Well if you're looking for an overpriced school cafeteria lunch you found it. The service was excellent. Lady at the counter was very nice. I got a veal platter which consisted of two "veal" patties like you get in high school. I opted for mashed potatoes and gravy instead of the French fries. The food was hot and I should have gotten a poboy. I was hopeful when the cashier told me they make their own ranch dressing in house, but I think like the "veal" they open the package and put it in the container. If I'm back here I'll get a poboy and edit this review. It was ok food because I was hungry but not worth $18. Sorry Mr Poboy you can do better than frying food service frozen patties. read more

I was in town (from El Paso, TX) giving a training to teachers at Elysian Fields School and they all recommended "Mr. Po-Boy" for lunch. I went and had the 8 inch "Ray-Ray" (combo of shrimp, roast beef and sausage-my new all time FAVORITE) with all the fixin's and it was OUTSTANDING!! Plenty big enough. I ate half and saved the other half to eat at the New Orleans airport while waiting for my flight that night, and it was still OMG-DELICIOUS!! The combination was unexpected but those flavors meshed so swell together! It was the BEST thing I have ever eaten! Everything was cooked to perfection! I told them that I would be back after my training, around 3:30 to pick up some to take home and they obliged by putting everything in separate containers so I could put it together and have it as fresh as possible when I got home. I bright home a half n' half (grilled shrimp & fried oyster) and a Buffalo shrimp with ranch. Again, the food was INCREDIBLE! Whenever I am in Houma, this is the place I will go eat! They have an 8" and and 11" inch Po-Boy. Both are filling and stuffed with your ingredients. Just depends on how hungry you are. So, if you are in Houma, like their shirts says, "You've tried the rest, now try the BEST.", and they aren't lying! The food is FABULOUS, the service is SUPERB, and the staff is so COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY!! I highly recommend you go and see Trina, Hannah, Wendell, and the crew at the Mr. Po-Boy on Grand Calliou in Houma, LA.! I am glad i got there just before noon because the restaurant filled up just as I made my order, place got packed within 10min. This location has gone down in the past several years. The owner needs to step in and make necessary changes to get her business back on track. My wife and I loved Mr Poboy but had a change of heart after a horrible experience several years back. One evening around 7 pm, my wife and I were dining in when someone came in the drive-thru with a baby alligator. The "tattooed girl" (who last I recently seen still worked there) working the front counter grabbed the alligator from this person and was walking around the counter and kitchen area showing it to other employees. When I seen this I told my wife, I know for a fact that Alligators carry SALMONELLA!!! After handing it back to the owner at the window, the worker proceeded NOT to wash her hands and went about her business. There is no telling what else she touched throughout the restaurant and contaminated. I stopped visiting this location for years but decided to give it another chance. I don't know if it's just from the prior bad experience but I wasn't happy with my visit or food quality and decided not to go back. read more

Hands down best Po-boy in Houma!! Bayou Blue used to be the best, but somewhere over the years they changed the recipe or management or both, and it really went downhill! I had the shrimp po boy and LOVED it! Usually I am a roast beef kinda gal, but I branched out and didn't regret it. The batter was light and flaky, not too greasy and full of wonderful flavor without overpowering the shrimp. The bread was a tad dry, but some how it worked with the whole experience. The ambiance is wonderful! I love the sheet metal interior. The whole place is VERY clean (which is something I'm really picky about).
