They even added some nice unexpected touches like under counter lighting that looks nice in the evening. Another project was putting a drop ceiling and recessed lighting, enclosed closet to hide washer and dryer, more electrical outlets and enamel coating of the floor in the garage. I have heard horror stories about the construction process, surprises that pop up in an old house (our house was built in the late 50's), and the REAL cost of the project. After meeting with four different contractors we decided on Cal Bay. Carlos came across as the most genuine and motivated to do good work. He also quoted us what I thought was a fair price. I can't say enough about Carlos and his crew. They were all very courteous and hard working. The project came out as we had hoped it would, probably even better. We did uncover some unforeseen items along the way that were additional charges, but Carlos was more than fair in his pricing. Also along the way, we added the dining room and all the doors in the house. Carlos was not annoyed with our adds and he did them at reasonable prices. With the little adds (additional outlets, ceiling fan install) I requested he never even added them to the price. Not every contractor would do that. What most people reading this want to know is, DOES CAL BAY DO GOOD WORK? WAS THE PROJECT ON TIME? WAS THE TOTAL COST REASONABLE? I have attached photos, so you can see the final product. My wife and are are very happy with the work and the Cal Bay crew's attention to our vision. The entire project took a little longer than we thought it would, but we did add quite a bit of work and with the unforeseen items, that were not small, it was pretty close to what should be expected. In fact, my wife said she really didn't feel it was as painfully long as some people had told us. Finally, the total cost was within our budget and what we expected to pay. To compare, I met with three other contractors and the final price for my whole project (Unforeseen changes and our add-ons included) was the same price I received from the highest quote for just the bathrooms and kitchen. My wife and I are really happy we chose Cal Bay and I plan on calling the crew back for our next project.

The project included removing a load-bearing wall on the top floor, which required support work to occur on the two floors below, and foundation work at the ground level, and a complete remodel of the kitchen, bath, laundry room, and the addition of a new half bathroom. Peter and his crew were fantastic. They started the job on the promised date, and they made steady progress every day, finishing the project basically on schedule. Communication was good and his crew was friendly and respectful and always cleaned up at the end of the day. A project like this is very disruptive, but all of the SkyTrust folks did everything they could to minimize the impact and allow me to continue to use a couple parts of my home where construction wasn't occurring. When we ran into unexpected issues -- no big ones, thankfully -- Peter was fair and transparent and we worked them out without conflict. Peter is honest, hard-working and reasonable. The quality of the work was excellent, and as a result, we had no problems with any of the city inspections. We also had the chance to meet Mikki, tour another home they were working on, and ask even more questions. Ultimately, we felt really comfortable moving forward with their team. Our project started around the last week of March. Originally, we planned to renovate our kitchen and bathroom and update the flooring and windows. As work began, though, we discovered there was a lot more work that needed to be addressed if we wanted to make this our FOREVER HOME. What started as a partial renovation eventually turned into a full remodel, including the roof! Throughout the process, Mike was very transparent about what needed to be done.
