To make a very long story short, we were verbally promised delivery within 7-10 days, latest was July 10th, of the pick up date. That did not happen. They even blew past the 20 day delivery window in the contract. Our delivery did not show up until July 27th. All the while we were receiving harassing texts demanding the rest of the payment or else they would turn around. And when the truck did finally arrive, only the driver was present to unload it. We paid for loading and unloading services and were basically left on own with the driver to unload. I have a physical disability and was unable to help, so my partner bore the burden of five grueling hours of unloading a 26 foot moving truck with the driver. We contacted the company after an hour or two passes and still no other movers arrived and were told that, in fact, they WERE there! They even argued with us saying that the movers confirmed they would be there in 45 minutes, 2 hours ago. And yet. No movers. Also the driver used a slur in front of my partner and I about a group of people that I belong to. Absolutely disgusting.

The next morning I confirmed and talked with Roman on the phone and he was very thorough and explained everything to me, including their pricing and payment procedures. On the day of the move, Alex texted me that they were on their way and arrived exactly when he said they would. They were super professional and fast and I felt totally at ease with Alex and his crew. For my 2 bedroom move, they sent 3 movers with a huge truck. They had wardrobe boxes I could use for my clothes, which was much appreciated. They took apart things like my table, tv stand, book shelves, etc. and wrapped everything. I didn't need them to pack but I would trust them completely if I had. Very happy with this experience and I'd definitely recommend to anyone moving in the South Bay (Gardena/Torrance/Hawthorne). However, I was charged an additional ~$400 in fees to transport my possessions up/down stairs that were not disclosed in initial messages, and was only revealed after the move was performed, too late to dispute or negotiate after the work was performed. In the contract there is no mention of stair surcharges either, so it feels like the individual movers that performed the work added this on top of the contracted fee. The movers did not speak English fluently which added to the confusion over payment and breakdown of costs. Overall the job was performed as expected but the final costs were way more than expected.

Hilariously, when the store delivery truck arrived with the new ones, they looked at our laundry room and complained about almond everything, said no way would they fit (same dimensions as the old ones- they fit!), and even had to take the door off to get them in (which Eric didn't have to do). Eric was so friendly, punctual, capable, and professional every time, and always went above and beyond. I came down once to check on him and he was putting furniture pads (that he had bought) on the bottom of all my chairs! Definitely not in the job description. When I investigated, the post office explained that Box Bros uses a third-party vendor for overseas shipping, and that vendor sent the package back. When I brought the returned package to Box Bros, the employee on duty was sympathetic but said there was nothing they could do. In other words: I paid $300 for a service that was never completed, and was told I was on my own. I ended up shipping through USPS for $120, bringing my total cost to $420. I returned to Box Bros seeking a refund. The owner acknowledged the issue and promised to make it right -- possibly a partial refund or store credit -- but was vague about the details. That was over six months ago. Despite multiple visits and assurances from staff that the owner would reach out, I have never been contacted. **Bottom line:** Box Bros is still a great spot to buy boxes -- it's the best option in the area for that. But I would not recommend using their shipping services. You'll pay significantly more than USPS, UPS, or FedEx, and if something goes wrong, don't expect a resolution. One star, because they promised to fix this and never followed through.
