Great food and ambience! Nice to see some different food outside of the standard fare.

Three things you need to know about this restaurant - First, the name is misleading; it is a Korean BBQ Chicken place, not "Southern" or KFC-like. Second, yes, it is a franchised chain. Third, it is REALLY good. A group of friends and I discovered this place when our planned lunch place was closed; this was nearby and we were are glad for the change. They have variations of whole chicken, boneless, and wings with a variety of sauces, either on the chicken or on the side. I had the original crispy boneless. It was super crispy with tender white-meat chicken. It came with pickled radish which was nicely pickled, but not hot. Among the other side dishes, the rice and fries were good and other people were very happy with the sweet potato fries and onion rings (I didn't taste these latter two). They also have a variety of rice bowls with rice and various additions (similar to bibimbap, but I don't think it is the same. The people next to me had the bulgogi and the kimchi. Both looked appetizing and my friends were quite pleased with their choices. They also have ddeokbokki, a rice based Korean street food, but nobody at our table tried that. The atmosphere is pleasant, but I expect it may get loud when the restaurant is full. The service was great. I should mention that we went there after the normal rush hour, but there were 14 of us. I would strongly recommend this place for a different flavor experience - one that you would want to come back for. read more

This place was a great surprise! It came up when I searched for Korean. It was rated high and was closed so I thought I'd give it a shot. I didn't realize when I came here that it was a sitdown restaurant, but it also has takeout. I couldn't decide between the Bulgogi rice bowl or the Gangnam Style chicken wings so I ordered both. So glad I did! While I couldn't eat it all. I'm looking forward to the leftovers. The food was fresh and tasty, hot and served quickly. Service was super friendly and polite. We used to like this place a lot but it's clear that there's not as strong of a management presence here now. There is one person working the entire front of house on a Saturday night, and it took a while for us to get served even though it wasn't too crowded. They just had a lot of tasks to complete. The kitchen employees are yelling, screaming, and singing along with loud music that is drowning out the restaurant music. The food was good, but my bulgogi poutine only came with a large spoon and the server never came back for me to ask for anything different. We also never got one of the items we ordered. The place is irght by Meijer and if I am not wrong, in the location that used to be the miracle sushi restaurant. The important thing to know is that they stop dine in by 8 pm but allow carry out till 9 pm. We saw them turn away a lot of people that wanted to dine in post 8 pm. Our waitress was quick to respond to every table that was seated - we ordered our apps and dinner and food came out quite speedy. We had the bulgogi rice bowl - meat to rice ratio could have been better - as in the meat was a bit less compared to the rice. The So Ddeok so Ddeok was a hit with the sauce as well as the combo of rice cake and hot dog. The fried dumpling was however okay. We came for the fried chicken and that was definitely something we all enjoyed. We ordered the half and half boneless with the original and secret sauce - the original is just okay but has great crunch as expected. The secret sauce was better, however not enough spice so we will try a spicier sauce next time. The pickled radish was so very delicious. I couldnt stop eating them. Oh baby. Come for the wings, stay for the kimchi fried rice. I'm already planning on coming back to bb.q Chicken just to get an order of the kimchi fried rice, which comes with a fried egg on top, yolk all golden and runny. (Side note: Can I just say that the name of this restaurant, or at least the haphazard capitalization and rogue punctuation in the middle of the name, hurts my soul? I'm going to have to type "bb.q Chicken" a few more times to finish this review, and each time, just know that I will die inside just a little bit more.) There were six people in our party, so we got a few things and tasted around. The chicken fried rice was good, but very mild, and compared to the kimchi rice, was a little bland, but it was perfect for kids. Speaking of kids, we also got them an order of fries, which they ate with the Golden Original boneless wings, which are pretty much the equivalent of large chicken tenders. The Golden Original are the only wings that do not come with sauce. We were not offered sauce on the side. If you want sauced wings, you need to order wings with sauce on them, and they all come sauced except for Golden Original. bb.q Chicken gets nasty with the sauce, for sure. Their wings are saucy and sticky, but not soggy. You can still taste the crunch of the breading on the chicken. My favorite wings were the honey garlic, but we also got some of the Secret Sauce wings, which had gochujang on them but something else we couldn't place. Was it cinnamon? Chinese five spice? I tried asking our server what that taste was, but she kept being cagey and insisted it was a secret recipe. Oh well! I think it might be persimmon, and perhaps also cinnamon. In any case, the Secret Sauce wings are mighty tasty. The service at bb.q Chicken was great, and our server was happy to help us decide when we were going back and forth between a couple of items. I am honestly not a huge wings fan, but I would come back to bb.q Chicken to try some of their other wing flavors (there are at least 13 that I counted!). read more

We gave this chain a try, but it's a one-and-done for us. Two in our party ordered the chicken fried rice and found the seasoning to have an odd, almost funky flavor. It wasn't to our taste, though others might enjoy it. A third person ordered a dish I cannot remember and couldn't find on the online menu, and unfortunately, she wasn't a fan either. The highlight of the meal was the size of the boneless wings--our fourth guest was impressed by how large they were. That said, he was disappointed they couldn't be split between two sauces. I was looking for some good Korean chicken and this place popped up on yelp! I ordered their size which had 18 pieces for me and several people at work. The chicken was crunchy and oh so delicious and also had many choices of sauces. I tried the regular spicy and no sauce and both were really good although I have to say that even their no sauce had a little bit of a kick. Visited this new Carmel location on opening day, and it did not disappoint! We had the Spicy Original Wings, Rose Ddeok-Bokki, and the Chicken Fried Rice. Everything was made very quickly and was very flavorful. Interestingly, we felt the Spicy Original Wings were slightly less spicy when compared to the Castleton location, but they were just as crispy and delicious. The location has a ton of seating and a really great feel. Seems like it would be perfect for watching a game as well. The service was really good and attentive. They offer 14 flavors of wings and 3 flavors of whole chickens. Their rice bowls: kimchi, chicken fried, buidak and bulgogi are well prepared and tasty. The place was spotless. Everyone in there was so nice and attentive. That's why it's a two star not a one star. The onion rings were the best thing by far, but it was later in the day and it just tasted like the grease needed to be changed or whatever the cooking mechanism is. We got two of the boneless chicken, one garlic soy and the other spicy galbi. The flavor was a 10 on both. The crunch was a 10 on both but the actual chicken itself was disturbing. I don't know another word to describe when you bite into something and it's not the right texture. My fiancé had bites where the chicken was slimy inside and every bite for me was separated from the breading and it was so off to the point where I looked at it, and I used to be vegan and it looked like vegan meat. It didn't taste like tofu, but it didn't really taste like anything. And I absolutely love Korean fried chicken. I think my Korean people do it the best at this location has a lot of work to do. And it's sad going into a restaurant at 5 o'clock or at least a few minutes before 5 o'clock and it being completely empty and Carmel, very concerning. I genuinely hope you guys are able to add some fresh ingredients and take the proper measures to make sure that the quality of your chicken is of the utmost importance. At the end of the day most people are going there for the chicken now I didn't have the bone in chicken so I can't give you my opinion on that, but I've had a lot of boneless chicken and I'd rather stay away from this place altogether. I didn't want to end off with the mozzarella sticks. It was very odd. Some were a little warm and others were extremely hot with grease spilling out of it and burning your lip. We ate the food in the car so it wasn't like we waited. It seemed like the mozzarella sticks were done in multiple batches for some reason. The taste was good, but some of the mozzarella sticks didn't even have cheese in them. Overall, it was very disappointing and quite expensive at $51 but at the end of the day you guys have the right flavor and the right batter it's just about the chicken that you guys use or whatever it is. I'm so excited because my favorite Korean fried chicken place is CM fried chicken and specifically the broad ripple location. They have amazing flavors, but I will say your flavors are very good. If not, I would say even better. I've had every flavor from the broad ripple location, and y'all got them beat on flavor. I wish I would've taken pictures of it but every bite I was looking at my fiancé like is this even cooked all the way. It just was so soft and it was truly uncomfortable eating it. But I was like there's no way they would give us uncooked chicken and then I looked at the chicken it just didn't look right. It kinda looked like chicken meal, but some of the parts had like the normal stream of chicken. Again, please fix your chicken at least the boneless chicken or if somebody working there sees this please check to make sure it's not hasn't gone bad. Been here twice now. Both times chicken was crispy and very flavorful. So far I have had the spicy galbi, secret sauce, and Gangnam-style. All in boneless variety. Of these the Gangnam Style is probably my favorite; It's pepper and garlic, two things I love together! Service was good. The servicer said he was new, but he did a good job nevertheless.
