The worst service!!!!! we run a business and thought it would be nice to go there for lunch, and handle some business-I was told I was not allowed to answer calls or talk on my phone because the conversation would disrupt other " regulars" even though the conversations around us were way louder - she even suggested like to go outside and remove myself from the restaurant to conduct business. However some disruptive little child, acting a fool was ok. The food is less than desirable overpriced, not seasoned and the manager is a joke. read more

This place was a little hard to find using gps, but eventually found it. You have to pass the golf course and go into the state park. There is ample parking. When we arrived it was packed. We waited less than 5 minutes and got a table inside. This restaurant has great views of the water. I ordered the fish and chips. Also, had some onion rings and shared a bread bowl clam chowder. The sourdough bread bowl was really good. It was super soft. The clam chowder was good, but like much of the meal lacked seasoning. It is super thin. I prefer my clam chowder a little thicker, but it wasn't bad.My fish looked great. Big pieces of fish, that were lightly battered. The fish taste fresh. But once again lacked seasoning. There was no taste at all. It was also super greasy. The fries were doubled fried, no seasonings, and lukewarm maybe. Overall, if everything was seasoned, it would be really good. read more

Here we go again tried dinner last Saturday night and my daughter and I had dinner started out with the sautéed mushrooms and wasn't thrilled they were bland and blah, she ordered crab cakes and hey had way to much cumin in the mix and the sauce they serve with it, was way to spicy for crab cakes . I ordered the burger it was just okay the meat was tough and I wish they would use bison and cooked to order because it was to tough! So any way the view is spectacular! This was an ok place to visit. I don't know if our experience was not good because of our server but our whole experience was mediocre. Parking: There was a decent amount of parking available for this restaurant. Wait Time: We already had 2 people from our party get there early to get a table and once we got there we were seated almost immediately. Just a reminder, they do get busy, so if you want a table inside you're going to have to wait awhile or get there right when they open. We sat on the outdoor patio which had an outdoor heater which was very useful since it got chilly late in the afternoon. Our first server who took our drinks was very nice and good at what he does. We got our water and drinks promptly. The drink server was really good as we tried different wines to see which one we wanted for the table. He was very patient with us which I was really happy with. Ordering our meal with our server: So like I mentioned, the person who got us our drinks was different and honestly I wished we had him as our server. Our server who got our food order was good in the beginning and once we got our food he never really went back to our table to check on us. We were flagging down other servers to get us drink refills and other things we needed for our meals. I took one star off because of this. We tried multiple times to get his attention and he just would not pay attention to us at all. Food: Sauteed Mushroom: Really really good and very tasty. Highly recommend this appetizer. Clam Chowder: This is already a meal on its own, especially if you order it in the sourdough bowl. I just order the small bowl which filled me up. Spicy Green Chile Soup: Wasn't really spicy, and one of my aunt's friends was hyping this dish up and honestly it was okay. There was nothing special about it. Fish & Chips: This was good. No complaints. Just like any other fish & chips I've had. Charbroiled Pacific King Salmon: Very bland. No seasoning whatsoever. This was the meal that my aunt kept on trying to flag down our server for so we can get some seasoning for it but he just wasn't paying attention to us. Another server had to give us the seasoning we had asked for. All in all, this was an okay experience. In this area, this was one of the only options for a restaurant so we really did not have much choice. I'll try it again if I'm in the area just because there are no other choices nearby. The view from inside the restaurant was okay as well. You definitely have a view of the water which you can also hike up behind the restaurant. read more

Excellent food as always. Our waiter, who looks just like the ginger from Ratatouille, was so sweet to me and my grandparents. My grandpa who is a thousand years old ordered clam strips, he has hardly any teeth left and when they came out he couldn't even bite one in half, our waiter replaced them with some fish and even bothered to listen my grandpas complaining for a minute or two. Hands down, this is mine and Linkin's favorite place to grab fresh fish and chips! The staff are super friendly and they go out of their way to make sure your meal is perfect. The seafood medley is another great dish. If you're super hungry, try the nachos, there's more than enough for two. The cafe is butted up against the state park and the harbor the views are amazing. We love it the most because they welcome your pets. My besty "Linkin" is greeted by everyone. There is usually a small wait, but that is passed easily enough by watching all the wildlife at the harbor. The Bayside Cafe has a small break between lunch and dinner service from 3-4pm. We usually go for an early dinner so we can walk-off the mud pie ice cream dessert that is divine. The berry crisp is also another favorite of ours. See you there soon! Overall A+ read more

We tried to come for an early coffee on our first day staying nearby but it's a bummer they don't open until 11am. So instead we came for brunch the next day. Surprised to find a line just before opening. And shortly after opening, even table on the patio was filled. Definately a hot spot for brunch, seems like even the locals go here. It does have beautiful views and good food and i think free wide open parking. The restrooms were a bit gross. But the service was nice and the prices were typical for what I'm used to in LA. There are no breakfast foods, but I did get cod tacos for $16 and 5 star clam chowder for $10. I recommend both, honestly the portions feed two people. If we stay at this campsite again, we will definitively be back! read more

There was a wait though at 630 on Saturday evening but it moved and they still sat people coming in at 745 though there was no wait. The place is very friendly and inviting. Food is fresh - clam chowder was flavorful with clams in every spoonful! The Nachos is a nice plate and just the way we like it with not a lot of fatty cheese but lots of beans and fresh tomatoes and guacamole. The seafood pasta full of seafood- shrimp scallops, salmon and a whitefish in a nice creamy sauce. And I had the scallops and mushrooms on a puff pastry and it came with fresh asparagus and broccoli and rice! Very nice dinner. read more

Nice little find while camping across the street, just wish they had better hours. Opens after breakfast and closes right after lunch. If I could give this place a 4.5, I would! I was visiting Morro Bay with a friend and we chose to stop by this place because we were both craving some fish and chips and thought the price point seemed reasonable! When we got here, we were seated immediately and chose to sit indoors because of the wind outside. The view of the harbor was amazing and the lighting was so perfect (maybe because of the beautiful weather outside). We got one order of fish and chips and one order of calamari strips and chips, but subbed the chips for a cup of normal clam chowder. The food came out SO fast and was piping hot. We really enjoyed everything we tried! The clam chowder was so addicting but on the less thick side compared to others I've tried. The calamari strips were not overcooked and not overly greasy. The flavor wasn't quite what I was expecting though and for the price, wasn't as filling as I hoped it would be. The fish came in massive pieces and had a nice amount of breading, but kind of lacked flavor. I definitely needed to add salt and in addition, it was on the greasy side. The grease soaked into the fries but otherwise it was good and satisfied my fish n chips craving. After the savory food, I ordered a slice of mud pie for dessert. This was amazing and the portion size was massive. I would totally come back to try the other desserts as well since they all looked enticing when other people ordered them. The staff here were so kind, friendly, and attentive! I felt so welcomed and comfortable and they made the dining experience so worth it. We got into Los Osos pretty late (at least by Los Osos standards) and needed to order something quick before everything closed. We decided to do Bayside Cafe as it was close by and had a wide range of food options for our semi large group takeout order. This place is right next to campgrounds for Morro Bay state park and is maybe one of the best restaurants available to a campground that I have been to. If you are camping in that area you should feel lucky that this place is available to you. Lots of seafood options but also some good healthy (or at least healthier options). One thing that I was flabbergasted by was the California Chowder. This is a clam chowder dish that has green chile mixed in with it. Truly something I have never seen before and it was actually really good. Probably the most clams I have seen in a clam chowder as well. It was packed. I ordered the fish and chips which were good but nothing special. They have some interesting herbed batter on them but it didn't really add any flavor that I could detect. The best thing I had was actually a bite of my wife's order which was the Fried Brie Salad. You are getting a sizable chunk of cheese in that salad and it was fried beautifully. The whole salad tasted really good with the fried cheese bites. We did a takeout order of about 8 people with multiple items per person and the Bayside Cafe took care of it fast. When we picked up the order they made sure we had all the right sauces and condiments we needed. Very attentive. This was a great spot especially near campgrounds. read more

We went here on a Wednesday at 12:30. There was parking within walking distance but if someone has issues with walking, dropping them off is probably recommended. This restaurant is located by the dock and across the street from the campground. The wait was 45 minutes so getting there early is recommended. There is seating indoors overlooking the water and outside on the patio. After being seated, we were immediately greeted and didn't wait long to order. Our food took about a half hour to arrive. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which was watery. The bun overwhelmed the dish so I ate it open faced. I have eaten here in the past and have enjoyed it. I'm not sure if they were having an off day so I'll be back hoping it will be better. read more

I ate here twice during a 4 day stay in the nearby Morro Bay State Park Campground. Both times the service was good, quick, and friendly. I ordered the vegan burger and fries on my first visit (delicious!), and the veggie fajitas the second visit. The veggies were cooked in an asian sauce, but served Mexican style with rice and beans, which was kind of a weird flavor combo. Wouldn't get the fajitas again so long as they come with that asian sauce on the veggies. Otherwise, pleased with this cute spot in a gorgeous setting, and would definitely return. read more

My AirBnB host recommended the Bayside Cafe when I asked for a a recommendation for a restaurant with good seafood that's popular with locals. The atmosphere is unassuming and on the casual side. They had a decent selection of wine by the glass and bottle. I enjoyed a glass of the rose and cabernet sauvignon with my meal. Food wise, I started with the Cafe salad with the french dijon dressing. The greens were fresh and the dressing was delicious and tasted as if it had been made in house. For my entree, I had the Alaskan Halibut and substituted the starch for double vegetables (broccoli). The fish wad incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. It was one of the best pieces of fish I'd had in a very long time. I didn't have room for dessert but they had a great menu. The service was good and the severs were friendly.
