Best Chinese restaurant in the Houma/Thibodaux area. The service is always very good (exceptional when your server is Jamaica -- she is always extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable of the menu, and she provides excellent service). The food is very good and the ambiance of the restaurant is great. We haven't had an entree that wasn't good although the chicken items with breading tend to be very heavy on the batter and very small on the pieces of chicken. The egg rolls aren't very good (low quality and taste more like supermarket frozen egg rolls), but the hot and sour soup is fantastic (although odd that they charge you extra for a few chopped green onions added to the soup). There are a lot more positives than negatives to this restaurant and always worth a visit. read more

First of all, the wontons in the wonton soup had no filling in it and the broth was sour. The crabmeat delight was hard and the filling was a hard ball of cream cheese. Service was fine. The blackened chicken, I had to spit out. Whatever it was, it made me disgusted. The mongolian beef had about 8 pieces of beef and all onions. It was like a soup of onions. If I'm going to pay almost $15 for this plate, I expect to actually have beef in it. The fried rice, it wasn't seasoned all the way including the fact that a portion of the rice wasn't full of soy sauce. Also, the table was wobbly. This annoyed me so much. This is something that if I tried once, I wouldn't go there again. The Lo mein was unseasoned, very bland. I also wish that the noodles would be thicker. I thought that the amount of Lo mein wasn't worth the price. Overall not impressed at all and honestly would rather spend my $100 at Ocean Star. Not to mention, the white rice wasn't even cooked correctly. For being a Chinese restaurant, the rice was raw and undercooked. read more

Went there last night , hostess was a17 year old girl that seemed like she would rather talk to her friend that was next to her than do her job. Went to buffet and it was a small buffet with 2 shrimp dishes and a crawfish. Other samplings were several noodle dishes and the ubiquitous beef on stick and fried chicken. Had three different noodle dish and the chicken and beef on stick. Took several bites of noodles and one of the beef and that was it for me( I did eat all the chicken). I got up ,paid the $13 plus and the school girl never questioned why I would leave after less than 5 min at the buffet. Good food and help are too hard to find. So here's my Golden Dragon experience... driving up I was having second thoughts, but once I got inside it was clean and I was greeted immediately and seated. Now the buffet is small. If you're in town from a big city, you're probably going to be looking for the rest of it. Just so we establish that... you need to know it's not a super buffet with 100's of items. There's probably about 30-40 items on the buffet. Food quality was alright. Not great, but not bad. There are certain things I always get when I go to a buffet and some of those were missing. I also got there toward the end of lunch and there were a lot of empty spaces in the buffet. All of that being said, if you find yourself in Houma and absolutely have to have Chinese food, it's not a bad spot. Everything seemed up to temperature and the staff was friendly enough. My favorite thing about this restaurant is its consistency. The food and the atmosphere are almost always consistent. The same food selections and the same staff almost every time for the last 3 years. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had but close to the best on a buffet in the Houma area. For now I'll give it 4 stars as the place could use some upgrades and I have had an issue with the staff about bringing our own bottle of water. Golden Dragon is my go to place for amazing Chinese food. Chinese. Not Korean. Or Japanese. It doesn't have sushi. Don't give it 1 star because you think just because it's asain everyone will have it. Golden Dragon has some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. The staff is also very nice. Expect whenever it gets busy on a Friday night, 6 people are waiting for their takeout, people keep piling in, and only one person is working the counter. Other than that, amazing! This was the second time I have eaten at this restaurant. The first time I had the buffet, but this time I was too late for buffet, so I ordered off of the menu. One of my favorite things to order at Chinese restaurants is Shrimp Egg Fu Yung. I hit it just right, this place makes the best I have ever had. Three huge patties loaded with shrimp and vegetables, side of white rice and brown sauce for the entree.The waitress was great, she made sure I had refills and was very attentive.
