This building was a Marsh supermarket years ago and is now an international market with several unique vendors inside. Batman Grill is in the front corner of the building where the grocery used to have a deli. It's not a fancy spot but there's a lot of natural light and it was pretty quiet when we were there. The staff at Batman Grill was exceedingly nice and served us very well. Our group was large so food came out a bit slowly because we ordered A LOT of food. For me, the gyros and the chicken shawarma were the stars. The falafel was also super fresh and a great appetizer. Prices were fair and we'll be back. A note on the gyros. We had both the gyro sandwich and fries and the gyro platter at our table. The size difference was quite something. The gyro was big. That with fries was a great meal! The gyro platter was HUGE. It would have easily fed two people. I'm looking forward to ordering some carry out the next time we're feeling gyros and shawarma! read more

The food is exquisite and quite unexpected inside an international market. Rakan Batman, owner/chef, has created a Mediterranean and Syrian menu of traditional favorites, including wraps and full plate meals. The prices are incredibly reasonable. The gyro's are packed with a generous portion of meat and fresh tzatziki sauce, tomatoes and lettuce. The gyro is the best in Indy. In house, hand cut fries are crispy and delicious, covered with a blend of spices. You won't find fries this good anywhere else. I love eggplant and the fresh baba ganouj was a tasty appetizer and artfully plated. The Falafel Wrap is large with fresh falafel, tomato's, onions, pickles and spices. The wrap is served with a yummy tahini lemon sauce. Our server was friendly and attentive. Rakan visited us at our table to see how we liked our meal. He is clearly passionate about the restaurant and has a vision of franchising soon. The dining area is not upscale or fancy, but is immaculate and comfortable. Mediterranean music plays in the background. They cater. There is plenty of parking in the shared lot. I'll be a regular. Batman's serves the best Mediterranean food in town. read more

Honestly, I had two incredibly stupid reasons for visiting Batman Grill. One: The name, Batman Grill. When I learned that there was a new restaurant that sounded like it was named by my super hero-loving children, I needed to visit such a restaurant. I guess I could have asked the people at Batman Grill why they chose to name it Batman Grill. But I like that it's a mystery to me. I'll just choose to think someone really likes The Dark Knight. Two: I recently re-watched the Parker Posey movie Party Girl. A memorable part of the film is her going up to a falafel street vendor and asking, "Can I get a falafel with hot sauce, a side order of baba ganoush and a seltzer, please?" She does this a few times throughout the movie, and I really wanted to repeat this order at a restaurant that had falafel and baba ganoush. Oh, happy day! Today was the day that I got to be Mary from Party Girl and order a falafel and a side order of baba ganoush, but I subbed it with a still water and no hot sauce. So, kind of like Mary from Party Girl! My stupid reasons are what drew me to Batman, but what made me stay is the freaking food. This is some of the best Middle Eastern food that I've had in a long time, and definitely the best that I've had in Indianapolis. You guys, the food at Batman Grill is amazing, and everyone needs to eat here. Right now! I'm still full from my falafel wrap and side of baba ganoush, and I want to go back and order more. I ordered the baba ganoush for the table, and it was the perfect amount for two people. It came with a basket of warm pita. I know I keep using superlatives, but really, the baba ganoush at Batman is some of the best I've had in Indy, period. It included a couple of pickled vegetables and a pretty, dark-red sprinkle of smoked paprika. There are some days when I just feel like eating baba ganoush and pita as a meal (as one does), and this will now be my go-to baba ganoush place. Then, the falafel wrap: falafel wrapped in what tasted like lavash, with hummus, tahini and chopped vegetables, such as tomato, cucumber, pickles and lettuce. It came with a little cup of extra tahini, and I drizzled that shiz over everything. You can get the falafel with fries or not, and even though it would be going off the Party Girl script by ordering fries, I did, and I'm glad I did! The fries at Batman are way better than they need to be: slightly breaded, perfectly crisp yet also soft in all the right places. We also got the small Batman Mix Grill, which is skewers of lamb kebab, lamb kufta, shish tawook and chicken kufta, served with rice and salad. All of it -- ALL of it -- was amazing, but especially the chicken. It tasted like it was marinated in lime and herbs for hours. The rice was mostly jasmine, but had some grains that looked like they were cooked in saffron. It was a lot of food, and this dish could be shared by two people, if you wanted two light meals. You could easily order takeout at Batman, but they also have a big space with tables if you wanted to dine in. In fact, I would recommend dining in, because the service is top-notch and it's a nice dining room in which to sit and eat and relax. Lots of windows everywhere. read more

Found this place based on a great review and was to see for myself that it was delicious! My lamb and beef in shawarma was tender and the seasoned fries were hot and crispy just the way I liked them. I was warmly greeted and well taken care for my meal. I almost didn't find them until I realized the location was inside the supermarket. Ok, so they make Shawarma on a proper spit, it's well spiced and tastes great. We also had the large mixed grill and the meat was tasty. It came on a bed of rice which my kiddo was happy with. The tabbouleh was good but could've used a bit more olive oil if I am to nitpick; my mid-riff was thankful for the reduced calories though It is located within Aim-Mart... this can be a pro if you want to eat before you shop, but if you're looking for a middle-eastern date spot, you'd be disappointed. Not even sure how the food tastes but walked in and was treated as if not welcomed. Asked for the menu and got met with an eye roll pointing me to one menu on the counter clearly not easily visible. When i got my food it came with Tahini sauce but wasn't included in the bag. When i asked for the included sauce i was asked which one i wanted and after saying it was my first time here, asked if i wanted two different other sauces that didnt sound like the one included. Food was amazing with great portion sizes. This was a family friendly establishment that can accommodate large groups. I had a wonderful dinner with my family which included 2 babies (under 6 months) and 4 children under the age of 15. We also had excellent service. Highly recommend. Now it houses the future of Mediterranean cuisine in a small section of this place where one can see the beautiful landscape of what Indy offers known as Batman's Grill!!
