oh my goodness! This place is a secret that gets found once you have rented a kayak at the Kayak Shack which is located is the same parking lot. This restaurant offers strange hours in that it changes from breakfast to lunch and it's closed for a half an hour between breakfast to lunch. I don't know why. But it does. And then it is open from lunch to dinner and then it closes for a half an hour between lunch and dinner. Again, I don't know why, but it does. But the food is really really good. They have a green chili soup that you can also have mixed with the clam chowder. Absolutely delicious. The fish and chips are probably my favorite of any other place. They're very light and the fish is absolutely fresh. I've enjoyed the salads that are offered. I've had some omelettes in the past that were absolutely scrumptious. All in all, a variety of dishes, await you when you come here. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Pets are allowed civil as long as they are civilized and well behaved. The bathroom is kind of a tricky situation. It is outside the building and down the parking lot. It's almost like a camping ground restroom. Oh, and the weight staff is very friendly. Five stars for location in the State Park by the marina. Beautiful views! I'll also give a 5 star rating for excellent service. I'm giving 4 stars for the food. My husband's dinner was a perfect 5. My Coquille St. Jacques was very disappointing. Maybe my expectations were too high for this type of restaurant. It was like something I could buy frozen from Costco and reheat at home rather than freshly made. I think I expected too much from the restaurant. I will say that the seafood was fresh, but the food had zero flavor! Thank goodness for table salt and pepper. The service was not slow but it was also not phenomenal. I would say the service was simply there. The ambiance is what makes this place a desirable place to go. Beautiful relaxing setting, but PLEASE take note, the washroom(bathroom) is outside the restaurant at a near place by the dock area. So it is not that easy for someone in a wheelchair, as they would have to leave the restaurant and go outside by the parking lots for the bathroom. I came here because I was taking a long drive and the food was GREAT I had the nachos and they were delicious packed with olives , beans, guacamole and some cheese and sour cream and the atmosphere is amazing and the staff was so friendly but bring your appetite because if you order the nachos or fish tacos there HUGE and I love this restaurant and would come back anytime. read more

We've been coming to Bayside for quite awhile and have always had great food, especially the fish and chips. The tartar sauce is so good, not your typical tartar sauce. The service is always good here, friendly, and efficient. But last night we had exceptional service, Hamilton, amazing server, he made our night even better. Such a friendly, outgoing personality, always checking in to see if we needed anything. I have a pet peeve about customer service and Hamilton went above and beyond. I've certainly been to worse places. Bayside Cafe is kinda like Los Angeles where it has a little bit of everything but the best of nothing. The staff was kind and helpful and on it during a busy Saturday evening rush so that earns them the 4th star. The food however is basic. This neighborhood spot is very popular and generally a wait for lunch, they close at 3pm. Parking is plentiful, dogs are permitted. Seating is available inside and outside, the two of us waited about 15 minutes. Once seated we were greeted by Gary, he took our drink order and asked if we had any questions about the menu. We started with a bowl of clam chowder to share, very good. I've tried the CC in most places around town and this one is the best. Not too thick and plenty of tender clams. Potatoes were cut small and diced celery was the only other veggie I saw, great and not over powering flavor. M went with the seared Ahi starter plate and that was enough for her. There was a price appropriate amount of Ahi with a few bites of garnish salad, she said it was perfect. I ventured in with a Tri-Tip beef sub, quite good, tender and again a good portion for the price. Flavor was good even with the bbq sauce cover, fries were a bit skimpy and warn not hot. Oh how I wish I lived closer! California Chowder - a combo of clam chowder & green chili soup - so good. The shrimp Louie salad was excellent! Table next to us ordered dessert which looked wonderful but we were hiking & couldn't keep them cold long enough to take them to go. Next time we'll bring the car & take dessert to go (Because I'm still going to eat all the yummy offerings for lunch)! Server was very friendly & did a great job. Came for lunch after kayaking and got a patio table right before the crowd so we were lucky! Service was friendly and prompt, and the server kindly split our check. The cheeseburger was the best of our meals--tasty and perfectly cooked. The fries were plentiful and crispy! The turkey avocado sandwich was good, but the bread wasn't toasted--boo! Hidden away from downtown Morro Bay, is this lone cafe that is well known and loved by locals. Located on the shores of the bay, it offers both indoor and outdoor patio seating. There's plenty of parking spaces. They do have limited business hours so check their website to make sure they're open. I had their famous California Style clam chowder, which has now become my all time favorite chowder. Their regular clam chowder is terrific, but once they mix in their Chile Verde soup, it adds extra flavor and kick to make it even better. Love it. The sourdough bread bowl was very soft; I prefer the hard exterior crust with soft interior, but it all still tasted terrific. For my main course, I had one of their daily specials: Cod Tacos (see photo). 2 tacos with generous portions of grilled Cod, lettuce/cabbage, salsa (served on the side), and more, piled up on 2 corn tortillas (to help hold it all together better). It takes a bit of finagling to actually pick up and hold it with your hands! Nevertheless, very fresh and very tasty. Lastly, I topped off my meal with key lime pie for dessert, which was also terrific. Creamy, tart, and a crispy crust. For super casual dining by the bay, with friendly and fast service, Bayside Cafe is an excellent dining experience. Our lovely waitress Vera was helpful with her relevant recommendation. Combined with her genuine smile and light-hearted sense of humor, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We also met the humble Gil. He quietly took our drinks order, but through chit chatting found out his family owns the business. Such a nice man. Loved the view from our outside table, the marina, and although midday was chilly, the patio heaters kept us comfortable. We waited less than 5 minutes and got a table inside. This restaurant has great views of the water. I ordered the fish and chips. Also, had some onion rings and shared a bread bowl clam chowder. The sourdough bread bowl was really good. It was super soft. The clam chowder was good, but like much of the meal lacked seasoning. It is super thin. I prefer my clam chowder a little thicker, but it wasn't bad.My fish looked great. Big pieces of fish, that were lightly battered. The fish taste fresh. But once again lacked seasoning. We got burgers which were pretty good, but the dessert was really bad, the chocolate cream pie we got had this weird texture and tasted like old chocolate jello, and the carrot cake was a mix of ice cold and hot. The service was nice though. read more

This was an ok place to visit. I don't know if our experience was not good because of our server but our whole experience was mediocre. Parking: There was a decent amount of parking available for this restaurant. Wait Time: We already had 2 people from our party get there early to get a table and once we got there we were seated almost immediately. Just a reminder, they do get busy, so if you want a table inside you're going to have to wait awhile or get there right when they open. We sat on the outdoor patio which had an outdoor heater which was very useful since it got chilly late in the afternoon. Our first server who took our drinks was very nice and good at what he does. We got our water and drinks promptly. The drink server was really good as we tried different wines to see which one we wanted for the table. He was very patient with us which I was really happy with. Ordering our meal with our server: So like I mentioned, the person who got us our drinks was different and honestly I wished we had him as our server. Our server who got our food order was good in the beginning and once we got our food he never really went back to our table to check on us. We were flagging down other servers to get us drink refills and other things we needed for our meals. I took one star off because of this. We tried multiple times to get his attention and he just would not pay attention to us at all. Food: Sauteed Mushroom: Really really good and very tasty. Highly recommend this appetizer. Clam Chowder: This is already a meal on its own, especially if you order it in the sourdough bowl. I just order the small bowl which filled me up. Spicy Green Chile Soup: Wasn't really spicy, and one of my aunt's friends was hyping this dish up and honestly it was okay. There was nothing special about it. Fish & Chips: This was good. No complaints. Just like any other fish & chips I've had. Charbroiled Pacific King Salmon: Very bland. No seasoning whatsoever. This was the meal that my aunt kept on trying to flag down our server for so we can get some seasoning for it but he just wasn't paying attention to us. Another server had to give us the seasoning we had asked for. All in all, this was an okay experience. In this area, this was one of the only options for a restaurant so we really did not have much choice. I'll try it again if I'm in the area just because there are no other choices nearby. Hands down, this is mine and Linkin's favorite place to grab fresh fish and chips! The staff are super friendly and they go out of their way to make sure your meal is perfect. The seafood medley is another great dish. If you're super hungry, try the nachos, there's more than enough for two. The cafe is butted up against the state park and the harbor the views are amazing. We love it the most because they welcome your pets. My besty "Linkin" is greeted by everyone. There is usually a small wait, but that is passed easily enough by watching all the wildlife at the harbor. The Bayside Cafe has a small break between lunch and dinner service from 3-4pm. We usually go for an early dinner so we can walk-off the mud pie ice cream dessert that is divine. The berry crisp is also another favorite of ours. See you there soon! Overall A+ read more

We tried to come for an early coffee on our first day staying nearby but it's a bummer they don't open until 11am. So instead we came for brunch the next day. Surprised to find a line just before opening. And shortly after opening, even table on the patio was filled. Definately a hot spot for brunch, seems like even the locals go here. It does have beautiful views and good food and i think free wide open parking. The restrooms were a bit gross. But the service was nice and the prices were typical for what I'm used to in LA. There are no breakfast foods, but I did get cod tacos for $16 and 5 star clam chowder for $10. I recommend both, honestly the portions feed two people. If we stay at this campsite again, we will definitively be back! read more
