The original drumsticks were very crispy so delicious, the teri gold was ok (not my favorite), the sweet and spicy wings were also very delicious. The bad thing about this place is there are no tables for you to dine on. That's why I gave it a 4 star instead of 5. Will definitely go back for the chickens again. Update 7/09/16: This is the 11th time i've purchased chicken from them. The past 3 times has been a big disappointment for me. Don't know if they changed owners or what but the olive chicken strips are no longer crispy. The chicken is also very thin now (especially today). Its mostly breading. The wings were also horrible. Crispilicious Chicken Great Korean chicken to go spot. Takes 15 to 20 minutes to prepare. Their chicken doesn't make you feel as guilty because they use extra virgin olive oil. Their skin is sort of like Popeye's but with less breading and salt. I really like their sweet and hot, wings of fire. You can get an order of 10 or 20. My biggest complaint is that they only offer their 'fire' sauce on only the wings. I don't understand why they can't toss an order of whole chicken in the fire sauce. Why the discriminatory rules of saucing? The 'sweet spice' sauce is your typical ketchup based Korean chicken sauce. The quality of this BBQ location is consistent. They charge you a dollar extra for an extra order of Korean Radish. The Little Neck location doesn't offer Korean radish. Korean chicken without Korean radish is like Batman without Robin or Peanut Butter without Jelly. Korean chicken is incomplete without that crisp palate cleansing white sweet radish. Sorry folks, it just doesn't taste good! Advertising that you fry your chicken in extra virgin olive oil is clever marketing... but unless you're using uncommonly pure, ultra-refined oil, it's BS. There's a reason you can't deep-fry things in extra virgin olive oil: Its smoke point is lower than most other oils, and it would burn before your food was adequately cooked! "Prepared with the finest EVOO" is not the same thing as "We use only 100% EVOO." To conform to their claim, I'd guess that BBQ Chicken's fry oil is only some small percentage extra virgin olive, or else your chicken would taste all screwed up. ...Not that it was even half as good as other Korean fried chicken in the surrounding Murray Hill area. Everything was greasier than fried chicken ever needs to be. The plain fried was the best, but only because of the absence of the goopy, too-sweet, flat sauce that drenches their other varieties - a strange mishmash of flavors like "Istanbul grilled," Cajun, teriyaki, herb-marinated, etc. This spot is takeout-only and has no real seating beyond a small waiting area... so if the overwhelming glaze doesn't destroy all crunchiness, then your trip home surely will. Try it if you like your KFC steamed after frying. BBQ Chicken is a successful international chain, but its location here is like Pizza Hut in Italy... unfortunately put to shame by the KFC mecca in which it sits. read more

There was no flavor -- the website says they prepare the chicken "using over 30 of the finest ingredients" (I'd like to see the ingredient list), the biscuit looked like a frozen grocery store item, and waffle fries were nothing special (wonder if the fries were cooked in Veggie or EVOO). There is no seating area, just three little small U-shaped couches you can sit on for 10-15 minutes while you're waiting for your food to go. A little spicy and not greasy, it's definitely one of the better korean fried chicken places I've been to (for bbwings). I've tried some of their other styles and parts (ie drumsticks, colpop, fries etc) and none of them stands out.. I usually just stick to their bbwings. FYI my favorite wings place in flushing includes mad for chicken(soy garlic + spicy half & half), debasaki (stuffed wings - corn & shrimp), and bbwings from this place. Alright, I was hooked on their super-crispy drumettes when they were giving it out for free at the local H-Mart and I happened to snag one. So after buying my fruits and vegetables for the week, I decided to check them out. I hopped in my car, drove up the block and found the tiny little take-out place. If I had the ability to give zero stars I would. At first glance the place looks simple and satisfactory. Their food either from in person or delivery is delicious. Everything about their restaurant is a 5 star except for the attitudes of both the people at the register and delivery guy. When ordering from this place, you're getting served both the food you ordered and rudeness from the employees. Instead of saying shit like 'welcome how may I help you today' they look at you while entering with the most impolite and anger filled stare possible. In addition they messed up my order multiple times from in person orders. The guy at the register is so nonchalant about his business they wouldn't give two shits. The delivery guy of their restaurant is also to blame for the 1 star review. I was busy doing laundry in the basement and when my order arrived, the guy called me simultaneously about 7 times in 3 minutes and drove off with my order. I had to call him back and he proceeded to berate me both in person and on the phone in Korean. This is all because of the impatience from an old Korean guy who couldn't wait an extra 30 seconds. Years ago, I tried the BBQ chicken in manhattan, and was terribly disappointed. Time passes and I want to give it another try, especially as I notice there is a location in my neighborhood... walking in makes me hesitant as it is a small place and there is no room for in house dining there, and it's a tiny joint that reminds me of some of the wing places I'd frequented decades past in Buffalo... I went nuts and bought home 3 varieties of chicken... the original, the sticks of fire, And the teri-gold. Suffice to say, the teri gold was deliciously tasty... much more interesting and desirable than the original which I felt was rather bland actually. The sticks of fire were thankfully, NOT as hot as those found in kyochan, but an interesting blend of almost hot and sweet... I enjoyed it tremendously. While Kyochon is still my favorite, due to their hot wings being super hot and crispy, I really think BBQ offers a terrific alternative, if you're taking out. I've had it delivered several times to my home AND to my workplace... Yay BBQ chicken!! The menu has changed since the first time I went in to the manhattan location, and I really think for the better. Oh, yeah, I LOVE the pepper munchers... yumm yummm goood. 4 stars is nothing to sneer at, also, they offer good service and I love the items mentioned. Since I work close to Northern Blvd. in Flushing, my co-worker and I decided to try a bunch of different Korean fried chicken places for lunch this week. My parents sampled some too (it's a family company, ok?). Today we had BBQ, which has flavors like original, sweet spice, and teri gold. They currently have a Buy One Get One Free promotion going on 'til the end of the month, so we got each got a 6-pc of chicken nuggets (more like strips) and a 2-piece combo (combos come in original flavor only), which is one drumstick, one breast, a med. side and a biscuit. Total price was about $11. I also got a card that I can use starting September where they punch the card every time you buy more than $10 worth of stuff. And on your 5th purchase, you get 2 pcs grilled chicken for free, and on your 10th purchase, you get 4 pcs for free. The original flavor tastes a little like regular KFC, so I'm going to compare it as such. Breading: Also has corn flake-like breading, but no layer of fat hiding underneath (not on the drumstick, but yes on the breast). Seasoned with black pepper and not overly salty. Meat: Juicy and a little greasy, but didn't make you feel sick like with KFC or even Bon Chon, maybe because they use olive oil. Biscuit: Passable. Dry and hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. Still better than KFC's butterball. Fries: Waffle fries were crispy and spiced, like Arby's curly fries, but the way it was cut, it tastes more like spiced crisps than spiced potatoes, if that makes sense. Cole Slaw: My co-worker said it was finely chopped and so, tasted better than KFC's. Chicken Nuggets: Only look like nuggets in their flyer but were really chicken strips. Some parts, like the edges, were overcooked and dry, but it was ok, for the most part. You get two dipping sauces for your fries--a mustard one that was like, straight-up mustard (ick) and a BBQ one that reminds me awfully like the one at McDonald's, which is not a bad thing if you like that. Conclusion: This place is good for KFC flavor but with less fat and salt. But if you want fried chicken that just tastes great, I'd recommend Kyedong Chicken. (This only applies to the original flavor, since I haven't tried their other flavors.) read more
