What a hidden gem. Paul and his staff are the best. We have been coming up to the vineyard to spend the day several times a year ( for years ) and every time Paul keeps adding great things. This was a great vineyard - great food - great drinks - overall we had a great experience here with our children and were really excited to come back since we have a summer home in the area. However, this new adult only policy is going to keep us from being able to go back since we vacation at our summer home with our kids - our well behaved kids btw -for every new customer they receive due to this policy there will be a ton of parents who are not going to be able to attend as a result of this. The idea that this is an oasis where parents can retreat to without their kids as they state - well personally I like going to vineyards that are inclusive of all - and places where parents can go with their friends and their kids to socialize- sometimes that's the only way parents can get together - it's always an insult when dogs are allowed in establishment over children. Definitely disappointing to have to miss out because I travel with my children to the Catskills. read more

This place is amazing! Tucked away on a back road away from it all with small town feels. There's fire pits, games, plenty of outdoor/indoor seating, live music, food (The tacos are incredible) and of course great wine. Honestly one of my favorite east coast vineyards. Wow! Came here today for the first time since before the shut down. They had a nice little set up before, with a patio and snack type food and really good wine options. During the pandemic they offered wine pick up, which we took advantage of regularly. This summer we witnessed how busy they were and finally today we saw why! They expanded the seating areas with lots of little patios and a newly enclosed room as yet to be finished-a tasting room maybe? They also expanded their menu options! We ordered the Duo Board with assorted meats and cheeses etc. as well the Pad Thai shrimp tacos-OMG!! So delicious!!! We are so close to this beautiful little gem of a location, across from a wetlands reserve with hiking and a put-in for kayaks and canoes (bring your own.) Love this place!! It's beautiful, delicious wine- they have entertainment every weekend. My one and ONLY complaint is the FOOD. We used to be able to bring our own snacks- now you can't do that and obviously if you're drinking, you tend to get a little hungry. MY sandwich was pretty good- it was the vegetarian sandwich. My husband got the chicken sausage and he said it tasted "gross" and ended up throwing most of it out. They also used to give you a free glass- now they charge you $2 deposit for the glass or you can keep it. Given the fact that the average price of a bottle of wine there is $18 (and we usually end up buying a few then buying one or two to take with us!), I think they could relax about the bringing your own food thing since they don't have many choices (they had "tacos" signs but didn't have any tacos!!) and they food isn't really that good. Otherwise, awesome place and we are so glad this is local to us!! PS- and this is for ALL wineries, not just Basha Kill. I think it's wildly inappropriate for wineries to allow people to bring their kids. It's kind of like bringing your kid to a bar! Nobody wants to sit and drink wine while other people's children are running around. The dogs are cool, though. read more

Stumbled upon this hidden gem on a trip upstate with my fiancée. Had the fortune of finding it nestled in between the trees of Wurtsboro. Beautiful, relaxing spot to hang with friends, significant others and/or family while enjoying amazing wine and delicious bites. Especially love the addition of cocktails as well. I don't find many wineries that do this. We shared a bottle and charcuterie board while listening to a live acoustic guitar player - nice escape from the suburbs of NJ. Recommend! For those of us that are sick and tired of the Long Island vineyards that we have all visited a million times, Bashakill Vineyards is your break from the norm. I came across Bashakill Vineyards last spring while taking a day trip away from the city that never sleeps and searching for some tranquility. I found just that when I stumbled upon a gorgeous vineyard sitting within a secret garden like setting. Bashakill Vineyards not only provides a beautiful environment to relax and unwind , they also have FANTASTIC WINE! I have never fell in love with wine like I have with their Hummingbird...there are no words to describe how fantastic it is. Another favorite of mine was their limited time LAVENDER WINE....holy cow what a treat that was! As Autumn is upon us I HIGHLY recommend taking the road less traveled, steering clear of the Long Island vineyards, and taking a trip up to Bashakill vineyards. They have live music every weekend, a beautiful outdoor fireplace, and delicious food via an outside vendor. Loved this place!! No cover and you can taste 4 wines for free before buying the first glass. I was so indecisive i was offered more than 4 to taste. Super friendly and nice!! You keep the wine glass ( they charge $2 for it but that's ok!) and each glass of wine was $7. Live music, puppies, ping pong, trees and a fountain made this a super peaceful place to just hang out and kick back. They also offer some cheese and meat boards. Free wine tasting for up to 4 wines. Cool bottles that you can reuse for olive oil etc...it was a cold blustery and rainy Sunday. There is an indoor and an outdoor tasting bar and the wood stove were going whichever area you decided to go. It was actually crowded as well and although there are plenty of seating outside, there wasn't much covered and the heaters weren't going if you didn't count the one woodstove.. the atmosphere and beautiful views even for the gloomy day made up for everything. We didn't know you could bring your foods and buy a bottle or glass there, but they had on site catering and served a burger or cheese platter. If they are serving the burger GET IT! It was grilled right there outside and it was juicy and no preformed burger. Went great with the bottle of red we got. My only complaints: parking was horrible and more signage to guide visitors. read more

I left a review on the diner in Wurtsboro and it popped up to review another place and am I glad it chose the vineyard! I never even though to review this place. I love the atmosphere here, it's kid friendly, dog friendly, guitar friendly, and all around a very enjoyable experience. You used to be able to bring food in now you have to buy it, but no complaints because the tacos this passed summer were delicious. Pair it with a nice wine or a mixed drink, live music, and games and you have a perfect summer day. Brought my parents here and they loved it. Whenever we travel, we visit a local winery. Basha Kill was one of the best! After a free wine tasting, we bought a really nice riesling and had it together with watermelon while enjoying absolutely amazing views of the water and hills, and people disappearing on their boats far far away... Awesome local vineyard and winery with great outdoor seating with good coverage from the sun thanks to the pine trees. They even have live music! I'm glad there is complimentary wine tasting (up to 4 wines), making the decision on what glass to have a lot easier. They also have non-alcoholic drinks (the peach iced tea is fantastic), and great food (we tried the yellowfin tuna tacos, yum!!). We arrived close to when they opened (12pm) on Saturday, and it started to get pretty crowded around 2-3pm. Went here today for a tasting. While the taster didn't tell us a great deal about the wines, the place was really nice. Quiet and several nice places to just sit back and enjoy a bottle of wine. They had a band that played and unfortunately they were a bit loud and kind of ruined the ambience of the setting. Someone playing the guitar would have been a better choice. But it was an enjoyable experience. It would also be lovely in the fall. read more

Very cool vineyard. one of our favs. Place is tucked away nice and quiet. Usually has acoustic entertainment. The wines are awesome. The owners/winemakers are very nice people. You can bring your own food and have an amazing picnic as you sit on their back property under the trees near the fountail and just take it all in while enjoying delicious wines at your leisure. Depending on where you live it might be a drive but if your Hudson Valley then you have no excuse and should treat yourself. read more

This place is great! The vibe is very relaxing, and the wine and beers to taste are very pleasant. The view was not as grand as I expected based on some of the reviews, but still nice. The owner is extremely welcoming. I happened to drive by on a Monday after being there on Sunday, not realizing it was closed. He was working, but saw me at the gate and let me come in to buy a bottle of wine. I especially enjoyed hearing the story of how he built the place from scratch. Hats off to his success! read more
