A wonderful find in Kenmore square, this location is in the old uburger space. I highly recommend the lunch specials. I ordered the boneless lunch combo (13.95 w/o tax) and it comes with six pieces of chicken, french fries, and a can of soda. I loved the variety of soda cans available to choose from. (I actually got to try a new soda flavor.) Food is freshly cooked to order and the meat is not too dry. The french fries is more tempura fried rather than just the regular fries. Service is friendly and prompt. When you order in, it is by QR code posted on the table. When you order it to go, it is at the front counter. On this hot day, the a/c is on full blast and greatly appreciated. read more

Wow, it took me way too long to try this place, and I already feel like I need to go back to try more. Their menu is simple but standout offering a variety of Korean fried chicken, various sauces, and even some additional sides and mains. But trust me when I say you can't go wrong with their classic golden chicken: it's unbelievably juicy, so tender, cooked to a perfect crispy crunch, and so flavorful! This spot is super cheap too for the quality and quantity of chicken you'll receive, and it rivals some of the most well-known chicken chains in my opinion. I love the fast-casual vibe which feels like more than just a quick stop but also a nice place to sit and share a meal with friends. At the same time, it's super easy to get takeout and there's locations all across Boston, so there's no excuse not to try it! read more

Solid place to get fried chicken! Both the honey garlic and the gang-jeong chicken were very yummy. The cheese sticks were alright. The cheeseling fries were good at first but when eating too much, the flavor gets a little overwhelming. I do wish the chicken came with a small cup of radish though (I've been to some places before where they come with radish instead of needing to be separately ordered). The service was pretty fast and I really appreciated the little water station they had set up. There were also gloves provided which I loved. read more

I've ordered a few times for takeout and their packaging is always really nice! The fried chicken boxes have holes so they don't get soggy and the multiple flavors are always separated by different paper compartments! I got the waffle fries and tteokbokki and they left the lid of the fries open so they were still crispy when I got home! The tteokbokki was a little on the sweeter side, but still had a nice spicy kick! The rice cakes weren't overcooked either and were really chewy. the chicken is always really crunchy and juicy, so getting that is a must. Very nice bbq chicken store with great staff and food! read more

I'm actually quite impressed with this place! Even though the interior is a little bit crowded, the food itself was welcoming and overall really delicious. Kimchi fried rice with chicken was a real hit, the rice being fairly tender but not soggy; the chicken tender, the kimchee flavorful but not overpowering, and the sauce mixed in decently and not overly salty. The flavor on the fried chicken was quite good as well, with a nice crispy skin on the outside. The ddeok baeki was fairly decent; I might have wanted it a bit chewier but it was packed w flavor and it was definitely spicy after chewing on it for a bit. The daikons were delicious too providing the necessary acidity to balance the fried food. read more

Great Korean-style fast-food chicken. If only there was one of these near where I live! I'd probably overdue it, so maybe it is better that there isn't one nearby. We had the boneless chicken 2 ways: secret sauce and Gangnam style. Both were very good, but I'd give the nod to the latter, as the black pepper gives it some real heat, without overdoing it. The chicken is tender and is coated in plenty of sauce. We also had an order of kimchi fried rice. The portion is large (easily enough for two people and then some). This is something I could basically eat for lunch or dinner anytime. Really tasty with a little heat from the kimchi, but not a lot. Service was good. We got the food to go -- it's fast food so ambiance is pretty basic in any case. Price is reasonable. read more

Looking to see if we can get some Kbbq around the area but stumbled here instead. The place was pretty quiet so we sat. Ordering was also very straight forward and no hassle. You just have to order online and pay and use the QR code that is on the table. The food came at the right time, it good and fresh. We got the soy garlic fried chicken and the kimchi fried rice, the rice was a big serving, good to share for like two people. I would love to get food from this restaurant again. Would be back soon read more

i was craving chicken wings on my birthday, so of course my husband took me to get chicken wings! korean fried chicken is my favorite, it's so crispy. we got the soy garlic 8 piece, and the cheeseling 8 piece- came out to 32$ with tax. the chicken itself was delicious! the soy garlic needed way more sauce, the sauce was barely there but the little bit i could taste- i loved it. the cheeseling ones were interesting, never had a cheesy chicken wing. it was good though! the place inside was clean. the woman at the counter though, was miserable & we felt like we were bothering her (the place was empty) which just makes me uncomfortable. will definitely be back, maybe to a different location though. read more

I'll start by saying I love bb.q chicken- tried several locations and they're honestly pretty comparable. I knocked off a star because I thought the breading on the chicken was really thick and almost greasy- kinda heavy on the stomach, but still a satisfying meal overall. I tried the galbi flavor for the first time and loved it! It's maybe one of my favorite flavors. read more

Finally got to eat in person and wow, it's DELICIOUS. We always get bone in chicken wings and they never disappoint. I have never gotten a dry wing from this place. The food is always made to order, chicken is always perfectly juicy and tender, and the flavors are chef's kiss. Their non chicken dishes are also super delicious -- you can't go wrong with your order! They also have gloves, plates, and napkins ready, which makes sharing super clean and convenient. I highly recommend coming to this location if you're looking for Korean fried chicken. The Kenmore location is definitely better than the Allston and Chinatown locations. read more

Is the J P location listed on Yelp? FOR JP I had no idea it's KOREAN! If I did I'd have tried a long time ago. You should ADD Korean to the name. Just ' bbq chicken' looks like it's just another chicken place. Adding KOREAN to the outside signage would, I think, get you so much more impulse walk-in biz. I'll add that while I liked the food, it was very heavily coated with thick gooey sauce. I guess I can simply order it on the side. The staff guy was AWESOME! So sweet, cheerful and welcoming. He is such a joy, that I'll most definitely come back read more

Yummy. It's a chain so everything is pretty standard but they make high quality chicken. I am not someone who handles head all that well and their chicken is naturally a little hot but still very yummy :) read more

Now, the side of their hot spicy sauce (didn't want the chicken drenched) was spicy, but too sweet for me. On its own, this delivers very well, they have special packaging that vents it so it doesn't come as a soggy mess. Since I wasn't much of a fan of the hot spicy sauce, I added my own stuff (I recently discovered Momofuku chili crunch, and been adding it on a bunch of things, including this!) Great crunch on the outside, seasoning (even without the chili crunch, its well balanced) , and juicy on the inside. Did I just pay $25 (including delivery) though to eat 8 pieces of boneless chicken? Apparently yes, and I would do it again (on occassion, $25 is a lot for fried chicken). read more

We've ordered from this location twice now, here's my review. The good: - the original chicken always tastes good, crispy and fresh. The not so good: - a bit on the expensive side - either there's no way to order it mild/less spicy or they just ignore customizations - I've order the chicken sandwich 3 times and every time I ordered it without sauce, every time it has sauce. Why have that as an option if you're going to ignore the request? - even the fries are spicy I wish they would consider the fact that not everyone has the same spice tolerance. read more

The best Korean friend chicken for Boston. I have been searching long and hard for the title, and Bb.q chicken currently holds the lead. After having tried this restaurant more than 4 times, the quality has always been consistent. Food I've tried: - HONEY GARLIC WINGS (Small 8 pcs - $16): perfectly crispy, the batter is thick enough to hold the sauces but not enough to overwhelm the tender meat inside. Flavor is as it sounds, the sweetness of the honey being balanced well with the strong presence of the garlic. - SECRET SPICY WINGS (Small 8 pcs - $16): I would not call the sauce spicy, but more of tangy. It is balanced with a sweetness. In general I like to order both the honey garlic and secret spicy to alternate, as the flavors complement each other very well. Both chicken order came with a little side of pickled radishes. - DDEOKBOKKI ($12): very standard ddeokbokki for Boston. Portion is an appetizer size. The highlight of the meal is definitely the chicken. Atmosphere: - I ordered takeout so I cannot comment. Service: - I ordered takeout so I cannot comment. Overall: - My rating stands only on the chicken, as that would be the primary reason anyone would go to this place. The sides are ok, but the chicken is beautiful. If you've never had Korean fried chicken before, this place is a good sampling. read more

Korean fried chicken has a pretty special place in my heart so finding this location was quite the surprise. I really only dabbled in the wings and chicken sandwich but I'd love to try some of their more authentic Korean dishes next time. A lot of various sauces for their chicken which was nice and the honey garlic and soy garlic were very well seasoned and tasted great. Cook time was also relatively fast which surprised me. Would come back here for some chicken but stay away from the chicken sandwich - it's a bit too plain when you can have wings. read more

Great Korean chicken! Cheeseling is a must try flavor that you don't get elsewhere. Note their boneless is not dry but quite fatty, unlike what's usually seen in other fried chicken place. Also, It can take a while for the chicken to be ready, so plan ahead for pickup. read more

Haven't watched that many Korean dramas but I definitely noticed the delicious looking bbq chicken they always had especially in Crash Landing on You. Today I finally had the chance to try after a couple years. Going to say a little disappointed. Went with a group, I ended up trying the Secret Spicy, Soy Garlic, and Spicy Galbi wings. I think the first big disappointment was the beer selection. In the dramas, they always had nice tall glasses of draft beer. Don't get your hopes up, they have a terrible selection of your typical canned beers for a ridiculous price. The chicken itself was super crispy. Breading was good but definitely a bit too overbreaded. Sauces were just mediocre, definitely better places to try. While they had a huge selection of sauces it's only one sauce per order. For example, if you get a large, you still only get 1 sauce vs somewhere like Buffalo wild wings let's you choose multiple. Overall, would be a better place if they changed some of their menu options and brought in some better beer for the full experience. read more

Stopped in again. Ordered their special maple crunch small wings order... Not enough garlic flavor.... I should have stuck with honey garlic., ice crust and crunch as always... Issue I saw was .. not much meat on wings under crust... infant baby chickens slaughtered too little Needed more fattening with meat before becoming a dinner for bbq customers. read more

bb.q chicken is a super popular chain with several locations in the Boston area. This is my 2nd choice of the 3 I've been to (#1 allston, #2 kenmore, #3 Boylston). Unlike the Allston location, you will seat yourself and walk up to the counter to place your order. They will give you a buzzer for when your food is ready. We got the onion rings, an 8 piece in a gang-jeong sauce and then a 16 piece in honey garlic. Both of these were boneless. The breading on the chicken was probably an 8/10 since the breading itself was very good but there were several pieces where there was no breading on certain areas of the piece. The sauce was very well distributed on each piece. I would highly recommend the honey garlic as it isn't spicy and is a bit sweet. There was also visible pieces of garlic on the chicken which was nice to see. The onion rings were nothing to write home about. read more

This is my first time coming here. The restaurant was very clean and stylish, very inviting and I would dine inside one day. The customer service was excellent very friendly and staff was very informative about the different flavors of chicken. I got the Golden original it's very crispy but well seasoned and the chicken inside was very moist and cooked thoroughly! The 2nd flavor I got was the Soy Garlic this flavor is AMAZINGLY good! The garlic and the soy is delicious and it has a nice crispiness on the outside but very moist in the middle, I could eat 18 of these wings that's how delicious they are! I will be coming back to try the other flavors also I got the wings with the bones didn't try the boneless option. But this place is a must try!!!!! read more

I love BBQ and all their chain restaurants! I particularly like the Kenmore location because it provides more juicy and meat than the others, along with it being crispier. Their Rose ddokbokki is great and they provide the sandwiches and rice bowls at this location, which is solid. Picked up Half Half whole chicken. We went with original sauce and it was not too hot! even my youngsters ate them. I also got the boneless honey garlic and the kids loved it. The fries were soggy by the time it got home, so ill order if I am dining in. The Ttukboki sauce is legit! Its spicier than other places but my goodness its addicting. The rose Ttukboki tones down the spice a bit but still spicy and yummy. Ill go for just the ttukboki next time.
