I had some very specific design challenges (too much gold in the bathrooms) and they walked me through how I might minimize the impact of introducing yet another set of hardware (the glass hinges). Also when I went to their office in Manassas to see the hardware, the person who greeted me offered me a snack for the ride home since he know I had driven a long way. It's kind gestures and patience like this that make all of the difference in terms customer experience and satisfaction. They worked with us in designing bookcase so that it was attractive and functional, including a customized pull-out computer laptop tray. Very simple Repair (the pull of a Hunter Douglas shade). Bobby initially told me he knew all about…read morehow to repair the shade and it would be done in 3 weeks. He promised we could get the same pull as I had. Because this was one of 16 shades in the same room it was critical to not replace it because they are 15 years old teh the color would not match. He did not meet any of those promises. He misinformed me about what parts HD had or did not have and what he was capable of repairing. He simply did not know. Then he ordered a new shade from them which they were willing to replace. He never bothered to take measurements, he relied on a list I provided him but did not verify which one he was ordering, though he had this information and the damaged shade. We waited many weeks. Then he came out to replace it. Wrong size. He ordered it again, and I told him he needed to make certain he was ordering the correct size and not to rely on HD and to check it before coming out. Second shade comes he comes over and it's wrong size again. The thing is he did not even bother to open the package to check the size before coming out the second time even though I asked him again. Finally he came out many weeks later and installed it. He wanted to charge me over $400 because he came out three times. All those needless trips were all his fault. All he had to do was open the box and check the size. I was very disappointed he wanted to take advantage of the situation in this monetary way. He doesn't know as much as he says he does.

He can find and order the parts and install replacement pulls. MUCH less expensive than replacing the blinds, and I can't repair them myself. Very professional job - top shelf support. He lets me know in advance exactly when he will be here and shows up on time. I'm sure he can help pick and install blinds for a larger project, but all I've done is repair. For repair - 5 stars!

I have been trying to talk with them about another project (and covering a gap they left at the bottom of the storm door), without success. Maybe they are too busy to bother with responding to my emails, maybe the project is too small for them to be interested in talking about it, or maybe it is an unfortunate but understandable language problem. I would like them to finish the last job by covering the gap with a flashing (they removed the previous flashing, and left a gap.) I would not recommend this company if you want to talk with them about a project you are considering. Bemex is unlikely to respond timely to your questions. If you can get a response, I think they are likely to do decent work
