Seriously, one of my favorite stores in the Boothbay Harbour area. The store has a lot to offer from oils to vinegar's two sandwiches, cheese, wines, baked goods, etc.. I opted for a selection of various cookies and they were very delicious. The cookies had a little bit of softness to them, but a small crunch. You can sample oils and vinegar within the one section of the store. We love trying new oils and vinegar, especially to make a simple salad dressing. The store itself has such a cute ambience to it. You can even look out the back windows and see some of the water which really adds a special touch. The staff were amazing . They were extremely helpful to not just us as customers but other customers around. read more

There is alot of great things to say about this store, but the thing that brings me in over and over again is the Champagne Wine Vinegar. It is so versatile for making dressings and is perfect in a simple oil and vinegar mix. They have a ton of other vinegars and olive oils too. Of course, I grab a sandwich or some bread, or a cookie while there. Everything is great. It is terrific for take away lunch if you are heading out to Monhegan Island too. read more

Wonderful little store with amazing finds - cheeses, wines, breads, vinegars, oils.....it's all priced a bit higher than what I'm used to seeing - definitely tourist prices. But wonderful place if you are in the area to gather accompaniments to a meal. read more

OMG... did someone say we need a good bottle of wine? This is not a grocery selection of wine but a hand picked, well thought out selection... everything from Opus to Stags Leap, they have it... so the next time your going to a friends for dinner, stop here first... They also have excellent bake goods, a vast selection of imported cheeses and of course the place is know for it hundreds of varieties of olive oils and vinegars... We found a favorite - Owen Roe's Sinister Hand, something we would not have expected in such a small shop. I just received an order I placed and BOY am I happy I did! I had a gift certificate from a friend for quite some time and didn't know what I would use it for. I purchased the Mediterranean Flair Sampler, a bottle of Leccino Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and a bottle of Aged Pure Vermont Maple Balsamic Vinegar. We tried the Blood Orange Fused Olive Oil and Fig Balsamic with bread and also on a spinach salad - it was really amazing! I'm very pleased with my purchase and can't wait to try all the other varieties. As a plus - I placed the order on Friday afternoon and it arrived on Monday - from Maine to Texas, that's impressive. read more

I am a woman that has worked in all aspects of the food/restaurant business for over 15 years and I know that my expectations are high and small business ownership is hard: So I am finding it difficult to write this negative review even though I am very angry about the service I received at Eventide. But here goes nothing. I entered Eventide with plans to spend money. I wanted bread, cheese, olives and maybe a tasty spread or mustard of some kind. $10 for a small jar of olives is a hefty price to pay, but I'm on vacation so why not. I only saw pastries and asked an employee if they had any bread left, they said no and pointed to a sign explaining that the baker was recovering from surgery and their would be no bread available. Not exactly sound business practice, not cross training employees or at the very least out sourcing the bread that is advertised on the front of the store. So I selected two jars of olives, a box of crackers and made my way back to the cheese case. I stood there quietly and waited for one of the four employees behind the counter to serve me. One walked away and the other three continued to chat, looking at paperwork. I was briefly acknowledged by one woman who said someone would be with me momentarily, and then they continued to chat with their backs turned to me. I waited a bit longer and then realized, I'm the customer! I shouldn't have to beg to be served, either they want my business or they don't. Eventide Specialties is an inviting riot of color and taste, with something for everyone. Its owners had a vision of providing pure and tasty oils and vinegars, with an international appeal. They initially ranged in flavor from ones like Blackberry Ginger Dark Balsamic, Herbs de Provence Infused Olive Oil, to Persian Lime fused Olive Oil, to name just a few of the early line-up. To those, they added pasta in various flavors, sauces, spreads, spices, salts, peppers, sugars, pates and caviar. Soon they included exotic chocolates and cocoas, hand-made biscotti, jams, and dipping plates. Next up, there were hearth made artisan breads and a head-spinning array of delightful cheeses. Having educated their enthusiastic customers to all their available exotic tastes, how could they not make the most recent expansion into pairing fine wines with their other tempting offerings? At this time, the breath of product offerings is almost overwhelming. But the good people who had this vision are only too happy to help each and every person who arrives. A smallish shop in Boothbay Harbor but a must stop for any foodie. The selection of cheeses is not large but the quality is superb. This comes close to being the best cheese, olive oil and olives that I have tasted. I will not only definetly stop here when in Botthbay Harbor but will make a special trip. read more

I'm a chef & independent restauranteur. I thoroughly enjoyed this shop. The ladies were quite friendly & knowledgable. The wares were all of excellent quality although the end of the season is right around the corner. I bought a thick slice of a country style pâté, or terrine, of pheasant, pistachios, black figs & port wine that was more than adequate; indeed it was most excellent. It will be extremely nice when they are able to get some Greek olive oil. Not an easy task. Thanks ladies. read more

Again I can't say enough good things about Kim and her staff at eventide. They are knowledgeable about their products and very helpful with the customers. We have been coming to Boothbay for years and Kim's cooking and baking abilities are topnotch. If you are in the area and need anything from oils, balsamic, cheeses, breads, sweets or wines stop in and you will surly leave with a full bag. One of our favorite things is to stop in before I take my wife for a picnic and get everything I need, then go find a nice quiet spot and soak in the view from the Boothbay coastline. read more

Ho-hum, another tourist town with endless T-shirt shops, 'Made in China' junk souvenirs, ice cream, fried clams and another store selling overpriced Stonewall Kitchen stuff and cooking paraphernalia. WRONG! From the moment you enter Eventide, what is immediately obvious is the extreme care in design & execution of this place. Every facet is well done from decorating scheme (courtesy of Kim's partner I hear), the product lines they carry and the passion they have for what they do and what they sell. The range and curation of their vinegars and oils (as well as jams, chocolates and cheeses) shows their commitment without a lot of extraneous junk thrown in. Really, I could go on and on but the bottom line is that this place is the real deal. The energy of the place is great and the attention to detail is amazing. I can't wait to see what their wine & cheese expansion will be like (the current selection is small but fantastic). This is truly a labor of love and consciousness by Kim & Denise (?) and the energy is palpable. Do NOT miss the selection of baked goods; Kim & co. are excellent bakers. Get some excellent cheese, pate and a baguette or other loaf and grab a seat down by the water. I have no clue where my review went, so here is a replacement. Eventide is by far the best place in Boothbay. We have been summering there for years and this place is the best addition to town in generations. First, the service is unbelievable. Not only is everyone incredibly friendly, but the presentation and hand wrapping of virtually every item that you buy are a world class touch. Second, Kim is an expert in cheese and wine, not to mention olive oils and vinegars. Third, the breads and pasteries are amazing and they are the only act in town for any of this stuff. Kim, keep it up, you are what Boothbay needs and we all love what you are doing for town!! read more

I have never encountered anyone working in customer service this rude in my life! The ladies in the store blew me off when I asked for help with the olive oil, then when my husband decided to get some himself rather than waiting they were really nasty to him. When I asked where to pay 3 of them answered "over there" and when I said thank you...dead silence. So I paid $12 for a bottle of balsamic vinegar and when I tried to take out the cork the glass neck of the bottle broke off. All around bad experience: Never going back. Big waste of money! read more
