Had a great experience with Zen Windows. We had been wanting to change our windows for a long time due to the noise from 270. We were putting it off because I was tired of companies calling and emailing non stop after giving a quote. Zen Windows called me once, they gave me an estimate, and then we decided to book with them. They didn't call nonstop until we decided - they gave us time to think. The process was so easy and they did an awesome job installing. The sound has been lowered SIGNIFICANTLY. Would recommend to anyone!! read more

This is an update to my initial review. I wasn't going to use Zen windows because at the time of speaking with Scott I had a different company working on my siding in our townhome. However, I didn't use that company because they wanted a lot of money to redo windows and doors. Some time later I remembered Zen windows and reached out to them for a quote. It was the best decision we have ever made. I cannot recommend the Zen Windows team highly enough for their outstanding work in replacing the windows and doors in our townhome. From start to finish, their professionalism, attention to detail, and craftsmanship were truly exemplary. Every step of the process was handled with precision and care--no detail was overlooked. The team took the time to ensure that every window and door fit perfectly, operated flawlessly, and met our expectations. Their expertise was evident in their meticulous installation and their ability to troubleshoot any challenges that arose. Not only were they efficient and on time, but they left our home clean and tidy at the end of each day. It's rare to find a team that combines skill, professionalism, and a commitment to customer satisfaction, but Zen Windows delivered on all fronts. If you're considering window or door replacement, trust Zen Windows--you'll be thrilled with their results. They've completely transformed our home, and we couldn't be happier with their work. read more

Simply put, our experience with Zen Windows was amazing. Could not recommend more. From our stress free and quick quote with David to a perfectly executed installation with James and team, Zen Windows was amazing. Their pricing is extremely fair and their turnaround time was great. If you are in the market for new windows and don't know where to start, I HIGHLY suggest reaching out to Zen Windows. read more

They are well-organized and methodical in their approach to bringing the project to completion. I especially appreciated how they took the guesswork out of the process. They stopped by to take precise measurements for the door and suggested adjustments to the door frame to ensure a better installation. On the day of the installation, the team arrived on time, despite the snow, and within three hours we had a new fireproof entry door. Their professionalism, expertise, and quality of work truly inspire confidence. read more

I received several quotes for three doors I needed to be replaced. The best quote with a high quality product was from Zen. We finalized the deal, worked out the payment, and I even received a military discount on top of the better quote I had initially received. Other vendors had slicker computer tools and tried the last ditch discount to try to close the deal on the spot, but I believe in competition and saved A LOT by doing so. It took about 6 weeks for the door I ordered to come in. They did the work in a day, and the ProView doors they installed are fantastic. I couldn't be happier. My advice, get quotes from multiple vendors, don't fall for the final discount pressure tactic, and invite Zen Windows as one of your vendors. You will not regret it. They are awesome, and will stand out in any comparison you make. read more

Install Provia Endure EN6500 Series Sliding Patio Door with Art Glass. Bottom Line: This is the first time we have used this company, and they did excellent work for a reasonable price, and more importantly, built a huge amount of trust with the customer. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy, but the back-and-forth communication required to finalize the many detailed options was a bit slow; however, the owner Scott Halle interceded and timely communication continued throughout the rest of the process. Scoping Work: This is where Zen Windows really excels, primarily because of the vast knowledge of James Bond. We wanted to replace the single door with side transoms with something that would maximize the opening space. James expertly walked us through the options with cost and wall modification comparisons. In addition, the header above the current door was swelling and pinning the door, and James evaluated the issue, likely water seeping down from an unflashed deck, and provided peace of mind his guys could fix it on site during installation. Quality of Work: Frankly, 75-80% of contractors fail here for three primary reasons: a horrible handoff from the product specialist to the onsite project foreman, project foreman and workers making assumptions about details vice asking the customer, and lack of quality detailed work. The foreman excelled in these areas ensuring we were on the same page for various details such as casing, caulking, and external trim. In addition, he completely replaced the rotted wood structure above and along the sides of the door and added customer-provided insulation where there were gaps. To keep the project on track, they brought in another expert worker and management arrived to ensure the quality of work was high. The end product was beautiful. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angie's List companies. Zen Windows' expertise, willingness to explain the details of the project, timely communication, and excellent work took the hassle out of this project. read more

Our house was built in 1968 and originally had single-pane windows. A while back, we replaced all the standard double-hung windows but had two specialty windows that were too difficult for the first contractor. Years went by and it was time to replace our bow window (where the garage door had once been) and a garden window in the kitchen (the kind that sticks out so you can put plants in it). We wanted multiple quotes. Zen responded fast (over the weekend) and used our measurements and photos to get an initial quote (when we later selected Zen, they sent a representative out to take measurements for the order.) A second company sent a measurer out to give the quote significantly later. Three other companies either didn't respond or turned down the work. Here's the best part: Zen provided a quote quickly and professionally. The other contractor took much longer to provide a quote and it came in at nearly twice the price! It did take a few weeks over the holidays for the windows to come in, but they were specialty windows and that was to be expected. They didn't ask for payment upfront but did ask us to sign a contract. As the installation date approached, they reached out to us to confirm our availability, ask that our items be removed from the workspace, and other small technical details to make the installation seamless. They arrived on time, got right to work, and left the area clean. Zen's project manager came and gave us a walkthrough of the new windows. Later that day, they sent the warranty information. One thing to plan for is that Zen doesn't paint or stain after installing. That helped them get both windows done in half a day. I'll take care of that this weekend. read more

AMAZING CREW AMAZING PRICE AMAZING QUALITY AMAZING PROFESSIONLISM The ZEN crew that installed our front door and storm door were very meticulous about every detail. Taking the time to customize the fit for a new door as it seems our Townhouse was not quite a standard build. The Townhouse was built in the early 90's so some settling occured. Plust the width of the door was not standard. It as about a inch smaller. They customized, bumpet out 1/2 inch so door would not touch storm door. They checked and doubled checked for levels. It was a 3 man team and they did not stop for about 4pm. Cutting, measuring, adjusting. Answered all out questions. They also worked clean. They covered our furniture, vacummed incremently with a vacuum that did not actually blow out the dust in the whole house. They even mopped the floor when they were done. I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS COMPANY ZEN WINDOWS. These days I have just about giving up on my expectations with Quality and professionalism these days, but this company is fantastic. I will add more pics of door later. It door looks so good. read more

We met with three companies and ultimately chose Zen Windows to replace a front door and storm door at the height of COVID supply chain disruptions. Zen Windows' quote was marginally higher than others, but comparable. Scott was low pressure and up front about custom materials taking a bit longer than typical. We appreciated the transparency and the prompt communication. We felt good about the company, its ratings, and the excellent and low pressure customer service. Long story short, there were challenges with installation for a few reasons - to include the custom storm door delivered was off by nearly an inch. The door was fully installed before I caught the issue - something that would not have been noticed by most. This is really where Zen Windows shined. Scott was 100% committed to making sure we got the exact product we wanted and that fully met our expectations. Scott worked with the door manufacturer to make the issue right - and installed a new storm door. In my view, the true test of a company and its performance comes when there is a challenge along the way. Scott went above and beyond to make sure the product and service we received met our expectations and we are very happy with the result. read more

I took estimates from a half dozen companies, and decided to go with Zen as they had fair prices and were able to document (with diagrams and pictures) their intended scope of work. Every small detail was appropriately addressed, and the work was completed to our complete satisfaction. Some of the dimensions of our windows were tricky to fit, but the contours were completed properly. They were also responsive to our emails and calls, and kept us in the loop. read more

In brief, the Yelp reviews (at least in my experience on customer service) are accurate: Zen was top notch. I called Zen about a potential project. Turns out my requirements weren't quite in their wheelhouse (or almost any window replacement company - my fault). But what I appreciated was not only did a Zen rep answer the phone quickly, she connected me immediately with a tech to further discuss. Their tech was incredibly friendly and clearly explained why it wasn't a good fit, and even offered some tips on what kinds of contractor firms to look to get my project done. All in all I learned more in 5 minutes with Zen than I had in two hours online and calling others. If I ever have a window project in the future, they cemented themselves as my first call thanks to this experience. Job well done, Zen! read more

Wonderful to work with and we love supporting family owned businesses!! They were patient when I had a asked a million questions (it was our first time purchasing new windows and I wanted to make sure I understand the process and differences in windows) and went over and beyond with service. They showed up exactly on time and the crew was very very polite. We actually are getting ready to order a second set of windows (we only purchase 10 this round and need to purchase another 10) because it went so well!!! Highly recommend this family owned business. read more

Another update 7-29-24 A guest of ours broke the screen on our back screen door and the screen door eventually fell off completely. We called up Zen Windows and they came out and replaced everything. The main reason for the update.........I also had an issue with the front storm door and mentioned it to the crew. Out home was built many years ago and as the house continues to settle, things don't fit perfectly. When I mentioned the issue, I understood that they may not be able to do anything about it and that I may need to schedule another time for the front storm door. The foreman was very helpful and made a call and him and his crew ended up fixing the front storm door. It's folks like them that make Zen Windows really great and always recommended. Great communication and they take their lifetime warranty seriously. read more

Zen Windows went above and beyond what window installers can do. I had almost all of my first and second floor windows replaced. One window we knew had wood rot around the frame, before installation, but the damage was worse than we thought. Because of that, another team team came our to my home a week later to replace all the bad wood to properly install that window. They had to take off siding and drywall to properly replace the support studs and the window frame. The only evidence that they had done anything was drywall inside that house that needed primed and painted. I am glad that I choice Zen Windows, with a special thanks to Scott, James, and Josh. read more

We had 30+ windows and one 3-pane door installed in our home in Nov 2023 and had a great experience with Zen from the no-pressure sales meeting all the way through to installation day. Scott, David, James and the installation crew was responsive, trustworthy and easy to work with. They took down blinds, removed security tags, installed the windows and rehung the blinds again all in a day and a half. We love our new windows and would highly recommend Zen to anyone. read more

Our builder grade 1990s wood windows, front door, transom and side-lite windows had all suffered from age and neglected painting resulting in rotted wood, infiltrated panes, broken grids, ripped screens, and issues opening and closing many of them. They were all long overdue for replacement and then we discovered Zen Windows of Washington, DC. They are consummate professionals. Their high quality, energy efficient products backed by a transferable lifetime warranty, strong technical knowledge, excellent value (price/quality relationship), pressure free consultative sales approach, and absolutely incredible install team left us 100% satisfied from beginning to end. The leader of the install team promised us that they would do the install as if it was his own home and actually did! I am very detail oriented and given the complexity of the job, their work was truly unbelievable. It's perfect! Don't waste your time with Andersen, Pella, Thompson Creek or others. Although I didn't end up getting my door and window replaced, I appreciated the quick estimate and they didn't waste my time with a required in home sales pitch like other contractors. My wife and I hired Zen Windows to replace and install a dozen windows. The owner, Scott, was a pleasure to deal with--he was very friendly and prompt in responding to emails and calls. The work crew did an outstanding job installing the windows and cleaning up after finishing. Cant speak to the quality of the work but based purely on the price I was quoted, there is a large markup compared to smaller companies. I did get the vibe from the salesperson that he knew I wasn't gonna be willing/able to afford them. Shop around and you can get comparable work done for a much better fee. read more

Zen Windows replaced 3 of our windows, and we look forward to having them replace the rest in our home. Communication was easy, their pricing and warranties were better than others we received quotes from, and Scott was a pleasure to work with. Not overly sales-y and clearly puts the homeowner's interests first. The installer was polite, not overly chatty, arrived early and did the work quickly and cleaned up after himself. Super minor thing, but he asked my permission to put a Zen Windows yard sign out after the work was done, whereas most contractors just do it without a second thought. Highly recommend! read more

I recently called Zen Windows because I thought my sliding glass door was leaking. David Paul came to my house for possible estimate of a new sliding glass door. Thank you Zen Windows for being an honest company, would highly recommend them. read more

Since I was so satisfied with the new windows from Zen Windows, I decided to replace the front door and the storm door. Again the process to get a quote was quick transparent and Scott never urged or pushed me. After confirming what I needed, it was all set. On the day of installation (waiting time was much shorter than windows), a son and father team arrived on time. They started removing doors and frames quickly. Their workmanship was exceptional and meticulously detail-oriented. They cut door frame moulding precisely so it looked seamless. They also removed damaged panels and replaced it perfectly. They also installed a new door bell button and house numbers (I got them while they were working on doors). Every time I go out and come back home, I feel like living in a new house. Again I'm so happy with the result and will recommend Zen Windows to anyone planning for windows and door replacement. read more

I had my windows replaced in late July. I selected Zen based on online reviews but also on the strong recommendation of a friend. The windows and sliding door were installed nicely and appear to be high quality. However, a few caveats for your consideration: 1. When the windows and sliding door were installed, two of the surrounding frames were messed up. One large set of window frames were scratched up (large noticeable scuffs where the paint came off) and the other frame was filled with fine nail holes. It looks really ugly and the installing team did not repair that. I informed Scott, who said this would be taken care of, but this was forgotten or overlooked. I could have pressed but I wasn't in the mood to nag for these fixes. 2. When the windows were removed, this introduced two different types of flies into my house. It took about 4 weeks for me to get rid of the regular houseflies and about 7 weeks to kill off the small moth-type fly infestation. 3. When the team came, they walked through the house for 8 hours in their regular work shoes with no booty covers. In the future, I would ask for this. I'm actually glad I decided to replace only the top two floors of windows. I'm going to find another company to install the windows for the lower floors with these lessons learned. If you're going to spend over $10,000 on any service, you should expect the best and you shouldn't need to beg for it. read more

I received estimates from multiple top companies and a big box store for all new windows and sliding doors in my home. Scott was the last one I spoke with but the first and only one who made me feel completely comfortable about the materials, process, and workmanship. He answered my questions directly with no fluff or haggling. (I guess when you know you will deliver quality work, there's no need for a fancy sales pitch.) Scott worked with me to modify the capping plan for HOA approvals. His team of installers were incredibly professional and did excellent work. I noticed an immediate difference in the sound blocking of my new, beautiful windows. I've now had the windows & doors through winter and most of the summer, and the climate control in my home has greatly improved. Between professionalism, communication, workmanship, and value, this is by far the best window company around. read more

Installation, sales, all.of that was great. However, during the installation I noticed locking issues with several windows. We have had to have them come multiple times to.fix. I contacted Zen Windows to receive advice on replacing some old windows and one window, in particular, showed signs of wood rot. It was easy to make an appointment with Claire by phone and David showed up the next day right on time. He was able to identify the issue with the wood rot immediately upon inspecting from the outside. I didn't need new windows but need a GC to fix the problems. There was absolutely no sales pressure and I received a very honest assessment from David. By not buying windows, I can use that money to fix the true problem with the house's original construction. So relieved to find an honest company!! read more

I did a LOT of shopping around (8 quotes) before settling on Zen Windows and I have 0 regrets with my choice. Steer clear of Window Nation and the other big national chains, I felt like taking a shower after those meetings. Scott was low pressure, he just gave me a detailed quote after discussing my options and said he hoped to hear from me. No high pressure sales like many of the other guys. I went with Zen for 2 reasons: Price was good, not the cheapest but close. Second and most importantly, they offer a lifetime transferable warrant on EVERYTHING, including accidental breakage! They were the only company that covered accidents. They cover parts and labor/installation for a lifetime and the warranty conveys with the home when you sell. I can't think of a better sign that the company is confident they do good work than a lifetime warranty on every aspect of the job and materials. Ok, installation: Once the contract was signed, the windows took forever to be fabricated (over 4 months). However, that is due to pandemic related supply chain issues and not Zen Windows fault. I have 22 windows and they completed the install in 1 day! They were fast, clean and meticulous. A few windows has rotten wood inside and they replaced it and added extra insulation at no charge. My house is much warmer than it used to be. I decided to wait a few weeks before writing my review because I want to 'kick the tires' a bit. It was built in 1929 and many windows were original so the difference is drastic. I've been through two snow storms and several moderate rain falls. Everything is great so far and and I honestly can't think of a single complaint. read more

Although I didn't do business with Zen Windows, it was a pleasure talking to the owner, Scott, and the quote process was a breeze. I needed to replace our sliding glass door in the basement leading to our patio. After receiving quotes from Zen Windows and one other company, we decided to go with Zen Windows. Scott, the owner, was a huge reason why. He was very transparent about pricing and the timeline for our project. It took about four and a half months from getting our quote to getting our door installed, so it wasn't a fast timeline, but that's to be expected with just about anything these days. The two men who put the door in this morning were extremely friendly and courteous. They took extra care to ensure our space didn't get dirty, and they actually left the area cleaner than when they arrived. They also scoured the driveway to ensure no debris was left behind. James, the project manager, stopped by multiple times to check on the progress and explain features of the door to me. All of the time and attention given by everyone involved really shows they care about their products and the quality of their work. Go with Zen Windows for projects like mine. It is completely worth the extra money you would spend as opposed to a big box store, as you'll have complete peace of mind that your project will be done exactly as it should be. read more
