Been wanting to try this place for a long time. I finally made a stopped in at BB.Q Chicken in Clarksville, and overall it was a solid experience. The place has a casual, welcoming vibe -- clean, well‐lit, with a layout that works for both dine‐in and takeout. What I liked: 1. The fried chicken was crispy and flavorful without being overly greasy. We got the Golden Original and Soy Garlic. The Golden Original has a kick to it but nice flavor. The Soy Garlic was a bit garlicky you can taste the powdered garlic. Nice balance of sweet, savory and salty. 2. The sides were fresh and well‐seasoned -- the pickled radish had a nice balance of tang and sweetness. 3. Staff were friendly and he was on his phone most of the time wasn't attentive at all. What could improve- the staff at the counter. There was a guy waiting on his food his food came out and was ready but the staff just stood there on his phone and didn't check. Good thing the guy was cool and didn't complain. Final thoughts If you're in the area and craving good fried chicken with a laid‐back feel, this is a solid pick. My husband and I used to frequent the bb.q chicken location in El Paso so when we moved to TN naturally it was one place we were missing greatly. We were happy to see there was one not too far from where we live, it is still a bit of a drive though. Hour and a half to be exact but we figured we really liked their food so it would be worth the drive. First off I will say that I do think these are franchises so each location is ran different. I've also been to a couple locations in Cali and those were very different from one another as well. Some of them are set up like a restaurant where you are sat at a table and served by a waiter. But others, like this one, are more in between being a restaurant and a fast food location. Here, you order your food, they give you a number and bring your food to your table when it is ready. I'll go with the bad first: My husband and I were super excited to get their cheesling fries. It was literally our favorite menu item when we were in TX. Unfortunately here they drench the fries with some kind of sauce that really ruined it for us. I don't know why they do it that way but I think the cheesling fries taste 100 times better without a sauce. Also, we ordered their kimchi fried rice because it's an item other locations don't offer so I wanted to try it. It's very oily. So off-putting for me. We ate a little of it but ended up not wanting to take the rest home. I highly do NOT recommend it. And if you order the cheesling fries then I strongly recommend you ask them NOT to cover it in sauce. As for the good: their chicken is like the standard bbq.q chicken that my husband and I are used to. HUGE pieces and very crunchy and moist! My favorite flavor is the honey garlic and my husband likes the cheesling. Definitely the highlight of our meal! The service was great too! The gentleman working the register was friendly. My husband thought it was strange that he was dressed in sweatpants, a sweatshirt and a beanie with Bear ears but I figure maybe this location doesn't really have a dress code. Although there was a gentleman working right next to him that was dressed professionally in a polo and slacks. But despite their dress code, the man was great with taking our order and bringing it to our table. Not really sure we'd make the hour and a half drive back to this location. I gave them 4 stars but honestly I think it's more like a 3.5 because those cheesling fries with the sauce really ruined my meal. I was looking forward to it so much and was just bummed the way they prepare it. Maybe they should update their menu to say it included a sauce on it because other locations don't make it like that and it's SO much better without. Woah the choices are beyond overwhelming! That was a mental overload and i was stumped on wht to order. I ended up getting Gangnam style Boneless chicken when i learned that the boneless chicken wasnt the processed yucky meatbut actual real chunks of boneless chicken thighs. And like any respectable person had to order a portion of bone in wings and chose the Spicy. I requested this as a To-Go order since they were closing at 9pm and i found out their hours are actually 11am to 9pm weekdays and 1am to 9:30pm Fri/Sat and you can actually order up to the last minute as the kitchen shuts down only at 9pm! As i was driving home through the tornado/thunderstorms i decided I had to at least try the chicken while it was hot and fresh. Holy cow ws it good! I especially loved the spicy crispy chicken even through the Gangnam sauce was flavorful, the spicy definitely was the winner in my books. Sweet and slight salty white cheddar powdered cheese flavor. Galbi tasted like honey bbq chips lol Hot mala was sweet and spicy. Not terribly hot. I would recommend all. They were good. I hope this place continues to be busy. Will definitely return next week lol. Update: Poor customer service I called and stated that the breading on an order of my wings weren't the same and was given nothing to rectify the situation until I had said something. The lady who took our order over the phone, was patience and made some great suggestions on how to make it work for our particular wing amounts and flavors . First time trying Korean fried chicken, and I have to say, I was not disappointed! We walked in and were immediately greeted by the staff. It was 1pm on a Friday, so there were only a few people in the restaurant already. It's not a huge place, but it seems well taken care of. Tables were all clean and chairs were pushed in. There's a big menu above where you order and smaller menus if you want to sit down and choose what you want before you go to the counter to order. They do have signs about allergies, which didn't apply to us, but was nice to know in case. Staff was friendly and gave us flavor recommendations. I'm currently pregnant and was not feeling anything super spicy, so we went with original, secret sauce, and honey garlic. We ordered everything to go and the guy who helped us said it would be about 20 minutes. They do have a sign saying how long the wait would be-- I'm sure it gets crazy later in the day, so it was cool that they keep it posted. The only bummer is you can only get one sauce flavor per order. So, even though we ordered 24 wings, we had to pay for 3 individual 8 packs-- our bill was $45 vs the $38 it says on the menu. Nonetheless, we took our chicken home and were pleasantly surprised by how hot and crunchy it still was. My favorite was the honey garlic. I could probably drink the sauce, but that might just be the baby talking. The original was worth trying, but it was too bland for me. If our daughter wanted chicken, I probably would have ordered this for her. My husband loved the secret sauce and said it was exactly like the chicken he had when he was stationed in Korea. I am aware sometimes we can get an OLD age chicken/hen that tastes weird. The good: the restaurant itself is nice and clean looking with a tv that shows constant kpop (if you are into that) albeit being dead inside, except for one couple, which was strange for a Saturday night. The bad & ugly: the chicken itself was a joke at best. There was absolutely NO seasoning on the original which made it taste like I was eating cardboard. The chicken itself was slightly dry but at least it had some pretty crispy skin. The hot and spicy flavor was awful. Again, no seasoning except for the taste of hot oil and peppers. KFC on a bad night still has some kind of seasoning right? The other thing that was bothersome was the fact that not all the pieces were coated in the lackluster sauce. Pieces should be tossed in sauce evenly so it covers every piece. As a Korean that lived in Korea for over a decade, this was thoroughly disappointing and underwhelming. It is just that this type of wing is not what Clarksville folks will want regularly. The chicken wings are huge and plentiful for the price. The flavors are unique and many will not know what they are really. That's why I don't think this will last. The cheese sticks are amazing; hot, cheesy, and large! The onion rings are beer battered and not panko, so they won't hurt your mouth. The chicken is crispy, yet wet and juicy at the same time. The honey garlic is slightly sweet and slightly spicy, a really great combination! The original is crispy and still moist. The service was good and the restaurant was very clean!
