grease and juices. (as I asked the Server she did confirm this was true. ) It fell apart, yes, but not in the way great brisket should. It lacked the richness, balance, and true smoked flavor that good barbecue is known for. Instead of tasting freshly sliced and properly held, it felt tired and over-rested. The beef ribs were tough, and the pork spareribs were extremely dry almost like chewing on cardboard. That was probably the most disappointing part of the meal. For a place that has built its identity around barbecue, there was very little real smoke flavor in the meats. That alone says a lot. The barbecue sauce had decent flavor, although it was a bit runny for my taste. The barbecue beans, on the other hand, were actually delicious and one of the few highlights of the meal. Then there was the bread. We were told it was "half a loaf," but it was really just a very small piece, closer to the size of a bun. On top of that, the bottom was soggy, like it had been sitting too long on a steam table or in trapped moisture. The service was slow. The girls working were clearly busy and trying, but it did not feel like anyone was guiding them with real standards of service or hospitality. There is a difference between being overwhelmed and being untrained, and this felt more like a lack of leadership and structure. I also asked to speak with the chef. One server told me she would go get him and that he was there. Then another server said he was not there. That kind of inconsistency only added to the frustration and made the whole experience feel even less professional. I respect that this restaurant has been around since 1969, and longevity does mean something. But being around a long time does not automatically make a place great. In my opinion, they should not be pushing the idea that they are among the best barbecue spots in the country, because based on this experience, that is nowhere near reality. This is not even close to the quality standard of a true Texas barbecue spot. I was also disappointed by the overall condition and cleanliness of the property. I understand the idea of maintaining an old-school feel, but there is a line between rustic charm and an environment that simply does not feel sanitary or well-kept. To me, it felt like the latter. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that they clearly have the history, the name, and likely the resources to do much better. I do not mind paying for quality, but I do mind paying for quantity when the quality is missing. That is exactly what this felt like. I sincerely wish them continued success, but we will not be coming back.

This place was ok, but in comparison to the other places we go, it doesn't compare. The place was empty when we arrived and the people and service was nice. It was very clean and the waiter was able to get our drink orders and food right away. The meat quality was ok but I did not like the salad at all. It was like they got it out of a plastic package from Vons. It was like a salad you would get on an airplane. My favorite meat is bulgolgi and it's always a hit with me. However, with my family, it's either a hit or miss and this time, it was a huge miss. I don't think they were fans of this spot and would prefer our other spot. Overall, I probably wouldn't return and if someone wanted to go here, I'd probably suggest other spots in the city. OOO 3 out of 5 Afros

The jambalaya and gumbo were the best items I ordered today (11/11). I will definitely order these again. They were the best I ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned with high-quality meats, and very good. It's the best I've ever tasted. I've only had commercialized gumbo and jambalaya at chain restaurants. I didn't order any grilled meats. I anticipate the grilled meats being tasty because I tasted some of the meat in my gumbo and jambalaya at it was good and cooked to perfection. The sides were disappointing and I will not order again: Mac and Cheese: A little dry. Too much salt, too much unmelted cheese. Lacked a creamy inside. The bottom and top were just globs of unmelted cheese. Will not order again. Collard Greens: Tasted bland as if from a can. Mixed with spinach and mainly tasted like spinach. Will not order again. I added the greens to my gumbo so I didn't waste them. Let's be clear, the greens weren't horrible. I grew up picking and eating freshly picked collards so I have high standards for greens. Red Beans & Rice: Beans were cold and tasted like they were from a can. Not the Louisiana red beans and rice I was expecting at all. Rice was undercooked with a slight crunch. I added the rice to my gumbo when I reheated it on the stove. I will figure out what to do with the beans. Customer service was good. The lady was very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure every customer was taken care of. She even gave out peanut butter cookies while we waited. Bring your patience as this is a small-scale (lean) food-service establishment. I spent $30 for 2 half orders of gumbo and jambalaya ($10 each), and 3 sides. I probably could have saved a few dollars if I ordered a veggie plate. It was a little pricey for the portion sizes. I charge it to the gumbo and jambalaya which was $10 each and served in 8oz containers. I usually pay $8 for 12oz or 16oz of soup. On a positive note, I got to sample the menu. I know what I like and don't like. I don't expect to like every menu item at any restaurant. Bottomline, I will go again.

The interior decor is a bit outdated, and it's a bit cramped. I cannot for the life of me fathom what would cause it, but there is a distinct odor from the place itself. It doesn't prevent me from enjoying my meal, but it is pretty strong. Also, the unfortunate location of the place which is near a 7-Eleven and near a major crossing street, just made the experience a bit unnerving. You see homeless folks (or unhoused, if you want to be politically correct) lounging around, and you're left to wonder when the next riot or zombie outbreak will happen. Otherwise, the food is great, it felt like home and pretty delicious. It was packed with flavor, albeit the price is a bit steep. I have no other issue with the place, I think it deserves its fair share.
