Mae's Cafe & Bakery - This eggs Benedict was delicious!!

We were greeted by a friendly server The menu was diverse, and all the dishes seemed well curated. They serve local coffee! I had the generously portioned sweet potato and scrambled egg bowl. My husband ordered corned beef eggs Benedict with home fries. It was unfortunate that his home fries were cold and rather dried up. The server offered to bring out fresh home fries. then the front of the house manager brought our bill and discounted the tab greatly. He was very apologetic. We definitely would go back based on this customer service. Worth mentioning, there is a side entrance that is handicap accessible (the main entrance on Centre Street has steps leading up to it). But if one wanted to go to the bakery counter from that entrance, there are a few steps to get to that level.

Our beverages were there in no time flat. I ordered the avocado toast. WOW! Excellent decision! Perfect slices of avocado and tomato on toast, served with two eggs and the freshest, most beautiful fruit cup! Delicious! My son ordered the breakfast burrito with no onions, and although it did arrive with onions, he was successful in removing them. He said it was very good. Although we didn't try any, their bakery items looked mouthwatering.

Zellie’s Ice Cream - Mocha & Vanilla Swirl (w/ cinnamon crunch croissant topping)

We knew we wanted ice cream to bring home and they had pre packaged pints for what we wanted, and for the "special" that day, they created a package so we could get it back land enjoy. Super creamy vanilla, and a Vanilla graham cracker mix that was crunchy and smooth (I know, a wonderful contradiction). We try to get to Maine once a vacation season, hope we can make a detour next time and support these folks again. Pleasant and positive with a great product!

You can currently find them located in the parking lot of OystHERS Raw Bar & Bubbly. They do have a relatively small menu offerings which makes sense as they are operating in the truck. I have followed them since opening on social media and their offerings look amazing. Especially the times they have worked with fellow local business Frosty Donuts and combined their donuts with the soft serve. Lucky for us this weekend happened to be one of those times. While it was delicious I really would rather not know the calorie or sugar count that I consumed but we will just call it a weekend treat! For flavors they had vanilla and their current special which was Mocha and you could get mocha swirled with vanilla. The mocha is another example of them supporting other local businesses as well since they used coffee from a local coffee roaster from Harpswell. My wife got it swirled with vanilla and had cinnamon crunch croissant as a premium topping and it was delicious. I of course got their special donut collab that featured the mocha soft serve with Frosty's donut topped with in house cookie crumbles and Allen's Coffee Brandy caramel so yet another local collab. It was pure decadence in the best way! Do yourself a favor and try this spot for a special treat on a hot day and enjoy it by the waterfront! Not that I have tried any other ice cream spots in nearby area I will gladly return here and recommend it to anyone going to this area. Top notch soft serve and I hope they are successful and look forward to see their offerings expand.

The line up is an eclectic mix of Maine products and vendors. Whether you need a sweater (or her lamb), specialty vinegars (and recipes), or any other delicious housewarming or holiday present, the market offers a diverse array of products besides the organic produce and other goodies. We like providing them to our VRBO guests too. We do wish they would move Hootenanny's Bread to the south end of the market near Dharma Farms and Kelly Bros beef-- it would reduce the congestion from the long lines and make the "main street" of the market more enjoyable. The market moves indoors with fewer vendors in November-- being in the historic freight shed is a little more crowded but also cozy as the winter months progress. And our freezer is never without a Mainely Poultry pot pie or two, some haddock "burgers", or a Chase Farms apple pie. It's our kids (and their kids) favorite activity when they visit.

Grab yourself some totally goattly chipotle cheese, a few loaves from the Van Gogh of Dough, and some chicken legs from Maine-ly Poultry. And even if they aren't punny, pick up some fresh eggs, crab dip, squash, sage bundles for spiritual wellness, handmade candles, peppers of all kinds, shepherd's pie, heritiage pork, and the best jam ever. That's just a little bit of the selection. And if you tell the folks selling bulbs for your garden that you don't have a garden because you lead a sad life in NYC, they will offer a sympathetic, "Awwww." But my favorite thing about this market? There was a little kid trying to buy a pumpkin, and he dropped it. The nice vendor said he could still have it, but now it's a squash. I'm going to be using that dad joke for decades to come.

The staff are some of the kindest, most accommodating people in the business--the bartenders in particular are always willing to work with you to find exactly the cocktail you're in the mood for. The food is fresh and local. In particular the partnership with Bath's local butcher shines through in their meats, but there are plenty of options for vegetarians as well. They're also one of the only restaurants around where I feel confident I can bring my partner who has celiac. He's eaten here multiple times and the staff have always been understanding and able to accommodate him. The atmosphere strikes a lovely balance that feels sophisticated enough for an event or special occasion, but just as welcoming if you want to sit at the bar after work and have a French onion burger and drink.
