Chocolate lava cake with chocolate ice cream
David Y.

Unexpected delights! My wife and I had actually never heard of BB Cafe when we stepped in, but leave it wanting to come back for more. We got: - Turkish coffee: Strong and awesome, like it always is. And the side biscuit they provided was really tasty. - Chocolate lava cake with chocolate icecream: Gooey, heavy, so so chocolatey. A tad underbaked but any chocoholic would still love it. - Shirini napoleoni with cream: A must-try. The filo pastry was flaky but still very tasty, the cream was generous and just the right level of sweetness. It's a bit pricey though for the size. - Persian cookies: Lots of choices - and they are super generous with giving you stuff to taste test. (Think they gave us 5 or 6 cookies as a free taste!) The place itself is nice and spacious, with a second floor that's quiet (can easily imagine hanging out the whole afternoon). And the service is exceptional - like I mentioned, they're very generous in giving you freebies to try, plus they're also quick with the overall service once you order. Overall a great experience. Will definitely be back to try their other goodies.

Oh the many adventures your taste buds will take you here at BB Cafe! Rose water, pomegranate, saffron, cardamom...truly a party for your senses. Being my usual curious self I started asking about all the desserts. Tried their traditional desserts: Faloodah and Zoolbia but when we arrived at the cookie section the lovely staff member handed me a plate of assorted cookie samples to try, what a sweetheart! Hubby and I decided on a scoop of Saffron ice cream with a hint of rose water, a scoop of pomegranate ice cream and a pot of Persian tea (enough for two cups) to eat in, and a single serve Napoleon with pistachios and a mini chocolate mousse cake to go. Persian desserts are NOT meant to be gobbled up haphazardly. Enjoy the experience of the moment and appreciate the ability of your tongue to distinguish all the different textures, spices and flavors used to craft their delicacies. Some reviewers complained that the desserts are too sweet but you need to know the trick to enjoying their exotic offerings. You take a small bite then follow it up with a sip of their delicious Persian tea, no need to sweeten your tea with additional sugar AHA! Their desserts are a perfect accompaniment to their tea. The best time to come is during non peak times so that you'll have the undivided attention of the staff. There are no labels on the desserts so if you're unfamiliar with Persian desserts you'll just have to ask. Fortunately the staff are more than willing to answer any questions and offer multiple samples for you to try. They have second floor seating good for big groups which also has a balcony. They have plans to expand their dessert and drink menu to include food items like their other location.

BB Cafe is one of the numerous Persian cafe in the area, but it is definitely one of the best one for set up. Airy, clean and with comfortable seating if you do decide to stay in for a cup of tea. A pot of tea ($2.49) on kept warm by a tea candle and a piece of Neapolitan custard cake ($3.99) is perfect combination for a leisure afternoon tea experience! There are numerous other pastries on display which I wish they have descriptions and prices on them. Especially good for customers like me that are not really sure which is which! If you are not into pastry, there is also Saffron ice cream and Faloodeh to choose from or you can even order both of them just like my friend did! Service is excellent and friendly. Just order at the counter and have a seat and your yummy dessert would be delivered to your table!

Had a piece of cheesecake and Americano from BB Cafe. Maybe I had really high expectations? By Yonge and Steeles, it's in a strip mall with a number of other Iranian joints, including a halal butcher shop and currency exchange. There's a parking lot on site so you don't have to worry about where to leave your car. With public transportation, it seems a little inconvenient to get to. Service was excellent; once we were finished, the staff asked us how we enjoyed our desserts. Back to the desserts; I found the cheesecake to be quite dry and a little expensive for what I got. The total came up to just under $10 with the cheesecake being $6. Anyway, this place is a-ok; they have a number of desserts (including Iranian treats) along with ice cream and nuts. Good for: dessert, tea, coffee

Very cheap owner every time we order carrots juice with ice cream which is our favourite the juicer is broken again and this issue is going on for almost 3 years, large cream puff for 6 dollars wow great pricing the cost of that is 0.35 cents and we get charged for 17 times more and thats how they coming up with new location. I bought a small container of fallodeh anar and look what i saw now big portion of container is gone for new way of stealing from customers. Watch out

No labels here so, I call this the "circular choco brownie topped with coconut flakes" (dense AF and totally satisfies my cravings)

My FAVOURITE bakery of all time. Top of my 2018 list. The mini swiss roll cakes are the best. Each bite sends me over the moon with joy. I've never, in my life, had such good cake: soft, fluffy, delectably delicious. These cakes restore my passion for life, renew my zest to carpe diem. Notable mentions: puff pastry, circular choco brownie topped with coconut flakes (dense AF and totally satisfies my cravings), chocolate wafers (this is THE shit, eff KitKat) Yet to try: Ice Cream & Gelato (I've read such good things on Yelp) Bonus: this is actually a super cute super secret date place. Chyeahhhh. Check out that second floor ;) Ask for the Turkish tea and choose a pastry!

I got some cookies in a small box(sale by weight, my total was $11.06). Cookies were quite soft. My favorite were a coffee cookie; It was very flavourful, and crispy pies.

I ordered Turkish coffee and a cake roll. Cake tasted a day old and as for the coffee, I've had better so I was expecting better.

The food was dry and stale and contaminated with nuts. As a result, I had an allergy reaction. The women's bathroom was out of service.

Having eleven guest we found the table seating very cramped still to the point that guest were elbowing each other, it would have been nice if the restuarant had another table allocated for us just for more space. I ordered the Dizi (Abgoosht). It came with a soup that was a bit greasy, yogurt, pickled sides and a stewed lamb. It was well cooked but I wish the food was seasoned a bit less. Some of the kabob ordered by another guest made of ground beef was an oversalted hamburger meat in shape of kabob...it was not impressive. With our large party I thought it would be interesting to comment the restaurant automatically applied 15% tip. I would give this another try but perhaps not as a big party. It's also interesting to note none of the servers were not Persian. Salamati!

Tip#1: Add a bit (or a lot!) of Sumac seasoning (dark red powder in the shaker bottle) onto your kebob meat. It has an almost sour fruity taste which really balances out and adds an unique edge to the meaty kabobs. Tip#2: You'll get small packets of butter that you're supposed to mix & melt into your rice. //APPETIZERS// We tried their Maast-e Saadeh (yogurt dip) with Persian flatbread, Zeitoon Parvardeh (olives), and the Kal Kabob (eggplant with ground walnut & pomergranate) which was my favourite and quite sour. //ENTREES// I tried the Kubideh and Jujeh (Chicken Breast) Kabob, which were both delicious and juicy. The Kabob-e-Torsh veal sirloin meat was too tough, while the the pomegranate walnut molasses was interesting to try, know that it's quite sour too! I also substituted the rice for the salad which was too overdressed with vinaigrette. //DESSERT// My ABSOLUTE favourite thing we had was the Saffron Rosewater Ice Cream. It's beautifully plated and has the perfect balance of creamy, floral, and sweet flavours with crunchy pistachio & pomergranate seeds. I would come back to Sheherzade literally just to have that amazing Saffron Rosewater Ice Cream again & again!

We peeked inside. It was busy and with quite a few Persians. We decided to try it. I am so glad that we tried it. Everything that we ordered was outstanding. While we were enjoying the food, he walked up and greeted. He explained how we could use the trio sampler to enjoy the entrees which really made it even better. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Food: We had our office holiday dinner here and 15 people attended. We did a set menu which had 3 courses. The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures
