Even though it was rather chilly, I saw a steady stream of customers going to this ice cream shop. This is a fairly large place, with lots of tables. They even had little tables for small children. I took a peek at the cakes. Yikes! $39 for a cake! I stepped up and ordered my usual.....Two scoops of Jamoca (coffee) and Dark Rich Chocolate in a cup. The price is a bit higher at $8.19. Also, it seems like the cup is smaller. But the ice cream still had the familiar rich creamy texture. The young lady serving me was friendly and patient. I gave her a 20% tip. My son and I picked out an ice cream cake from the many in the ready-made freezer with chocolate cake and chocolate chip ice cream and whip cream frosting decorated with oreo cookies. I asked the counter person if they could write "Happy 75th B-DAY" on the cake. They said they could and asked if I wanted it red or blue writing. I chose blue. So we waited about 15 minutes for the counter person to write on the cake. It wasn't the best writing, but it was last minute, and I am grateful they were able to do it. There was no manager on duty so the staff just told us to take the cake and we would get a full refund. The solution that was emailed the next day was to give us a partial refund for their mistake. The good: I've been here dozens of times and enjoy that they have seasonal flavors, variety of ready-to-buy ice cream cakes, and lower calorie ice cream options. I got a Polar Pizza (an ice cream pizza cookie) for my niece from here and she enjoyed it. The cakes come in many different fun designs for every occasion. They even had a turkey-shaped ice cream cake for Thanksgiving and heart-shaped cakes for Valentine's day. I got a photo cake here as well for my parents wedding anniversary. The bad: I came once at 11:08 and the store was closed with no one inside. The worker ended up coming at 11:10 (when they're supposed to open at 11) and she told me it'd be about a 20 minute wait because she had to set-up and count the cash. The same cashier said she couldn't write happy birthday on the ice cream cake I got because she said her handwriting was bad and that she didn't learn to write on cakes much yet. I had to write on the cake myself and the icing they gave me was super hard and dried. It was already laying outside from overnight. I've tried coming here on multiple occasions before 11AM because I keep forgetting they open so late. I wish there were more flavor options with the ready-made-cakes. It's mostly just vanilla, chocolate, Oreo, strawberry and mint chip. You can get custom ice cream flavors for custom cakes. I asked for a plastic toy in their display shelf for my cake one time and the girl didn't have the key for it. She said they aren't for sale. They should be put away if they aren't for sale. The ice cream cakes are pricey. Most of their ice creams are sweeter than I'd like. I once ordered a birthday cake from here that I had to cancel so they refunded the money to my card. She proceeded to make them 1 at a time and after she made each one of them she had them sit on the counter as she would make the next. Not even putting them where the ice cream at to keep them cold. The picture they have advertise has hot fudge, whip cream, peanuts, and a cherry. When questioned about the whip cream was told you only get 1 topping. It was My first time visiting this store on Bernal and Santa Teresa because the store closer to my house happened to be closed. I decided to drive to this store even though it was out of my way. My family and I needed a treat to lift our spirits in light of the COVID19 shelter in place. The store was empty when I walked in as I looked over all the flavors, someone else walked in shortly after (a delivery person) and he was helped right away even though I had been there first. I was totally ignored. fyi I am a person of color. The older Asian man working the counter was very rude and combative after I spoke up and told him that I had been waiting patiently as he proceeded to make 3 shakes for the other person's delivery order. Finally the lady that was also there finished what she was doing and proceeded to help me. She apologized for my inconvenience and his behavior towards me. They weren't wearing any masks or gloves which was irresponsible during these times. This was a very uncomfortable experience for me. I deserve to be treated with respect! I do appreciate the older Asian lady for stepping up and taking care of me and being apologetic. If I could leave no stars I would. A cake was ordered from here for my brothers birthday. The cake looked hideous. Looked like my 2 year old son decorated the cake. Wasn't even the color I requested. When I spoke to the owners wife she was so rude and basically told me to leave the cake. I was having a small get together and needed the cake. The owners wife was arguing with me on the phone how unprofessional. The store associate Briana was awesome super apologetic and showed great customer service. She provided me all the informations to contact corporate. Maybe the owners should take some lessons from her. This baskin Robbins used to be great when it was owned by the Fan family. But these new owners have really ran it down. This is the second cake today that was messed up when I walked in another lady was upset about the decorating on her cake. I had a very Meh experience at this particular Baskin Robbins. My family had ordered an ice cream cake only and when picking it up the order was incorrect. The young girl at the counter was very helpful but the owner was rude as hell. When pressed about fixing the cake ( it was supposed to be topped with little ice cream sandwiches, had just oreos instead). Should be an easy fix, right? The owner goes on that the we ordered the cake incorrectly, we should be charged extra for fixing it, and that it was a hassle. Mind you this is a $55 dollar cake, we paid what was on the website. When presented with a copy of the receipt with the detailed order she huffed & puffed about rectifying the order. Sad experience. I would not have been disappointed had the girl been honest prior to purchase. We requested a "creation". She informed me they only had shark creation. We were fine with that. Until after she scooped into cups, sprinkled with sprinkles and handed to the kids with no cookie. Of course the kids dug in right away. I asked where the cookie was and she says they are out of them. She charged for the shark creation and told me I was paying for the cup container with a shark print on it. I understand where she was coming from yet I am upset she was not honest prior to purchasing. She even gave me an attitude about it even though I was very kind with my words and only expressed my disappointment in her not being upfront about what all she would not be able to provide with this particular purchase. I think I might be done going here anymore mainly because of the dishonesty and attitude I received. I believe she is lucky I was kind with my words when some parents would have ended up yelling at her for her actions.
