I really wanted to love this little winery; you can tell that the owner is very hands on and works very hard. Rarely have I ever seen the owner do the tastings as well as all the other aspects of the winemaking process. Richard, the owner, is extremely nice and very knowledgeable. It is certainly worth the trip just to meet him. They offer a variety of reds and whites, mostly on the dry side, but some sweet as well. The wines are certainly good, as we did take home a bottle of the Cayuga, but most of them don't really stand out much at all. The tasting room itself could use a bit of an update as well. Wood paneling from the 70's, and s propane tank heater keeping it all warm. Since this appears to be an office space above a garage I question the safety of the heater... it was certainly a unique winery, and I do wish the owner the best of luck, but sadly I doubt that I would return.

Out of NYC for a one day city escape in New Paltz, NY for joie de vivre, French for exuberant…read moreenjoyment of life, translated as "joy of living" or "zest for life." My day of a small party of three was certainty joie de vivre described an enthusiastic appreciation of everyday experience, including good food, friendship, conversation, art, leisure, beauty, and simple pleasures. The weather was mildly brisk cloudy with some sun emitted in NYS's Hudson Valley region. The grounds are beautiful scenic nature landscape and appears well maintained. I wish there was a willow tree which adds to the perfect setting of a picturesque landscape. I have a predilection for willow trees. Robibero Winery is open 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and part of Shawangunk Wine Trail of NYS's Hudson Valley region. Other activities/ events available at select dates or seasons are grape stomping, bon fire pit, gazebo, and line dancing night. My party visited during their version of the Italian San Gennaro Festival with live entertainment. Food is available on the premise. Restroom facility is available on the premise. My party's primary visit was winery crawl. Robibero was our first stop. There is guided tasting featuring a selection of Robibero wines where it is $22.00 per person with a casino inspired coin labelled "RNY." Tastings are $22.00 per person and include a selection of four (4) wines. It is walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis with multiple tasting bars to minimize wait which was very crowded at the tasting bar. Wine bottles are available for purchase. Kevin, our server greeted with a pleasant, relaxed and calm disposition who was very informative, patient and attentive taking the time to serve and no scowl face emitted. I was indecisive for my selection, but Kevin served other parties while I made my selection. My selection is two white and two red. He permitted me to take a lot of photos of each respective bottle with my glass as props, without question and without a scowl face which are posted to this review. Tasting menu are widely available at the tasting bar counter for review. Kevin explained the grape, dry or semi-dry, including suggested food pairings and respectfully refers female customers as "my lady." Oh! I was satisfied with my experience. I sincerely hope Kevin continues his employment indefinitely. Robibero also carries Mead, a sweet honey wine. I am utterly bewildered and discontent with the high extortionate tasting price of $22.00 which I remember pre-pandemic era when tasting price was either $6.00 or $10.00. Oh! Let it go, it is officially a relic of the past. I suffer from the effects of this financial trauma. Wine tastings industry standard price currently in 2026 era is averaged $18.00 to $25.00 per person for four (4) or seldom five (5) wines due to the high extortionate rising operational costs, expenses, NYS minimum wage for staff, and including explosive persistent inflation factors to sustain a business in the current economic environment. Oh! Nevertheless, with acquiesce I would pay such high extortionate tasting price rather than wineries permanently close their business. Traminette 2024 (white) Floral aroma of orange blossoms and white flowers. Lychee and Asian pear fruity notes. It is a good white wine. New Yorkie Rosé 2025 (white) This is a blend of 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, whole cluster press. White peach with touch of acidity. 0% residual sugar. Dry wine. Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 (red) Blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot. Light, fruity, notes of plum and red berries. Aged for two years in French oak. I like this red wine and actually taste the fruity plum and red berries. The Stray 2021 (red) 100% Estate Cabernet Franc aged for eighteen months in French oak. Dark fruit, low acidity and medium finish. The name originated from the narrative of a stray dog who the owner found and later adopted. I surely enjoyed this red wine. I prefer low acidity wines with either medium, long or superior finish. Joie de vivre achieved. Cabernet Franc 2025 (white) 100% Cabernet Franc aged for ten months inside concrete egg. Strong mineral characteristics with strong cranberry and plum notes. I thought it was rather strong content. Estate Vidal Blanc 2025 (white) Notes of citrus, limestone, medium acidity in crisp finish. It is a good white wine in citrus flavor.

Our day started with a Chinese tea ceremony in the barn and then a catered lunch. About 6:30pm, the ceremony with a live music started followed by passed hors d'oeuvre, fresh oysters, and wood fired pizza. The wood fired pizza was very delicious and I enjoyed the blackened shrimp and the arancini. I tried the cider and the rosé, but they were too dry for my taste. Then at 7:45pm, we went into the reception pavilion. The menu consisted of a salad as first course, a duet plate of salmon and beef short rib for entree, and dessert. The summer citrus salmon with the multi grain pilaf was very good. After first dance, father and daughter dance, mother and son dance, and speeches, the DJ told us to step outside. After a few minutes, the sky exploded with light. It was a beautiful fireworks display from the hillside. The bathrooms were stocked with essentials in the toiletry baskets. Red Maple Vineyard offers a rustic barn and reception pavilion, massive green grounds, and a beautiful garden.

During the summer, they also feature food trucks--including PBF, one of our favorite local restaurants from Montgomery--and an ice cream truck that our daughter always looks forward to. What really makes this place special is that it's truly family-friendly. There are lawn games for the kids, and our daughter always has a great time meeting new friends while we relax and enjoy the scenery. It's been incredible to watch how much they've grown and expanded over the years. As someone who lives nearby, it's nice to see a local place become such a popular destination. Today, they offer seasonal events, live music, lawn games, expanded tasting spaces, food trucks, and even the Tree House experience, which I've done a couple of times and really enjoyed. The ciders are consistently delicious, and the food trucks always offer great options. My favorite time to visit is definitely the fall. Sitting by the fire pits with a fresh cider and warm cider doughnuts is hard to beat. That said, weekends can get extremely busy, so I usually recommend visiting during the week if you want a more relaxed experience. The only downside, in my opinion, is that it's become very crowded. When the tour buses arrive, the atmosphere can start to feel more like a tourist attraction than the laid-back orchard it once was. I think limiting attendance a bit during peak times would create a more enjoyable experience for everyone. I'm also not a big fan of having to rent the sidelines, as it adds to that commercialized feel instead of the relaxed winery atmosphere that many people are looking for. Overall, it's still one of my favorite places to gather with friends and family. The beautiful setting, excellent ciders, seasonal activities, and welcoming atmosphere keep us coming back year after year.

We started off by having some apple cider donuts and apple cider, then opted to do pick-your-own apples and flowers. Depending on when you visit, there are specific apples that are in season and there were PLENTY of apples to choose from. Our son loved walking around the trees and biting the apple right off the branch! I say, My companion…read moreand I decided to venture up to America's Oldest Winery and we are rather pleased that we did! The Grounds are a series of mostly nineteenth and 20th century buildings which were improved and expanded upon as the winery's business and clientele grew. The tour and tasting were incredibly affordable at only $25 per-person and definitely worth the cost with an average of 5 glasses of wine and an hour long tour. That said, a couple of things could be improved upon. Firstly, our guide could have spoken much louder as we had a large group and certain factoids were difficult to hear. Secondly, the majority of the tour takes place underground in their active and historic cellars which, sadly, smell quite strongly of mold. Finally, the wine tasting was conducted without a glass of water to cleanse our palates. Instead, we were provided with a rather skint packet of oyster crackers. Despite the few shortcomings; the grounds and above-ground areas are well-organized, clean, and well-maintaned. The staff are courteous and the wines sampled were excellent, I even purchased a few bottles to take home. I hope to return another time when there are different wines in rotation! Good show!
