    Thai iced tea, yum!
    Sue S.

My friend introduced me to basil box the first week I started working downtown and since then I've introduced 3 more friends to this location! I'm so hooked on the food! I love the flavors of all the ingredients and how it's filling without being too heavy. The price is a little high for me so I can't go there all the time but... Once in a while is okay. I love how quick this location is during the lunch rush and how friendly they are. I never felt rushed, even the first time when I didn't know what to order. In may, they gave our free coupons for breakfast, the rice bun sandwich. Personally I didnt enjoy that because it was wayyy to heavy on spices for breakfast. It felt like a lunch curry on a rice bun lol. Lunch though.. Yum!!! Love the Thai iced tea too but too bad that conbo would cost me like $20! :( Oh! I love how they can do half half's, it's like I can get a bit of everything on the menu which is awesome

Tasty! Service at lunch time was quick. Love the option to mix bases (eg: 1/2 chilled noodles/ salad or brown rice etc). Ordered the shrimp and steak and both have good flavor. Also got the Thai Iced Tea, which is delicious. Not too sweet, which I like. Overall great and will return for sure!

Service is attentive, and the no-tips policy makes the experience more relaxed and enjoyable. The appetizer, a slow-cooked egg, is a standout. The confit salmon has a texture between raw and medium, tender and delicate without being dry. The dry-aged steak is juicy and flavorful, with rich fat and aroma that lingers beautifully. And they don't accept tips, which is very wallet-friendly, haha. The appetizer, the sous-vide egg, was very unique. The combination of a soft-boiled egg, cheese and corn sauce, Italian pork lard crisps, and sour dough was an explosion of flavor--a rich and complex experience in both texture and taste. The confit salmon had a texture between raw and medium-rare, not dry at all, but not as raw as sashimi. The dry-aged steak was incredibly tender and juicy! Every bite was bursting with the aroma of the fat. The six courses cost a total of 115 pence, and the servers didn't neglect the guests despite the lack of a tipping policy.

I knew from previous visits that the food and service were exceptional, but this week reinforced why this has become one of my go-to spots whenever I'm in the city. Max and Trevor behind the bar made the experience seamless from night one. Not only did they remember my name, they recalled my exact order and dietary needs every evening without hesitation. Traveling for work while maintaining a low sodium, heart healthy diet can be challenging, so finding consistency matters. I did not want to chance food remorse or uncertainty with ingredients, and they made sure my burrata and salmon were prepared perfectly each night. By night five, I was basically in a legally recognized relationship with burrata, salmon...and the guys. Sofia, who had provided exceptional service to us on a previous visit months ago, was there as well. I made a point to remind her how memorable and appreciated her hospitality had been, and it was great to see the same professionalism and warmth continue throughout the restaurant team. Five straight nights at the same restaurant says a lot on its own. Consistent food, genuinely attentive staff, and an atmosphere that makes you want to come back. Gusto 101 continues to deliver every time.

It says a lot when the nicest place that I could find in the area was a Joey's. Anyway, I sat at the bar and had a calming beverage and ordered their fish tacos. The bartender was very welcoming. All the ingredients in the dish were good, but somehow the salad and the tacos did not taste that great... the ratios were all off, a bit too much gloop and really unharmonious. A shame, because they had everything to make this a good dish! But, it's a Joey's, so my expectations are low. The place was an oasis of calm compared to the cacophony of Yonge & Dundas Square outside, so they're still getting 4 stars out of me!
