My tree in backyard is too close to my house and some branches are covered the roof that I decided to remove it. I used Yelp and made appointments with three companies for estimation. First one didn't show up. Second one changed appointment twice that I don't bother to deal with it. Bartlett came to my house on time and made estimation to cut the tree. Due to their busy schedule in summer time that Daniel promised me to cut the tree in two weeks. The crew members came on time at that day and used three hours to remove and clean up. To be clear, I didn't hire Bartlett, but our neighbor did because of a tree in their yard that had begun leaning dangerously toward collapsing on ours. I had been a loyal customer of Bartlett for many years. Have gone through several Arborist Reps in that time due to turnover. In the past, I had good experiences. But recently, I have not been satisfied. Even though Bartlett will quote individual projects, they will not give you a discount if you combine services that save them money by economizing trips, gas, labor, set up, etc. When I question how they quote, they become defensive and will not provide an itemized breakdown of product, labor, etc. Instead, they quote a flat price and are unwilling to explain how they calculated their quote. A cascade of several emails caused me to question their integrity, quoting and pricing policies and treatment of a loyal long-term customer. When I escalated the issue to management, I was brushed off. They were not interested in even discussing the issue when I was willing to hear them out and be reasonable. I don't know if their growth over the years has caused them to be dismissive, but that was my sense. I prefer to work with local companies who appreciate a loyal customer. This company is not local. They are out of CT and describe themselves as international. I also could not find them licensed and bonded with WA State Labor and Industries. I will be looking for a local replacement for my needs going forward. read more

When I called a few weeks ago the lady said to send an email and describe the details of services anticipated. Because it involves planning, it's a development related rather than a simple tree removal. So I did after a few days. Then there is no response and I went for a trip. Coming back and called again and she asked me which office I am calling about - well, there is only ONE office on their website and that' s in Lynnwood. She sounds like that they have multiple offices which is misleading. And the funny thing is that she said their company which has only one Lynnwood office, does not serve Arlington in Snohomish county. What a waste of my time. My pear tree developed rust. I contacted Bartlett and they came out & looked the tree over and provided me with an estimate. They have been treating the tree for approx 9 mos. This past summer there were significantly less rust spots on the leaves. My tree also produced fruit; it didn't produce any fruit the last two years. (They are also treating my neighbors pear tree and that tree is also doing much better.) I found the person who provided the estimate to be knowledgeable and courteous. I called Bartlett a few weeks ago for an estimate on our yard. Long story short they have teamed up with another company and now even larger. well, I had a gentlemen come out who seemed annoyed that we had, had our trees serviced by another company and we need an estimate for our cedar tree that may need to be taken out. The sales person was arrogant to say the least and wanted me to take out the rest of my bushes, in which two other trained arborists said trim to a certain point and you can maintain them. Bartlet, butted their own opinion into it. Long story short they want $8k to remove a tree. Other companies are quoting $3k-$5k When you are rude, arrogant and not even a licensed arborist and it shows you only care about the dollar sign. You will not have my business. read more

Cory Fitzpatrick is an ISA certified arborist, an ATCIA certified tree safety professional and the manager of Bartlett Tree Experts in Kenmore, WA. He identified "at risk" trees and his company has cared for our "urban forest" yard for the past three years. To maintain safety to the house and property, some tall firs needed to be removed. A few other trees were treated to maintain optimal health. Recently, Cory's company did a huge pruning job (tall laurels, etc.) and, under Cory's direction, his crew removed the "at risk" branches that were hanging over the side yard. Since we began working with Cory, every single job has been done with the utmost care. Also, Cory will not remove or touch a tree if it does not need any work. Initial assessment, quote and response were all great. Removal of 3 trees was done well and no debris left about. The big issue was that I clearly stated that pruning of other trees (neighbors overhanging my back yard) was only to go to my fence line. This was clearly stated in the proposal also. Yet, I come home to an irate neighbor because they climbed her trees and were cutting to the trunk - which she had not given me permission to do. Luckily my neighbor was at home and told them to stop (the Bartlett guys said "we don't care about the property line, that's not our concern" my security camera picked this up). When I received a call from Bartletts to ask how everything went, I explained the horrible and potentially litigious situation that Bartlett Trees had put me in. The lady said she'd get my arborist rep to contact me. Nothing happened, I only received the invoice. Modifying and updating a star.. within 12 hours of posting this review, I received a call to discuss my experience (great response times). As we talked through it, it became clear that there was an assumption that for the health of the branches, that they would have to be cut back to the trunk(not to the fence line). Had this been explained at the time, I would have realized that there was no point in having them prune those branches at all (no permission to go beyond fence line). Lesson learned, but I do appreciate that they took the time to revisit the issues and offered to help if they could . read more

Bartlett out-bid two other companies to work on my two front yard split-trunk 85' Deodar Cedars. This week's heavy wet snows tested the quality of their work. Trees branches fell all over Seattle on cars, sidewalks and houses. I just lost one small branch with no damage caused. I've been meaning to YELP Bartlett for a month now -- the bucket truck crew they sent out was super friendly, competent and methodical in safety. I was very impressed. Pleased customer. I did not receive a follow-up bid from Bartlett Tree Experts after my initial meeting with an arborist representative. Bartlett Tree Experts were even recommended to me by another tree business. An arborist came to my home on January 23, 2019, by appointment, to discuss care for our two Douglas firs in our front yard. The arborist representative willingly looked around our property and gave advice about caring for other trees as well. He said he would provide a bid within a week for pruning and care costs for the two Douglas firs. It is past mid-February now, and I did not receive a follow-up bid from this business. We weren't going to have our trees trimmed this year, but Mother Nature had her own plans; the big snow storm in February caused a lot of large, broken limps on several of our trees that needed to be removed. Jordan Harris from Bartlett came to give an estimate - Jordan was very thorough in evaluating our situation and provided us with a written proposal that same afternoon. Given the size of the work to be done, we thought it was a fair estimate. The work was scheduled for two days, and the crews did a professional job on all of our trees, but especially while removing three very large oak limbs from over our roof. From start to finish their attitude was fantastic, and they were careful not to damage the perennials that are just now starting to poke above ground, and the clean-up afterwards was better than we expected. After several unsuccessful attempts to hire another tree service this year (actually two other tree services) to remove a dangerously dead tree from my property, I remembered that Bartlett Tree Service had come to the rescue years ago when a tree fell on my house during a snow storm. Sure enough I called and they came through again. The person on the phone was extremely helpful and polite. I received an email with a detailed quote on the day I was told someone would be looking at my tree. Scheduling the removal of this tree was easily done and they accomplished the work today as promised. Noticed the very top of one of our Douglas Fir trees was dying. Called one arborist who said we should cut it and the neighboring trees down. Contacted Bartlett who came out, took several samples of the dead area as well as of the soil and found they were not getting enough water. What a relief...as we love those trees. Called Bartlett several weeks ago for an estimate on a mountain ash removal. They scheduled someone to come by in about a week or so, which they did. Daniel came out, spent about 15 minutes discussing the tree and said he would consult with his colleagues on my tree situation. It's been a week to date with no followup. I sent him an email on Saturday and now, Tuesday, no reply. Consequently I have contacted another tree service to bid on the job. Bartlett used to be Seattle Tree Preservation until Bartlett bought them out. I used STP for years and was always happy with their work, plus owner John Hushagen was a great guy. Sorry that he retired because no followup on my tree situation does not bode well for Bartlett, IMHO. If they are too busy to do my job, then they should write me and say so. read more

Bartlett Tree Experts have gone above and beyond in EVERY way to provide the most professional work and tree care I could imagine. They've worked on our large red cedar twice and both times I've been totally blown away by the crew and service. We have been working with the city to have our new power line dropped through the tree (a very tricky project requiring approval from the city) and Bartlett has done a phenomenal job of ensuring that only the necessary branches/leaders were cut, the tree was left un-wounded and without a large hole in the middle of it.
