Nice ambience with upbeat music Dim lights, not crowded on a Friday perfect for easy conversation. Ordered the Kategna, 1 meat combo and 1 veggie combo to share for 3 which was perfect amount of good. Everything was tasty and not overly spicy.

Holy flavor!!! This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and now I'm hooked. I've now tried a few other spots and this still remains my top so far. I even love getting this food to-go. I've only tried the vegetarian platter but can't recommend this enough. So packed with textures and spices, it tickles your taste buds in all the right way. Also can't recommend the spicy Kategna enough. SO DELICIOUS. Love the chill vibe in here, great for catching up with friends. Service is awesome. Can't wait to come back! 5/5

Stopped in for their grand opening never had Ethiopian food before so I was really excited to try this new cuisine. My friend and I shared the sampler which I included a picture of and we enjoyed the different options it came with. I had the Ethiopian expresso martini which was ok, also they don't offer utensils as to keep the dining very authentic

The place looks nice however, the service was lacking. We didn't have to wait to get to our table. After we place our order, no water was served to us, we have to ask for it after a while, no napkins were given also, and the food is eaten with our hands. There's no hand sanitizer either. Based on the small quantity of food we got, it was kind of pricey. Our 1st time trying Ethiopian food so can't compare it to others but I can say the food was okay.

I was so excited to try the food. The Chick'n sandwich (lion's mane mushroom) was a 10/10. Honestly, the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. I ordered through Seamless and picked it up since I was in the area, and I'm so glad I did. The sauce was incredibly flavorful with a little spicy, tangy, and creamy balance. The bun was soft, the mushroom was full of flavor, and everything just worked together perfectly. I was actually speechless after the first bite. It was satisfying without feeling heavy, but still substantial. The pickle added the perfect bite and brightness. I got the side salad instead of fries. It looked fresh and was a great size (I haven't tried it yet), but honestly the sandwich is the star. I'm definitely coming back soon to try it with the fries.

We tried the beef empanadas and mushroom croquettes for apps, dibi senegal (grilled lamb chops with rice and plantains) and the mafe (peanut stew with beef)-- nothing was left on our plates at the end. The things that can be improved: - the service was quite chaotic- we had made this reservation days in advance and were seated and had already placed our order for appetizers (or so we thought) when the waiter regretted to inform us that we'd have to be moved to a different table. The table we were moved to was right in the middle of the restaurant but by the door and it felt like we were being bumped into all night - as it turns out, the waiter moved us but never did place our appetizer order. So we waited, and waited, and no food came. They even served a table who came in after us! We did find it super strange but figured maybe our food was taking longer? Anyway eventually the waiter realized what happened and came over to take our order for the apps and also our entree (as at this point we had been seated closer to 45 mins). He also offered us each a free drink "on the house" if we wanted as an apology for the wait. Two of the three of us took him up on the offer and ordered two mocktails. As it turns out, at the end of the night when we got the bill, both of these mocktails were added on to our bill, despite what we were told that they'd be "on the house" - my friend ordered a dish to go - which she wanted to take for her mom- and they forgot to add it to the bill or place the order so at the end of the night my friend had to leave empty handed and disappoint her mom who was very excited to try the dish. Overall: The food is phenomenal. The service can be significantly improved.

I always get a combination dinner. This time I tried the Siga Wett beef stew with Ethiopian spices - very delicious! Spicy but not too spicy. Ethiopian food can be addictive, years ago I was definitely into eating a lot of Ethiopian. New York City has some great Ethiopian. If I were a tourist here, it would be on my list under "things to try." Or at least to try once ! I also had 2 vegetarian dishes - the Shiro Wett and the Messir Wett. The Shiro was made with beans. The Mesir was made with lentils. I've had the Shiro and Mesir Watt many times before - both at Ghenet as well as other Ethiopian restaurants (Awash Ethiopian on the upper west side). I think Ghenet has some of the most flavorful dishes in the city. They don't overdo it - just the right amount of spicy hotness. Overall, my favorite dish from the combination platter was the Shiro Wett. It had a light touch of smokiness that went really well with the beans. Very filling and delicious with the injera. I wish they offered fitfit salad - the menu has Ethiopian tomato salad but there are no photos of it on the online menu. There are photos of some of the other menu items but not all. I think they'd sell more stuff if there were photos since not everyone is familiar with all of the various dishes. Just a thought.

Plenty of Injera spongy bread was available and this was a filling meal for two. Flavors and freshness were still excellent and the Ginger Soda paired well with the Ethiopian seasonings. Even though I'm used to having Ethiopian with hands, fork and knife were provided as well. We weren't asked if we wanted dessert, but we would have considered it if we had been!

We came on a rainy Saturday afternoons and there weren't many patrons dining. We went with the masala chai, mango lassi, lamb kati roll, and a ghee masala dosa with gun powder, upon recommendation. -The masala chai was perfectly blended, with sugar on the side to sweeten to one's liking. -The mango lassi was really good, but a bit thicker than I'd like; good tartness. -Lamb kati roll was really good, larger than expected. The flavours were well balanced and the paratha had a good flake to it. There was A LOT of lamb inside. -The ghee masala dosa was the shining star; it must have been 2.5, if not 3 feet long. The edges were super crispy like a chip, and the masala potato pilling was delicious If I could do it all over again, I'd only eat here and not eat ahead of time, since this was enough food to fill a party of two (maybe add in a samosa or two).
