Hands down the best speakeasy or cocktail bar we visited while in MTL. It's behind a hidden door…read morenext to the smallest bar in Canada, which is so fun. You want to be brought in and it's dark and moody with the BEST craft cocktail list. The theme is duck - which is so fun. Our bartender was OUTSTANDING. He gave not only the best drink recommendations, but also gave us a hand written list of his favorite spots in MTL (drinks, dining, activities, etc). I wish we would've gotten his name because I cannot praise him enough!

The first time, the music was extremely loud, and it seemed like they were short-staffed. The bar was completely packed, and there was only one bartender making drinks, so the wait was a bit longer than expected. We decided to give it another try, and I'm so glad we did. The second visit was amazing! The bartender working that night was incredible--she clearly knows her craft and made our drinks quickly without sacrificing quality. Every cocktail was delicious, and the overall experience was much more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Coldroom. My only suggestion would be that, with a space that busy, the bar could really benefit from having an additional bartender during peak hours. It would help keep wait times down and make an already great experience even better.

They took me INSIDE. Through the restaurant. And out the other side into this absolutely fantastic hidden courtyard. Excuse me?? Why did nobody tell me we had upgraded accommodations? The back patio is one of those spaces you'd never know existed from the street. There are stone walls, greenery climbing everywhere, strings of lights overhead and some seriously cool artwork and murals. It feels tucked away from the bustle of Old Montreal and, once the lights came on, had a really warm, relaxed atmosphere. Most importantly, nobody seemed remotely concerned that a tiny Italian Greyhound had joined the dinner party. I was welcomed right in. Mum ordered the trout over couscous, which looked extremely impressive. She did give me some of the trout. Dad ordered the steak frites. I repeat: Dad ordered steak. At a dog-friendly restaurant. While sitting next to a dog. He did not share. I feel like we've covered this issue before. Dad had wine, Mum had a Diet Coke, and I spent much of dinner curled up comfortably with Mum while monitoring the steak situation. There were developments. None favorable to me. But Wolf & Workman is exactly the kind of place we're always hoping to find when traveling: somewhere the humans don't have to compromise on having a genuinely great dinner just because I'm with them. This wasn't simply "there are a couple of tables outside where you can put the dog." I got the good patio. Dogba's verdict: 5 paws out of 5. Dog welcome: enthusiastic Surprise hidden courtyard: exceptional Murals: excellent photo opportunities Evening atmosphere: Mum approved Mum's trout: apparently delicious Dad ordering steak in my presence: provocative Wine for Dad: yes Steak for Dogba: I'd prefer not to discuss it Would absolutely return. Although next time, when someone says Wolf & Workman, I expect considerably more attention to the wolf portion of the clientele.

They have an interesting drink menu that isn't too highly priced and they do serve a selection of burgers and poutine that hit the spot when those late night munchies kick in. In the summer, their patio is usually full and you get a great view of Monkland village ambiance which I love. It's walking distance from Villa Maria Metro Station and plenty of Ubers in the area if you live a bit further away and need a ride home. I've been coming to Typhoon since I moved to Montreal in 2007 and have seen it change from a complete dive student bar to a cleaner, slightly more upscale place. The student ambiance is completely gone now though, not that I'm complaining.

The weather was beautiful for a bit but then turned a complete 180. Huge rainstorm so we had to run inside to keep dry. The menu is small and generic; appetizers, burgers, house plates, salads and desserts. They had a few daily specials. Tuesday tequila and tacos ($3.00) sounds like a fun night. - Berry breeze sangria ($29.00 pitcher) - raspberry vodka, strawberry nectar, grapefruit, cranberry, orange, berries & lemon and red wine. Honestly, I've never been impressed with any sangria's I've had when going out. This was okay but way too icy. A fun place to people watch outside and grab a drink.

All I can say is wow! I have been meaning to visit entre-deux for a while, and I am glad we finally…read moremade it for a date night last Sunday. This small-ish, cozy café/resto/bar in NDG serves both lunch and dinner and while the aesthetic and ambiance can seem quite lowkey and unassuming, the quality of the food is absolutely highkey, menu is well thought out & reflects fresh seasonal ingredients and above all, incredibly delicious! (Chef is from Manu Cornuto). They have great selection of natural wines (my fave) and they carry a lot of Dieu du vin wines (another fave local wine company). We ordered a bottle of wine for the evening but the bartender is the mixologist from Cloakroom so I can't wait to return and try their cocktails as well. It is a tapas menu made to share but the portions were surprisingly quite generous and we ordered 3 'appetizers', 1 'main' and a dessert between the two of us. The beef tartare and the bitter lettuce salad were both amazing (and I was too hungry to take a photo of these dishes). The grilled cauliflower with mornay sauce alongside the braised rabbit was also to die for. I am not usually a dessert gal but I was very grateful that we tried their dessert of the day as it was so good! Based on reading the menu and their story, I knew I was going to like this place but I can't wait to bring more of my friends here. It is worth mentioning that I thought the pricing here is quite fair for what you get, especially seeing as many restos upped their prices significantly post-pandemic. It could also be that they have 25% off all wine and cocktails on Sundays and we came on a Sunday (it was a very nice surprise ). Overall: 5 Food: 5 Service: 5 Value: 5 Ambiance/Atmosphere: 3.8

The restaurant is dimly lit with candles and the bar is warm and welcoming. The service is personable and the waiter made great recommendations. The duck breast was the star of the show with the crispy layer of skin and well seasoned tender meat. The mushroom conserva also earned its stars with a great combination of savory umami with a hint of spice. The deconstructed croque madam special was also decent. The trouble came with the cod which was very salty. We asked to send it back and our waiter was gracious enough to help us replace it with the agnolotti. While the agnolotti tasted great, we would've liked the sauce to be a little thicker so it would stick to the agnolotti. We had white wine to accompany our meal which helped tie the meal together. Overall, I would say Entre-Deux is a great meal that gets you full with a reasonable price tag. And 11/10 for vibes and service.

While the restaurant is highly celebrated and located within a Michelin-recognized hotel building, it does not hold a Michelin star of its own. But it is extremely classy. We decided to do lunch instead of dinner and it was a little more our speed, but if very, very attentive waitstaff is not your thing and $200 for lunch I'd skip this spot. We went because it had reviews for amazing beef Wellington and my husband hadn't had any in decades. And we were on vacation so let's go! The food was beautifully plated and service was impeccable inside of an amazingly decorated dining room that looked like a library in a mansion. The meals themselves weren't obscenely expensive but add a glass a wine, bread (it was not included) and coffee and it put us close to $200. But it was a great experience and I had never had beef Wellington - it was melt in your mouth good. Might go again next time we come up from CT.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!
