This review is so long overdue. Got married in February 2023. Chantelle did both my hair & makeup and I can honestly say I could not have been happier. I did my trial for my bridal shower and knew immediately I was in the right hands. She was so easy to talk to. We all know wedding hair and makeup takes a while, so it's nice to work with someone you can enjoy during that time. She was so nice, we had great conversation. On the wedding day, she took the two tiny little changes I wanted to make from the trial and executed them perfectly. I received so many compliments and the pictures turned out amazing! With HMU, you get what you pay for. I've learned that the hard way over the years being in other weddings. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth every penny. I had a friend tell me that was the one thing she wished she had paid a little more for on her wedding day and I am so glad I didn't have that regret. Chantelle was completely unresponsive, not answering calls or messages, and was nowhere to be found when we needed her the most. I even paid for one of the artists to stay to touch up my makeup and hair and she didn't end up having to do anything! My hair has never really held a curl, but my half-up, half-down hair style still looked curly and beautiful at the end of the night. Chantel even let me borrow a hair-piece that literally MADE my hair-do for my wedding! For free! She just asked me to mail it back to her. So sweet! Also at first I wasn't 100% sold on my hair-do, and Chantel made sure to stay and try a few things to ensure I ended up loving it, which I did :). Ashley did a great job with make-up! To be honest though, in many of the pictures that were taken by friends/family during the reception that I saw afterwards, my mouth dropped at how white the area underneath my eyes looked. I also noticed this is my sister's photos, who also had her makeup done by Ashley. I look like a ghost in some of them (photos not attached here). I wish I had realized that it would look like this or else I would've asked Ashley to fix it. I had hired another artist who was only slightly cheaper and she canceled on me only a month before the wedding because I wanted to tweak a few things from the trial. Luckily Kathryn had an opening for my wedding and stepped in very quickly to help me. Let me tell you, Bay Area Beautiful is leaps and bounds more knowledgeable and experienced than my other person and I have trial photos to prove it. They've done so many weddings they know exactly what to do and how to achieve it. Chantelle did a trial for me and was great and left me feeling at ease. Kathryn did makeup as well as MOH and MOG the day of. They gave me exactly what I asked for, there were no issues with the makeup or hair. That makeup did not move all day, I didn't even get oily or shiny. My hair did not move all day and looked great. Kathryn knew right away that the style I liked needed extensions and she was very helpful in getting any materials I needed for the day of especially since I don't live in the area. Both of them were super nice and calm people that helped the wedding preparations go smoothly and were also very fun. WOW WOW WOW! Not only was Kathryn quick to respond to my millions of questions before the wedding and guide me through planning because I was a new bride (hopefully there won't be a second time), but on the day of, she and Chantelle were awesome. They trekked from far away to make it to my venue, then took care of 9 of us for hair and makeup, all while cracking jokes with us and providing some great music. They even helped my flower girl get glammed, which was a last minute addition. They really listened to what each of us wanted and made sure to deliver. By far, booking my vendor for hair was the most difficult booking of my wedding planning. I had a very distinct vision in mind of loose, romantic waves with slick-backed front bangs. I browsed so, so many wedding hair Instagram profiles, and just wasn't seeing what I was going for. I was referred to Bay Area Beautiful by my wedding photographer, and in browsing their Instagram profile, I found a photo of the exact hair look I was aspiring to! I saw in the caption that Chantelle was the hair stylist behind this particular look. I quickly booked Bay Area Beautiful and a trial with Chantelle. For my trial, Chantelle was flexible in my limited timing and gave me a relaxing reprieve during a jam-packed weekend of trials/tastings. Chantelle made me a true partner in the hair styling process, pausing often to get my input. The trial hair was an excellent start and Chantelle encouraged me to wear it for the full day and make notes of any changes I had. When it was time for the actual wedding day, Chantelle listened intently to the subtle changes I had in mind and executed those alterations seamlessly.
