This is a spot I've had my eye on for a long time due to the onion rings, and boy do they taste as good as they look! The fried onion rings and fried green beans are very good, and the sauce and ranch that came with them are also both very tasty. I couldn't decide on a fried oyster poboy or fried fish poboy, so I did half and half. Either was okay...just okay. This is definitely a place I would go back again and try one of the many eye catching menu items, but this experience was just average. There's plenty of seating around the place, with an outdoor patio (pictured) right over the bayou with phenomenal views. All staff is incredibly nice and friendly, one of those places that everyone knows everyone. Order did take a bit longer to come out though. There are plaques around the restaurant where they've been voted numerous times to have the best fried chicken around or something like that. I ate 1 wing...it was okay. At that point I was a little bummed by my poboy so that may have influenced my opinion, but again this is definitely an establishment I would visit again. read more

This time it wasn't the best experience. My family and I used to go a lot! But slowed down some... til it had been a while. But today 1-11-26 we were not satisfied with the food and the price. My grandson had fried fish platter he said that it was very good. The other 3 of us cant say the same as him. Anyways, the server was nice the place was crowded not a bad atmosphere but the 4 of us sat scrunched up at a small table, and I ordered water like I always do at places I eat. They did not tell us it was only bottled and the fee was 2.49 per bottle. I really dont like to complain. I used to have nothing but good to say. Today was different. Im just being honest about our experience. I hope others enjoy it regardless. I had a grilled shrimp salad and there was WAY TOO MUCH cheese on it and way too much croutons. Maybe 6 shrimp. And when my plate was served I smelled a strange smell from the shrimp. The others had a type of salad and grilled chicken breast Acadiana with a cup of seafood gumbo, had too much rice in it. They had complaints about theirs too. We ended up not eating it all and did not take with us. The grandson ate all his and he was happy. We all were glad at least he enjoyed his. read more

Went last night about 6 pm. There were 7 cars in the parking lot. When we went in all the tables were empty except one couple finishing up. We could hear lots of staff laughing it up in the back, but no one was at the host station. We stood there for probably 10-15 minutes ( long enough for the person with me to go use the rest room and come back) without anyone greeting us. When we gave up and went to walk out finally someone came out but it was too late. Restaurant sign was gone, and maybe they are going out of business. A definite stop on the Crawfish Trail. Set right in the Black Bayou, in summertime I'm told the gators come right up to the deck for marshmallows, delighting kids. The staff were very friendly and our waiter, Nina, a wealth of recommendations and great humor. Onion rings and the seafood platter are must haves, those rings are seriously addictive. We had shrimp poboys, oyster poboy and seafood platter. Very well prepared and presented, the cooks really know their business in the kitchen. Skip the bread pudding, that's the only thing we ordered that was pretty meh. Beware the place packs up by 6:00 on Fri and Sat nights due to live music those nights. I ordered a fried chicken poboy and my wife ordered a hamburger. It took over 50 minutes to get the food. I picked up the poboy and the bread was cold and hard and wasn't even toasted. The chicken looked like a chicken nugget sliced in half as the tiny bite sized piece was dwarfed by the surrounding stale bread. The chicken piece was cold and unappetizing. I figured maybe they were out of fresh bread and chicken and used what was laying around to complete the order. Well, my wife's burger was the same. The bun was cold and didn't seem to be fresh at all and the burger patty was obviously a premade frozen patty that was rubbery and barely warm. The accompanying French fries were the frozen shoe string fries you get from Sams and they were cold. I showed the waitress how nasty the poboy was and she was just as uninterested as the cook was. She did remove the charge for my uneaten sandwich, though...so there was that. Sad, because I heard the place was good a while back. I honestly have had better food at gas stations...at least gas station food is warm when you get it and is a third of the price this place charges. On the way out, I noticed several tables where people had left and a lot of French fries were still on the plates. Apparently others didn't care for the fries, either. For the prices they charge, they should do a lot better than premade frozen patties I can warm up at home myself... read more

While there is nothing fancy about this restaurant, if you enjoy excellent fried chicken and Louisiana seafood, you will enjoy this little bayou side gem of an eatery. On valentines day I ordered a small seafood platter and substituted the stuffed crab for frog legs. I had to call and ask them if I had enough food which the person answering the phone of course said yes. I had 2 pieces of fish, 5 oysters which were fried too crispy, 3 butterfly shrimp and 2 frog-legs for $23. That seems kinda high to me. O yeah and the hush puppy and ball thing! But still the seafood amount was hardly anything for the price thats why I had to call. I said let me tell you what I have a nd you tell me if that sounds right and she said yeah. Thats sad. I know I substituted the frig-legs. But I didn't even get 3 for the stuffed crab and those are expensive. I'll never order that again if I ever eat there again. I don't know how anybody could think the food they serve there is good. It's not even close. We had the fried alligator, a shrimp Poboy, grilled oysters, and something called crawfish queso. Anything fried appeared to have been frozen, not fresh, french fries were not served with the Poboy as advertised in the menu, crawfish queso is a joke! I could go on, but that's enough for now. Th service was amazing. Got the food out super quick and everyone was incredibly nice. Food was decent. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but there was plenty of options on the menu of new things I'd never had before. I have no problem with the interior, many restaurant where I'm from have the same look and feel. It was a tad bit pricier than we expected given the vibe we got from the place, but overall it was a good experience and I think the person I came with would love to come back in the future. Came here for lunch on a Monday. It took over 15mins for the waiter to come to the table and take our drink order. After sitting for over 50 mins the waiter came out to inform us that the lunch special only came with one chicken. We responded that's fine just put whatever is ready. She then stated nothing was ready she was just putting the order in. As a customer this is unacceptable and even more acceptable beings that more than half of our table is in their respective agency duty uniform. I'm so disappointed in the service. read more

Recently we attempted to give this restaurant a try. My wife and I walked in and we were told to have a seat where we would like. As time went on and on with the wait staff making several eye contact, no one came to the table to greet or serve us. I have participated in the restaurant industry, so I can understand how the business can predict the timing of being greeted. At this particular time there was only about 5 or so tables including us. I have eaten at several restaurants, but I have never had experience where no one, I mean no one came to apologize for the wait. With this experience we felt very uncomfortable, not understanding why we were having this type of negative experience. Being a person from the south this was a horrible visit and doesn't represent the welcoming atmosphere that we are known for... I think I keep trying to have hope for this place because it is local and so close and convenient for me. The food used to be pretty good but lately it is terrible and overpriced. I think the place has been run by a bunch of teenagers who don't know the menu or how to cook it. They have gotten my order wrong the last two times I ordered take out. I usually love this place. Ordered the Large seafood Platter so two can share. Don't waste your money. Not enough for one person. Stuffed crab was over cooked. Most of the stuffing was burnt to the shell. Stuffed shrimp was left off. Waitress bought it out later and was burnt like charcoal. I ordered the daily special after. Still was hungry. White beans had no flavor at all. Catfish not cooked enough. Was gelatinous. Bread pudding was good but ice cold. Was very disappointed on this visit. Loved the old time music. We had good service. My only complaint is the poboys although taste great, it's so sloppy. Spilling out of the bun to where I had to put the meat back on. Apparently this is the best fried chicken in the area, but I would beg to differ. It was too oily and was not on par with the flavor of what is considered the best fried chicken. I also got the onion rings that were ok. Parking is provided. It is located a bit far from everything. The restaurant is very unappealing from the get go with an odd smell. First of all, forget the street address, you'll never find it that way. It's on Hwy 182, way, way, WAY out of town in the general direction of Morgan City. If you're driving from Houma, the bayou is on your right, and the restaurant is the first building you'll see on the right, between you and the bayou. It doesn't look like much, just a brick shack. But inside is some fine food. Get the crispy but moist fried chicken with some rice dressing (what folks elsewhere call "dirty rice"). read more

Went here in a recommendation from a friend from the bayou. What a fun little spot, very basic brightly lit interior. Locals spot for sure. I had the crawfish kickers, seafood Gumbo and 4 piece fried chicken with rice dressing. (Some chicken left in a Togo box) The kickers where good with a nice zing. Only criticism was they were a little salty but still good. Seafood gumbo had shrimp crab and a couple oysters. I think it was one of the better gumbos I've had in LA, but I realize that gumbos are very subjective, so don't get bent if you disagree. The fried chicken was star of the show. Just delicious. I highly recommend it. Everything I ordered came out fresh and hot. The service was good and very friendly. Waitress's will give you the honest opinions on the menu. Stopped for lunch after a Bayou Tour. The boudin balls were awesome. Fresh not frozen. The po boys were great.

If you're in the Houma area you've gotta stop at Bayou Delight for some fried chicken. It's a fairly large local place with a nice outdoor deck on the bayou and unexciting decor on the inside but nice people and clearly a locals hangout. Some of the food such as white beans is just average while some such as the fried catfish is above average but the fried chicken is absolutely some of the best anywhere. And big portions so you definitely won't leave hungry. read more

Southern food at its best. I had a wide array of items when here: the fried pickles, crawfish étouffée, a shrimp poboy, and grilled shrimp. Everything was perfectly cooked and prepared in the traditional fashion. I waited a bit for the food, but it was well worth every minute.
