The strawberry banana smoothie is a classic and my go to. The best bowl in my opinion is the Pacific Beach, which is just a basic açaí with strawberries, blueberries, coconut, and honey. The service is well the workers are pretty fast with first come first serve and making drinks as quickly as possible. This is a really solid acai bowl spot. Like other places, these bowls aren't exactly cheap but you get a lot of substance for your money. My absolute favorite is the Nutella bowl. It feels like a dessert and healthy snack all in one. And the people taking the orders are nice. It's a small place so I won't eat in. I take it to go, eating on Shore Road by the water. I literally feen for these things and I'm glad Bay Ridge has a decent spot to get these bowls from. The closest place to me that sells açaí bowls and I decided to try a Coconut Bowl for the first time. I ordered ahead online and I got the $9 NORTH SHORE (banana, strawberry, pineapple, granola, coconut shavings, honey), which they prepared really quickly and even stored it in the fridge until I arrived for pick-up. Service was quick and employee was friendly. The bowl was 12oz and it was honestly really tiny. I am just finding out now that there is a 18oz bowl option that is a few dollars more, which honestly might make the portions maybe a bit more satisfying. The toppings looked pretty good and sufficient but I really wished there would be more of the base to fill the bowl up instead of just mostly coconut flakes. The taste was not rich in flavor at all, I could barely taste the coconut, and the only sweetness was from the banana. The other fruits were okay, but definitely had better from other açaí/pitaya/coconut places. Not the best, but I would go back to try an açaí bowl or pitaya bowl or smoothie because there just really aren't many options in my neighborhood for açaí bowls. read more

If you drink smoothies with kale in it, it's similar but a thicker spoonable version. When I had the açaí bowl I thought there should've been more bananas, when I got the kale, there was more. I guess it really depends on who makes your bowl or maybe how big the bananas is... both bowls at 12oz came out to around $10-$11. I'm really disappointed and honestly quite frustrated with my latest experience. Today I thought to treat my family with one of our regular spots, baya bar. We frequent this place enough that I've met the owners Ray and her husband a number of times. Anywho, today a young man was making my smoothies. In the midst of making my smoothies, he paused to ring up an order. With his gloved hands, he collected money from the customer, gave her the change and proceeded to continue making my order. I was shocked to watch him push the contents of my smoothie down with the same gloves he had just handled money and loose change with. It was too loud to stop him (more than 3 blenders going at the same time and being little ways away, doesn't make for an easy and not so loud interaction. When he approached me to pass along my order, in a calm voice I asked if he normally changes out his gloves after handling money. To my surprise, he snipped back and said yeah I normally do. I was taken back by his attitude. To avoid me meeting him with the same disrespectful attitude, I took my smoothies and left. However I'm here wondering is this what happens? People make decisions that go against sanitation rules and when made aware of it, they are nasty in return? Despite how many times I've gone there, I don't want to go back. read more

Yes to all things açaí! Açaí bowls are my go to when I don't want a full meal but also don't want a drink as my meal. Also because I can't have ice cream and this is so much healthier for you. When you walk in the menus on the wall can be a bit overwhelming! I knew I wanted a bowl so pivoted my decision to just that. I ordered the pacific beach bowl that has strawberries, blueberries, granola, coconut shavings, and honey. I would honestly skip the honey next time because the açaí blend itself was pretty sweet already. The bowls come in 12oz and 18oz - but note that the 12oz is TINY, just ask them to show you the container before you order. I also ordered the açaí smoothie but didn't like it as much as the bowl because it was mixed with other ingredients like apple juice and coconut milk that diluted the taste a bit. i was craving acai bowls last summer and i figured i'd try out baya bowl, since i would go to their staten island new dorp location pretty often during the school year. i didn't realize how much money i was draining from my wallet until writing this review now! i ordered for pickup on grubhub in advance. when i got there, i had to stand around for around 5 minutes before either of the staff even gave me their attention, even though there was only one other customer in the store. 6/9/20 -acai u later: i know i ordered a small bowl, but wow the portion size was kind of ridiculous for $11. this bowl came with pineapple, banana, granola, strawberry, and honey. i had to end up adding some of my own cut up fruits to the acai bowl to make it more filling. i literally got hungry less than an hour after eating it. i wouldn't say this bowl was overly sweet since i asked for less honey too, but i could definitely tell that there was added sugar anyway. the texture of the acai itself was on the liquidy side, and the taste was just decent. i doubt that the size of a regular acai bowl would've been worth $14, especially if you decide to ask for toppings, which range from $0.75-$1each. the only reason why i didn't regret this purchase was because i had a $5 grubhub coupon for this place; my total actually came out to be only around $6.50. i think this place is great for acai bowls if you have some sort of discount, but $11 for a teeny tiny acai bowl with minimal toppings is just so overpriced. read more

When I ordered I expected the chocolate flavor to be overwhelming but instead it was just the right amount of chocolate that contrasted with the flavors of the bowl well. I would say the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because the coconut shreds were a little overwhelming. The food was great to look at. A layer of granola and then a layer of coconut shreds would have made the piece a little more uniform and consistent in taste. Overall, I would baya baya baya myself some baya bowl again. I've been here on many occasions, and I've never once been fascinated or satisfied with any of their bowls. I've tried essentially everything from their açai, coconut, and pitaya bases to determine if there'd be any difference but nope, all are essentially watery tasting. It feels and tastes as though I'm eating a watered down fruit slushy. While appealing to the eyes, it isn't that flavorable, filling, or appetizing. Their granola is just, meh, and their fruit is either a hit or a miss in terms of taste (tart, sweet, or extremely bland). They aren't cheap either. Not worth it for the price or photo in my opinion. You're better off creating them at home where you can play around with the ingredients to make it the ideal bowl for you for half the cost. read more

I use to come pretty often when I worked around the area two years ago and I decided to go today with my bf. The second I walked in, I got a lot of stares and attitude. I placed my order and waited before they asked us to wait outside. I thought to myself "okay, that's weird" because they let the other 2 customers before us wait inside. But I just thought it was because of Covid so I went outside. The person after me went in and guess what? He was allowed to wait inside. I was like wtf but brushed it off. Then the workers also brought orders out for people that were waiting in their car but placed an order thru their phone. However, when it was my order, a guy that was bringing an order out to someone told me to go in and get it myself. I went in and there was only one drink at the table that looked like mine so I reached for it and the lady behind the counter yells that it's not my order and tells me to step back outside (lol what??) I asked my bf 10 mins later "is it just me or am I getting major bitch vibes?" And he said nah, he felt it too from the moment we walked in 'cause everyone kept staring and talking to us condescendingly. We were the only asian customers btw. Not trying to say they're racist but honestly, that's what it felt like. Also, the drinks were $8. At Fantasy Riceroll, you get the same size, and more ingredients in your smoothie for $6. Won't be coming back here even tho it's a lot closer to my house than Fantasy. The smoothie I got wasn't bad. I actually kinda liked it. He walked me through the menu thoroughly and didn't rush me, even though it was quite busy. I ended up getting the pacific beach and added bananas which was delightful it really satisfied my cravings for an acai bowl. It was fresh and refreshing. I've been wanting to try their bowls since the first day I moved to the neighborhood and I finally stopped in today. First impression was it was loud! The shop is very cute and inviting and the inside is lively, sound and color-wise. I got the copa cabana bowl, which was so pretty, and also tasted pretty good! The wait time was very reasonable. My only issue is that the pineapple didn't have the texture of fresh fruit, I couldn't put my finger on what it was, but it was off in some way. It was still really good though. There isn't much seating, but it's more a pop in, and go place. I'd like to go back and try some of their juices and a different bowl. Overall, it was a good experience! Update: came back and tried the pacific açaí bowl. It has coconut, granola, strawberry and blueberry. Very good, I think I liked it even better than my last bowl. Also, there was a very difficult customer who was ordering while I was waiting at the pickup bar and the guy at the register was very polite and handled her well. I wouldnt say acai bowls are my thing but it seems like they are the trend these days. This store is clean and has a lot of great options if you are interested in this type of food. I ordered the banana, strawberry, coconut, nutella, acai bowl and it was very good. The reason it is not my thing is that the acai is cold and the fruit is room temperature so my teeth get sensitive to the change in temperature. Overall the bowl was well made and customer service was great. The portions I think could be a little bit bigger and it is pretty pricey for a bowl.
