I've always thought the Breakfast Club in West City has the best breakfast in the area. As suburbs go, you can't beat it. The chocolate shop has some incredible treats. Everything is fresh and packed to order. I've had chocolate all over Europe but this chocolate shop is by far my favorite. Will definitely come back!

Biscuits and gravy topped with eggs. And potatoes. Green pepper, onion, bacon and cheese omelette.

So enjoyed our breakfast this am at Bayside Restaurant. Very tasty. My southern raised husband said "I don't know what is in these but they are better than any biscuits and gravy that I was raised on" My omelette was delicious, wonderful very fresh ! Great tasting bacon and cheese. Hash browns done just right. Coffee was good ! And they had gluten free toast I appreciated that because it isn't offered everywhere. Very kind staff. And very clean restaurant! We will be back for sure.

Driving down the road while traveling, we happened upon this place at 8am on a Sunday morning. It is fresh and clean when you walk in. The wait staff is friendly and were welcoming. I ordered the veggie hash and wow. 5-star!! Highly recommend!

Quinoa, almond milk, maple syrup, brown sugar, cherries, pecans and almonds.

The atmosphere, food and staff are lovely! I had the quinoa for breakfast and it was delish!

Veggie fritatta with smoked white fish added and side of fruit.

My boyfriend and I came here twice this week and we were very satisfied with our breakfast both times! The smoked white fish tasted amazing in both the build your own omelet and the veggie fritatta. We got our whole grains in too when we ordered the cups of oats and quinoa, which were very delicious by the way! They came with a side of almond milk and maple syrup in the most adorable little Mason jars you'll ever see

I had done a bit of research the day before .. looking for restaurants in the area. When I noticed that the Side Door had Prime Rib on special, (Wed-Sat) the decision was made. DISCLAIMER: I had eaten at the Side Door a few years ago (Cilantro Lime Shrimp W/Pasta) Me and my neighbor arrived at about 4:45PM, and were greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately ... we were kinda early for the dinner rush so there was plenty of available seating. (NOTE: When we departed about an hour after we arrived, the place was FULL and a line was forming for a table.) We both ordered the 14oz Black Angus Prime Rib (10oz also available). About the same time that we finished the first beer, dinner was served! Simply one of ... if not Thee best, PR that I have had in several years, across 11 states. My neighbor agreed. Both of us now try to plan our Petoskey trips to coincide with dinner at the Door My ONLY complaint is that the horseradish was weak. Actually, it seemed that it had been washed into submission .. totally without any flavor or "bite". The rest of the meal made up for it. (But I *will* bring some nose-incinerating, sinus-creating horseradish from home on the next planned trip.) Service: Superb. We never had to ask for anything. Drinks were refilled with perfect timing. And always smiling. She is an asset to the establishment. Driving Suggestion: Depending on the season and the time of day, if arriving from the North, it can be nearly impossible to make the left turn into the Side Door. Suggestion: Turn Right into the strip mall (KFC, AT&T, etc) and use the traffic light near the gas station to turn left, back onto the highway then a right into the Side Door Saloon for some of the best dining in the Petoskey area. Ample Parking is available. YMMV

Well I couldn't get a reservation in the fall so my girlfriend and I tried again while taking a ski trip to Boyne Mountain . Yes, The location and ambiance is fabulous . We were graciously greeted and sat at table # 1 right by the windows looking out to the frozen lake truly a great table. Our waitress Janice a local greeted us and was very nice. Janice did a great job going through the menu which I will added the prices were very fare . The wine and cocktail list were also impressive with a wide offering in price and choice. We decided on a Malbec to start. Then they brought out a the welcoming taste of salmon pate on a cucumber which we both found to be very tasty . After reviewing the menu we chose to bypass an appetizer for fear of just getting too much food and not finishing our dinner . After I told my girlfriend how good whitefish is in Michigan we both ordered that instead of the salmon or short ribs that also looked enticing. . Before our entree was served we had the warm bread and garlic butter that was terrific and tempting to eat the whole basket . Our dinners were served very quickly even though the restaurant was sold out . As we took the first bites of the white fish I was extremely disappointed . The breading had absolutely zero seasoning or flavor . The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly but the breading was completely flavorless taking away from the fish. Neither of us finished the dish and my girlfriend tried adding salt just to get some flavor but it didn't make it any better . I was going to order dessert but we were so disappointed after our dinner we chose to bypass dessert . . I did order a coffee since they didn't have cappuccino. I will say the coffee was very good , but what good restaurant doesn't have a cappuccino machine . As a side note the bathroom very nicely decorated in old wine box shingles on the wall and was very clean . I gave 3 stars simply because the Walloon Inn has been around so long and highly acclaimed as one of the better restaurants in the area. This was very disappointing . I may come back with my business partner and hope my experience will be better . Until next time .

The end. Now the bad news. Everything else. We are veterans restaurant/bar/cocktail lounge/ brewery patrons, so should've tuned into the fact that the place was empty at 7:30 even on a Tuesday night. My wife wanted a Chardonnay but was unfamiliar with one of them and asked for a taste. Seriously? What bartender sends a taste of wine in a shot glass with literally a quarter of that shot glass holding a "taste?" My wife had no idea what this wine was supposed to taste like so ordered a glass of Decoy, which was decent but quite overpriced. I ordered a Bellaire Brown out of the can which was cold & non-ruinable, thank God! We ordered a pizza with pepperoni, which used to be quite good here. Not anymore. As hard as it was to believe, in 8 slices there were NINE pieces of pepperoni. Total. We wondered if the kitchen was instructed to only use one piece per slice & maybe an extra one got slipped in by mistake. The pizza was undercooked, crust was tasteless, cheese bland, and sauce was not close to Italian. Maybe Contadina with a little oregano thrown into it. If you're a fan of Red Baron or other frozen pizza, stick to that because it's better. The best part of the pizza was the red pepper flakes we buried it with. I don't know if the new owners are cheap, unaware of why this place was once popular and populated, but we shan't be back soon. And from other recent reviews and the lack of crowd were not the only ones. Sad.
