BB.Q Chicken Oxnard just opened here in The Collection and is a nice addition to the area. I love Korean Fried Chicken and tried the BB.Q Chicken chain at other locations. Service was okay -as he seemed a bit reluctant to grant my request, when I ordered a 24 pieces of chicken (12 pieces Gangjeong flavor and 12 pieces Honey Garlic). Both flavors were good, as next time I'm going to order a flavor with more spice/heat in it. Lots of breading, nice and crispy, but a bit oily (see my pics). Indoor and outdoor seating available. They have multiple TV's with sports playing (see my pic). The Collection has lots of free parking -but can get busy on the weekends.

Ambiance is always clean and welcoming. Service is typically friendly. Be aware that there's often a decent amount of waiting time for orders to be ready. We come here for the Cheesling fries - 5/5 delicious!! Definitely would recommend. It is sweet and flavorful. I can say it's addicting. It's always perfectly seasoned. Sweet potato fries - 2/5 the little one really wanted these. They aren't impressive at all. Very plain and soft. Son rarely touched them, which is rare. Their chicken pieces are often great in size compared to other places. Soy garlic chicken, boneless - (4/5) flavorful and delicious. It comes out soft and moist, definitely lacks that crispiness/fried chicken coating we are expecting when we order Korean chicken. Gangnam style chicken, boneless - (4/5) you can definitely taste the pepperish flavor as stated in their menu. It has the right amount of sweetness and subtle spice. Would recommend nonetheless. These were also not crispy at all. So that can be a bummer. Their ramen dishes are pretty good along with their rice cakes. Some dishes are spicier than others, but they're all tasty. Will have to return to try their tofu option.

I cannot believe I've been sleeping on bb.q Chicken at The Collection in Oxnard...honestly, shame on me because this place is BOMB! Football Sunday felt like the perfect excuse for fried chicken + beer, so I finally pulled up. The menu is stacked...chicken wings, boneless wings with over 10 sauces to choose from, rice bowls, soups, and even Ddeok-Bokki. But here's what I tried: Soy Garlic Korean Fried Chicken: If you've never had Korean fried chicken, prepare for your world to change. It's crispier, juicier, and more tender than anything else out there. That soy garlic glaze? Sweet, savory, addicting. Easily some of the best fried chicken I've had in a LONG time. 10/10 Bulgogi Rice Bowl: If "bulgogi" is on a menu, I'm ordering it, no questions asked. Tender, marinated beef over white rice with green onions and a mountain of danmuji (yellow radish). Simple, comforting, and the perfect sidekick to the chicken. 10/10 Kloud Korean Beer: Why did no one tell me about this beer sooner?! Malty, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. The perfect match for a carb-heavy feast. I may have finished it a little too fast. Lol 9/10 (had they served it with a chilled glass that would have been perfection). The vibes inside? Super clean, friendly staff, food coming out hot and fresh, and plenty of big screens to catch the game. Low-key, delicious, and absolutely worth a stop next time you're at The Collection. Trust me... don't wait as long as I did. This spot is SPECIAL. :)

This was a good experience! The place is small but there is plenty of seating inside and some outside as well. You are quickly greeted by staff as you walk to the cashier counter. We had wings, fried rice and the poutaine. The wings were pretty good but I favor the honey garlic over the Gangnam style. The poutaine was amazing and every bite was full of flavor. The rice was just ok to me. Clearly the food is made super fresh because it takes time for it to be served to you and it's always crispy and hot. I will be back to try other menu items and flavors. bb.q Chicken is a great place and I recommend you give it a try!

So happy to finally have a Korean Fried Chicken place in Ventura County! It was really busy for opening day. The dining area was full, there was a long line to order, and some confusion on where you can pick up takeout orders. Service can still be improved. However, the food was delicious! Tried the half and half chicken with original and secret sauce flavors. Chicken was flavorful and juicy on inside and crunchy on the outside. Secret sauce was tangy, sweet and mildly spicy. Also tried the rose ddeok-bokki and it was so good! It was mildly spicy, creamy, and had a nice seafood flavor. The rice cakes were chewy and the fish cakes were delicious! Overall, a bit pricy for what you get but totally worth it if you're craving legit Korean fried chicken and rice cakes. So happy to see this spot open up at The Collection and definitely coming back for my K.F.C. Cravings!

Went here after they've been opened for a few days. The line for to-go order was quite long. We opted for dine-in and we waited for 20mins... not too bad. The staff was very nice, attentive, and one came to welcome us and apologized if the wait was long. That was a nice gesture. Ordered the gangjeong wings & honey garlic wings. Both are good. Although I prefer the gangjeong, more flavorful. I just wish it comes with more radish, although they do sell it if you want extra. The fries is really good too. I'm just glad 805 finally has a legit KFC. Will return.

Stopped in today for another weekday lunch and this place did not disappoint. I came with 5 other colleagues and we were serviced very quickly at the ordering counter and our food came all arrived almost the same time. I was feeling adventurous and ordered their hottest chicken flavor, Wings of Fire, and it was FIRE. Literally making me sweat. The taste is good and they add a lot of extra sauce, so I recommend ordering rice with your lunch combo so you can mix the rice with the extra sauce. One of my friends ordered the dumpling soup and recommends it, too. The restaurant was spacious and clean, accommodating our party of 6. Parking was a little difficult because it's nearby Target and lots of other stores.

First can I just say I am absolutely Obsessed with the honey garlic chicken here!! Second, I am very disappointed by the amount of users giving one and two star reviews to this BRAND NEW business! Especially those judging for things that are clearly not the fault of the restaurant like the long wait time for food when they are very busy! If you don't have time to wait for food at a restaurant that just opened and is very popular, you should come back at a later date when the hype has died down. This is my second time here since initially coming in on within their first few days opening and it is 10x more busy today so I asked them how long the wait for takeout would be before placing my take out order. They told me about 15-20 minutes for a small takeout order which is in line with the 18 minute wait I had on my initial visit. It did however take a bit longer today, (25 minutes) but I had a feeling it would not be 15-20 minutes given how much busier they were. Although I didn't dine in either time, I have had no issues whatsoever - everyone has been very friendly on both occasions and happy to help answer any questions. It is clear to me everyone here is trying their best and they deserve some grace in their opening week! The food itself is incredible and generous portions - the chicken was so moist and flavorful and crunchy on the outside. The 8 pc boneless wings came with 10 pieces of varying sizes during my first visit and 9pcs during this most recent visit. It was extremely filling. I was sad that the corn cheese is only available for dine in but I understand why. When the hype dies down I will come back for dine in so I can have that. Nothing special about the ambiance. It is a casual place and the seating looks comfortable. There are a few big screen tv's which had games on. The only negative thing today I experienced is the takeout waiting area no longer had any chairs , so I was left standing for quite some time (I have back issues which can make this difficult at times). My guess is they needed the extra chairs to move to the entrance area where many people were waiting for a chair. Hopefully they will order a few more chairs soon so people waiting for takeout have somewhere to sit. Overall, I think this is a great new spot to have in the area and expect to regularly pickup takeout for the honey garlic boneless wings! I also hope people will be a little more understanding and patient before leaving garbage reviews... I would also recommend they update the app to allow orders to be submitted as it would cut down on people having to wait around for their takeout orders.

If you're craving something savory, sweet, and just a little addictive, K-BBQ chicken delivers. The flavors hit that perfect balance of soy, garlic, sweetness, and smoky char, giving the chicken a deep, bold taste that sticks with you in the best way. When it's done right, the meat is juicy on the inside with a caramelized, slightly crispy glaze on the outside. The service was solid overall. Staff were friendly and they quick to greet. Shout out to Alyssa she is very accommodating and nice.

Last time I came here the Asian girl with the glasses helped me and was extremely helpful. Now, there's a girl names Marianna L who helped me. She was EXTREMELY rude. Should definitely get fired.

Arrived around 7pm on a Sunday and were super silly and didn't put in a reservation beforehand, so we had to wait about 30-40 minutes before securing a table (pro tip: GET A RESERVATION! Sunday night is family night, so it will be tough just being able to simply walk in without a wait). After a beer at another location, we got the glorious text from Gen saying our table was ready, so we scrambled to get back ~30minutes later. We ordered from the regular menu. The brisket seemed leaner than I remember and didn't taste as high quality as it used to. The pork belly was cut way too thick, I prefer thinner slices so you can get a better char and crisp texture. The galbi marinade also felt a little off this time, slightly too sweet and missing that smoky charred flavor. That said, the service was above average and surprisingly quick despite how busy it was. Honestly, one of the main reasons I still come here is because there aren't many KBBQ options in Ventura County unless you're willing to drive out farther.

First, the gal who took our order was super friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Reminded me of We had the original chicken wings, japchae, kimbap, bulgogi bowl and the yuzu and grape ades. All of the dishes were wonderful. Chicken was nice and crispy --good flavor throughout and not greasy at all! The japchae had a great balance of flavors and the shiitake mushrooms, in particular, had really great flavor--must have been marinated for a long time to soak up all the juices! The kimbap was delicious! It was fresh and the pickle in it (Japanese call it takuan, idk what its name in Korean is) was super mild. It didn't overpower the other ingredients. The bulgogi was a solid dish. It had also the glass noodles on one side and plenty of meat and veggies. A good, well-rounded dish. We will come back for bing soo after the kid finishes finals, if it isn't too late! A local regular enthusiastically suggested we try it, so we will be back. The drinks were really delicious as well. Not too sweet and refreshing taste--I think each one is handmade individually. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It has all of the taste of real Korean home cooking at a good price point. It tasted like a typical Korean bibimbap you can get at many other places, but here it was priced at $12.75, while I've seen similar dishes at other restaurants for under $8. The wings were the same story. A small portion of five wings costs $12.99, and while they tasted fine, they were just ordinary Korean fried wings. Nothing about them really stood out to justify the price. Overall, the food is decent, but there's nothing unique or special that makes the higher prices make sense. In my opinion, the only thing that stands out about this restaurant is that it's overpriced for what it offers.

After a long day on the beach at Oxnard our family stopped by on a Sunday evening for a quick dinner before driving home. The restaurant is seemingly the only survivor left in a strip mall food court, leaving, after sunset, an almost eerie feel with the restaurant taking up one corner of an otherwise empty courtyard. We ordered and our food came quite quickly. We got the Tonkotsu Ramen ($13), which was quite poor; while the proportions were generous the broth was off and the ingredients melded together a bit too much, like a stew kept on for too long. The dinner bento box with teriyaki salmon ($17) was decent though, with great tempura vegetables, excellent fried gyoza, and good, if generic, salmon and spicy tuna maki side. We also got the B.S. II roll (whatever that stands for; $14), a California roll topped with cooked scallops and shrimp and spicy mayo. We've had many variants of this before (my spouse being a cooked sushi fan) and this was fairly mid, as the foodies say these days. A special note should be said for the service; our waitress, while quite busy by the end of the evening, attended to our needs, added on drinks later, and even put on the game at my request. Value, listed above, I found to be quite favorable. The food quality was limited, yet this still made for great budget pick. My expectations weren't high for this Fisherman, but he met them. The steady stream of pickup drivers and other families who came to that empty mall are telling, however. This restaurant has character that's for sure. Inside are eager chefs and friendly service, even after all these years. The prices are still insanely reasonable too. My friend and I split a sashimi boat for $45. That was six varieties of fresh fish, each with five large slices of sashimi. HOW?! In this economy?! Grateful that they can serve up fresh sushi at such reasonable prices. Their classic rolls and fried appetizers are also fantastic. My friend and I would both highly recommend their shrimp tempura. Fried up fresh, the batter was crispy and delicate. For rolls, go with the Fisherman's house roll as it was garlicky with a good sauce and fresh. The Vietnamese coffee had good flavor as well and had a good blend of bitter sweetness that complimented the food well. Service was fast and helpful. Peaceful ambiance for a Thursday afternoon. From the…read moreparking lot we could see only one table with a two people, but a large, happy looking, family was exiting with arm fulls of to go bags so we decided to chance it, my partner especially excited for hot pot. We let the group pass us and entered the restaurant. We were promptly seated at a corner table and given menus. It did take a bit for the server to come back to take our order, but we did realize we came in 1/2 hour before closing, so we eased off a bit. My partner order the hot pot and was very happy with his choice. The server came back with a hot plate and instructed us how to cook the meat. I was a bit apprehensive about having to cook my own food, but the fragrant smell as it cooked changed my mind. The broth was flavorful and the veg and meat were tender as they soaked up the soupy goodness. I also ordered the boa buns and the pillowy texture, mixed with the soft pork and crunchy cucumber and carrots made my belly sing. We slurped up our food and cleared out as quickly as we could. I hate being that person that lingers at closing time. What I do regret is that I did not take more time at their counter as we exited because it was full of snacks and curios that I love. Next time for sure!

~ SMALL SPACE, BIG FLAVOR, A HIDDEN GEM ~…read more Gotetsu is one of those blink and you'll miss it spots, but once you're inside, you know you've found something sooo special!! Cozy, intimate, and very much a hole in the wall izakaya, this place is all about authentic Japanese flavors and perfectly grilled skewers. There is NO sushi here (they make that very clear), just kushiyaki, small plates, and goooood vibes. I've never been to Japan (yet), but I would imagine this is what it would be like walking into a small mom and pop shop there. The open kitchen is tiny but fun to watch, and from pretty much any seat you can see your food being made. It's a GREAT date night spot, order a bunch of dishes and share everything so much fun. We came for dinner and with a rotating menu of skewers and specials we were satisfied and it kept things interesting! Lunch is more limited, with preset options, but the quality still hits. The donburi is solid, the chicken curry is comforting (could use a little more protein), and the skewers, especially pork belly, chicken & onion, and meatballs, are seasoned and grilled really well. Veggie skewers like zucchini and brussels sprouts are simple but still tasty. At dinner, my husband and I loved the spicy garlic edamame, chicken thigh with yuzu pepper, ribeye skewer, gyoza, and the yaki onigiri (grilled rice ball with a crispy outside). Pro move: dip the onigiri into the leftover spicy edamame sauce. Trust. Ordering is easy with scan-and-pay, the owner is hands-on, and you can feel the care put into every dish. Take it easy with the ordering (they are typically skewer by skewer because you can easily rack up a hefty bill!) If you're looking for an authentic Japanese izakaya experience in Ventura, focused on flavor, not trends, Gotetsu absolutely delivers.

Ambiance- seating inside is generally small tables close together and the dining area is on the smaller side. An open kitchen area is behind the counter, but they also have more kitchen space behind in the back. They layout really reminded me of Tokyo Ramen houses that are designed for solo single eaters (as a lot of Tokyo casual dining is). During my meal, the majority of us at tables were solo eaters, only 1 other table had 2 diners. So I imagine if you're a larger party it, it may be hard to get seating at busier times due to smaller number of tables. Ordered- Tokatsu ShuShu ramen. The noodles were springy and bouncy. The broth is creamy and tasty. I still think I really enjoy Silverlake Ramen's Tonkatsu broth (I don't know what their secret ingredient is that makes it unique) but URamen's is still satisfying. I had 4 pieces of Chashu, 1/2 of a seasoned soft boiled egg. The yolk is seasoned in a very sweet sauce- interesting taste. They add a wonton crisp which is unusual for Ramen bowl! I would've like nori crisp but that's ok. Service- One server was taking care of the lunch crowd. The owners are Thai, and I believe the server is also Thai. She was quite polite. Usually I think most Thai restaurants offer that super kind, and humble service to customers. (I say this as Korean Ame, it's noticeably different than immigrant run Korean or Chinese or Vietnamese restaurants) I do prefer the taste of Silverlake Ramen, BUT they have even more limited seating. The parking and access here is easier and quicker than going to the Collection Annex, so I think this is another solid Ramen place. Note- They are closed on Mondays, and closed between 3-5pm everyday. The first time I came, was during their closed time.
