They told me it would be no problem and that I could see the same doctor who performed my surgery, as the doctor is in network for me. Wonderful. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU: If you have vision insurance, they won't submit the claim through it. For some reason, they only submit through MEDICAL. If you don't know that ahead of time, too bad--you get to pay for the appointment through medical and it isn't covered as part of your annual vision benefits. NOTE: The entire appointment was a routine annual checkup, with the same exact tests done at any other eye doctor. However, they consider themselves "specialists," so they won't use vision insurance. Borderline fraud, and when I called to raise the issue, they didn't seem to care.

But they refused to provide her the results of the exam without an additional $75. I spoke to them and their story made no sense whatsoever. They would immediately provide the results by email for $75 but -- due to HIPPA -- would require 3 weeks and a pile of paperwork to provide everything but the actual prescription. They called the $75 a "refraction fee" but it's actually a junk fee. It's also illegal to refuse to provide medical records under NYS 18(2). If their plan was to upsell $5-10,000 of Lazik procedures to a person whose family earns below 107% of the poverty line, it was a stupid plan and it was cruel. Don't do business with them.
