Not sure what this John person below is talking about but I've had only great experiences at Brackett's.

We're local now, so this is a year-round destination for us. In the summer it's outside in Bath's…read moreWaterfront Park (usually from late April through mid-October) and in the winter, a smaller version is in the historic Bath Freight Shed which is also home to the Maine's First Ship Museum. The line up is an eclectic mix of Maine products and vendors. Whether you need a sweater (or her lamb), specialty vinegars (and recipes), or any other delicious housewarming or holiday present, the market offers a diverse array of products besides the organic produce and other goodies. We like providing them to our VRBO guests too. We do wish they would move Hootenanny's Bread to the south end of the market near Dharma Farms and Kelly Bros beef-- it would reduce the congestion from the long lines and make the "main street" of the market more enjoyable. The market moves indoors with fewer vendors in November-- being in the historic freight shed is a little more crowded but also cozy as the winter months progress. And our freezer is never without a Mainely Poultry pot pie or two, some haddock "burgers", or a Chase Farms apple pie. It's our kids (and their kids) favorite activity when they visit.

Grab yourself some totally goattly chipotle cheese, a few loaves from the Van Gogh of Dough, and some chicken legs from Maine-ly Poultry. And even if they aren't punny, pick up some fresh eggs, crab dip, squash, sage bundles for spiritual wellness, handmade candles, peppers of all kinds, shepherd's pie, heritiage pork, and the best jam ever. That's just a little bit of the selection. And if you tell the folks selling bulbs for your garden that you don't have a garden because you lead a sad life in NYC, they will offer a sympathetic, "Awwww." But my favorite thing about this market? There was a little kid trying to buy a pumpkin, and he dropped it. The nice vendor said he could still have it, but now it's a squash. I'm going to be using that dad joke for decades to come.

Shaw's - Such a deal on a bag of chips! Glad they are on sale! Ridiculous prices, highest around anywhere

My wife and I still spend about $50 more on groceries at Shaws than Market Basket or Walmart. Shaws please listen to me, get rid of your gimmicks. I hate scouring the app looking for deals with digital coupons and I'm not the only one I'm sure. Get rid of the fab five deals and just give us the deals. It's confusing. Also stop doing must buy three and limit two this is the main things that drives me and others away from Shaws. Shaws could be a really nice grocery store to shop at if they just made a few more improvements. They are trying though and we have noticed and that gets a star bump from me.

The staff actively ignore the customers. There was one in particular yesterday who was scanning and handling meat. She had a braid of hair that was literally dragging in the ground as she was touching the cut meats. What the actual holly hell is that? Ever hear of hair nets and health standards? This will be reported. Whoever manages this store needs to be replaced. I now drive 20 minutes to another town usually, just to avoid this place. Also, why have 7 registers of you never have staff to open more than 3, even during a rush. This is a known tourist hot spot. Try planning accordingly. Low-quality employees DO make a difference.
