I figured the fried rice and salt and pepper wings would be a good place to start...figured I had worked hard that week and topped it off with a fresh squeezed lemonade.... Estimated wait time was short...maybe 15 min...I thought to myself that's pretty good. I arrived in 20 min and my food was there ready to be picked up...unfortunately I also ordered and extra drink...a half and half (blame it on my quick fingers I guess)....I drove home but decided to try the half and half in the car...few sips and I looked to see what happened.......straight fire, no self control lol....expensive but well worth it...very refreshing...I hate to type it...but I believe they have chic fil a beat.. Wings were decent a solid 7.8 out of 10....but it was the beef fried rice that impressed me....it actually tasted fresh...I might have found my new local go-to....I believe they specialize in Vietnamese food but I'll have to explore the menu a little more to give you the ins and outs...when it comes to quick and efficient but fresh...I'm willing to certainly try them again....

Set in a strip shopping center there is plenty of parking. The interior is very clean and attractive with many of the traditional oriental touches. There were 5 of us and we were seated near the front window. I was somewhat surprised at the steady number of customers on a mid-week afternoon. Four of us ordered off of the lunch menu which includes egg roll, fried rice and entree. Our daughter started us off with ordering a "Volcano" cocktail for the table. It comes in a large bowl with a flaming center, very impressive. You get extra long straws to hopefully avoid setting them on fire. I took a sip but opted out for a more traditional cocktail. I started off with hot and sour soup. It wasn't listed on the menu as part of the special but seemed to be included. It was spicy! For my entree I had the chicken with cashews which was delicious with plenty of cashews to keep me happy. All of the others also had chicken dishes except our daughter who had the crispy beef which was not a lunch special. She loves the crispy beef at Jack's and it's her go-to dish of choice. The service was good and the owner who was also working the dining room was delightful. If Jack's Fortune was closer to us it would definitely be on our regular dining out rotation.

The mango shrimp salad was phenomenal--bright, refreshing, and packed with flavor. It was the perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and savory, and honestly could've been a meal on its own. The fish sauce chicken wings were outstanding: crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and coated in a rich, savory sauce that kept you reaching for another wing. We also had the bún bò Huế, which was bold and deeply flavorful with a nice level of spice--exactly what you want from this dish. The pho was comforting and well done, with a clean, aromatic broth and generous portions. The spring rolls were fresh and light, a great starter to balance out the heartier dishes. Overall, Pho Diner delivered on every dish we tried. Solid Vietnamese food with great flavors and variety. Definitely a spot worth coming back to if you're in the Pasadena area.

The pho was so good! I enjoyed the shrimp one. My boys didn't care for the beef rib. Wished the meat was more seasoned. I would definitely be back. Clean establishment that has been there for 3 years. Give it a try!

Came here for lunch on Monday (MLK Day) around 1:30 with my wife, and it honestly hit me that we've…read morebeen here plenty of times but I've never actually left a review. Which is wild, because I know I've taken a bunch of food pics here that I've never posted... complete waste lol. We walked in and were seated immediately and ended up getting the second-to-last available booth. Most of the room was couples on lunch dates, plus a group of friends, and later a party of about 7 took over one of the tables. Noise level was mostly moderate, with a quick sprinkle of loud when that bigger group got going, but nothing crazy, still totally fine for a date or a relaxed lunch. My wife ordered the A2 (slices of eye of round steak, well-done flank, and soft tendon). I got the A6 (eye of round steak and soft tendon). The pho was good, the broth had a lot of flavor. I did order extra noodles because while I like the pho here, the portions are a little smaller compared to some other spots we go to. I loaded mine up with bean sprouts, tore up some basil, and let the jalapeños sit in the bowl for a bit for heat. Lately though, I've been more about the chili oil, which they'll bring out if you ask. We also got shrimp summer rolls, which are always a go-to for me when eating pho anywhere. These were fresh, great texture, and the basil really pops. The peanut sauce is one of the best parts. Honestly, I could come here just for the summer rolls and that sauce. I also grabbed a taro smoothie, lightly sweet and creamy, solid choice. Food came out fast, maybe 8 minutes after ordering. Service here is consistently good. The staff is friendly, not pushy at all, and they actually check in on you without hovering. You can always get someone's attention if you need something. They even let a couple move from a table to a booth once one opened up, which I thought was a nice touch. The place itself is very clean, the tables and floors are always well kept. I don't really remember music, but there was a TV on playing college basketball. Overall vibe is relaxed. Parking can be a little tight since it's tucked behind a Rita's and the layout is kind of awkward, but even when it's full you're not walking far, just a compact lot. Price-wise, our total was about $40, but that included an extra summer roll and an extra smoothie. Without the extras, it would've been under $30. My only real critique is portion size for the price, specifically with the pho. It's not a deal breaker, but it's why this isn't my go-to spot when I'm really hungry. I'm a big guy with a big appetite -- my wife would be fine eating here any day of the week. Would I come back? Yeah. The food is good and the service is solid. For me, this is more of a quick lunch spot or a stop when I'm on the move, rather than a full dinner destination. Consistent, reliable, and never a bad choice, just depends on how hungry you are.

Total came out to approximately $20 (not including tip). What's Hot - Quality. Delicious. My vegetable pho with tofu and vegetables included ingredients like broccoli, carrots, tofu cubes, nappa cabbage and even daikon. - Menu. This is one of the most extensive menus I've seen at a Vietnamese restaurant. Not only do they have the standard pho options, to include bun and drinks, but there are also clay pot options, Singaporean noodles, savory crepes, seafood, and vegan options. There is the option of ordering vegetable broth, which I did, and was delicious. - Price. For the portions and quality of the food, good value for money. I ordered a large pho. That in combination with my summer rolls was enough to get me full and not stuffed. - Service. Because there was a small group of us, we asked they provide us separate checks, which they did. They did a good job of keeping track of our orders and our final tabs were accurate. We did not wait a long time for our food, as well. The only thing that took longer than the pho was the crepe that my friend ordered, but it wasn't too long. My group took a while to order, because we were chatty. We also stuck around for some time after finishing our meals. Their staff was great in checking in on us and refilling our water afterwards. For me, the mark of good service is when they continue to check in on your even after paying your tab. - Layout. It's a small restaurant, but there are booths and tables. There's also a good size parking lot in the plaza. What's Not - Layout. Their layout does not appear to accommodate groups more than 6 people. This location is also a bit of a drive for me, so it's not the most convenient, but that's specific to me. Final Answer Definitely worth returning to.
