My husband and I attended a soft opening party at Barzar Eatery last Sunday. I wasn't sure what to expect in a Vacaville restaurant in a small mall next to an Asian market. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with high ceilings, which makes the space more comfortable. We were greeted by Ying, co-owner, and later met Sam, the chef, and also a co-owner. Both had such passion and pride when they spoke to us. We had a sampling of at least 8 dishes on their soft opening meal. Everything cooked with the freshest and best ingredients. The best Hainanese chicken and satays in the Bay Area. The photos of the food will entice your taste buds. Everything was exquisitely prepared and fragrant. We will definitely return soon and recommend this hidden gem to family and friends. This is a great place to stop for a delicious meal on your way to Reno/Tahoe (just off 80 freeway) or just shopping at the outlets. The prices are very reasonable too. read more

It's a unique experience when I want to write a review WHILE eating somewhere but this place rocks! My son and I popped in for lunch and are having Laksa noodle soup and Nasi Goreng. I'm impressed, great flavors that bring back early travels to Indonesia. We both gravitated to comfort dishes and these dishes delivered. Warming flavors, addictive spicing and generous portions. Finally there's a Singaporean / Indonesian restaurant close by. It's hard to find a good Singaporean or Indonesian restaurant in the bay area. This place is legit. We ordered chicken satay, pork satay, laksa noodle, nasi goreng and sayur campur goreng belacan. All the dishes are good. Nasi goreng is on the milder side in terms of flavor. My favorite would be pork satay and sayur campur goreng belacan. These are packed with flavors. If you're used to fermented paste and sauce in southeast Asian food, sayur campur goreng belacan is not something to be missed. Overall, my party was happy with the dishes we got. We cannot wait to go back and try other dishes on the menu, especially ayam goreng and beef rendang. Finally it's open in the neighborhood! I was so excited about this place as I am Indonesian who was born, grew up in Java and currently lives in Vacaville. When we stepped in, we got a warm welcome and directly got seated in a comfortable corner. This place is spacious than it looked from the outside. I ordered the beef fried rice for my husband and soto madura for me and kids. The fried rice was delicious. It's flavorful, different style of nasi goreng that i used to eat, regardless, it's yummy! The soto's portion was big (enough for 2) it's packed with beef chunks, tripes, tofus, beansprouts (and beef balls!). I believe it's not the original style of soto madura that I used to eat back in java, but again, it's also delish! We also tried the pork satay with peanut sauce! Happy tummy happy me. My friend and her son sit next to our table and they said the laksa was good! Love the warm and friendly service. Barzar is located next to County Square, the only asian supermarket in Vacaville. So it's a very nice addition for the locals to find good food before or after the grocery shopping, or simply for those who are around the area and craving for south east asian food other than Thai or Viet. This place is a gem. The food was delicious, service was very friendly and the place was very clean. I ordered the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce, the Spring Rolls, Spring Rolls and the Hainanese Chicken. All were so delicious. The order came with homemade fried Shrimp Chips. That's was good. Very crunchy with just the right amount of shrimp flavor, not too over whelming, but not bland. The chicken satay was juicy and so flavorful. I think it's lemongrass marinade that I love, but not for all. The peanut sauce complemented the chicken. Note that this isn't your typically Thai peanut sauce. It's different but goes really well with the chicken satay. The spring rolls and wontons were good. It didn't wow me....though it was very well done and not too oily which was good. And then we have the long awaited hainanese chicken. I have been looking for this for a while. Hard to find in the area, but Barzar did it. It was a bit on the cold side which I wasn't expected (I expected room temp) but the chicken was so smooth, the rice was really good, peanuts were a good accent and the ginger scallion oil just brought the dish to a whole new level. Think this is a first for me. Two places, two days in a row that I can honestly give five star reviews for. Yesterday was a Vietnamese restaurant with one of my two favorite soups, Bun Bo Hue. Today is the soup that's tied with BBH. Laksa! I had some business to take care of in Vacaville and decided to see if there's any places that serve Laksa in the area. Found this brand new restaurant here on Yelp. And so glad I did! Found me some very good Laksa with owners who will tweak it towards your taste. I'm not a big seafood fan and they happily substituted chicken for me. The flavor was outstanding although just not quite spicy enough but they told me next time let them know and they'll put a little more heat in it. The restaurant itself is impeccably clean and I can't say enough about the friendly accommodating attitude they give. Just for the welcoming you like you're family is enough to make me go back again, and again, and again!! If you've never had Laksa, nows your chance. Highly recommend Barzar Eatery!! read more

Great find in Vacaville. Convenient to I80. We tried shrimp mee goreng and laksa. Both were very tasty, though the first time the laksa noodles were thin glass noodles, while the second time was a much more traditional thicker noodle. Be sure to order the thicker noodle. We were greeted very warmly and seated right away. It is so lovely decorated inside and the menu seems to offer truly unique food to Vacaville. I know this restaurant recent opened and is probably still refining its dishes so I'm hoping this comes off as constructive. The pork satay was strange to eat. It was saturated in dried herbs, perhaps it was dried thyme or fennel, but the herbs made eating it difficult because they were getting stuck in my mouth as if it didn't belong. The noodle dish with prawns was okay but it was lacking in presentation and the flavor was not quite balanced. Perhaps it needed more vegetables or the sauce needed something extra. The best was the rangoons, however I felt they were under filled and mostly consisted of the fried dough on the outside. Lastly the peanut sauce was disappointing as it somehow did not taste peanut-y enough or fresh. I hope this restaurant changes some things because it's very unique to vacaville read more

Finally, another good restaurant to go to in Vacaville! I ordered the Pork Satay, soto ayem chicken, beef rendang, and pangsit goreng for takeout. They were all very delicious! The pork satay reminded me of the night markets in Singapore, super tasty and the pork was very tender.
