If you want to *care* for your trees and know whether they are *actually* safe or not, my experience is these folks are your only option... and they're a fantastic one that combines extensive tree knowledge with cutting-edge diagnostic technology. A distinguishing feature is: they don't do any of the tree cutting or removing. So, they don't have the financial incentive (i.e., conflict of interests) to push for clear cutting everything in sight. We made the mistake of hiring a conflicted arborist and he claimed all of the giant trees surrounding our house were about to fall and needed to come down. Tree Solutions' second opinion was they were all perfectly healthy and nothing needed to be done. That was 8 years ago and none of the trees have given us trouble. We had a great experience with Tree Solutions. We were looking specifically for a certified arborists to assess our trees and provide a care plan. Katie came out and checked the trees and found items we didn't even notice before. She provided a nice write up of the pruning we would require, along with recommended work on our Willow tree. Tree Solutions did an excellent job with an assessment of a large tree on our property and provided sound recommendations for pruning. Communication with them was great from start to finish, they were on time, and very open and detailed about their estimates and costs. We also had them do a formal tree valuation, and their reports were well written and detailed, and completed in a very timely manner. They are highly respected in this field and have a good reputation from what I have heard from other arborists who came out to bid for the work. I am most impressed by the follow up in our case after they completed their billed work. Absolutely amazing experience. My mother has a house in Seattle and was preparing to do an addition when the city required an arborist report. I would avoid Scott Baker and this company for fear of your wallet and common sense. I hired Tree Solutions to conduct 2 tree surveys on two differnet single family house lots on Queen Anne, recieved their invoices (both of which were higher then their initial estimates) and paid them in full - about $450 for one and $400 for the other. When I received the reports, one of them was missing a couple large trees important to the city's review of the site, so I called them back to have them correct the oversight. After I got the revised report back, a month later I also got another invoice in the mail charging me for the 15 minute phone call with Scott, 20 minutes to correct and re-send their own report and another 15 minute charge for allegedly sending along another memo regarding mulching which they never sent. When I got the second invoice I called them up to talk to them about it but they wouldn't return my calls, so I sent them a letter that the invoice wasn't valid. I never heard anything from them for a year and half, and then -- literally a year and a half later -- started receiving harrassing phone calls from a collections agency in Florida and a collections letter for the $106 dollar invoice. $106, bunk claims, no communication for 18 months and now I'm in a collections action and having to dispute the charge in a small claims court -- unbeliveable. Unimpressive 'work' and a staggering bill. I asked the office gal what the work i needed costs and she seemed not to be able to answer. Said it would all be reviewed on site so i can decide how to proceed. NOT. She never mentioned nor sent me a copy of their contract with that info in it --saw that when they got here. They completely missed a very significant defect in my tree... inches from where they did two different tasks. I hired them to evaluate one tree but every time i went out Scott Baker was standing at opposite end of my (large) yard looking at another tree. His report is on that tree and some trees in my neighbor's yards. What? They seem to have multiple levels of reviewing their reports, also never mentioned--the time is all billable (they are all alleged to be certified arborists so why does their work need so much review, and why can't their staff explain this process?). Complete waste of time. I feel like i've been conned. read more

We had Tree Solutions do a safety evaluation of several large trees close to our house. We chose them because they do not cut down trees for a living and we knew we would get an unbiased opinion about how we should care for our trees. They did a very good job identifying how we should care for our trees and let us know which ones posed risks to our home. I wondered how the Douglas Fir trees in my backyard would continue to stand up to the winter storms. Scott Baker came out as scheduled to do a risk assessment of the trees' health and sustainability. He was very efficient with his time. He is a real teacher and seems to enjoy answering questions and educating about tree science. He has a strong command of his subject and was dedicated to making an objective evaluation. He is neither a "tree hugger" nor a "logger". He understood the homeowner's perspective. I have used the services of Tree Solutions twice - the first time in 2009, and again in October 2016, and was very satisfied on both occasions. Both appointments were for the purpose of evaluating the overall health of large trees on my property, one a Douglas Fir, and the other a Blue Atlas Cedar, the latter experiencing a major limb failure which prompted the first call in 2009. These assessments were also for the purpose of allaying any fears on the part of my neighbors about the potential of either of these trees being compromised or toppling in a windstorm. The services of Tree Solutions do not come cheap, but the credentials, knowledge, and experience of the staff tells one why. They are very good at informing clients, up front, of their fee schedule (based on the work to be performed, as well as who does the assessment), so the client can select what work he/she wants performed, as well as who at Tree Solutions he would like to do the actual work. In 2009, Scott Baker, company founder, performed the assessment on the Cedar. Scott is a no-nonsense person who does not mince words, but he knows his business and provided me with a summary report of the tree's overall health and risk assessment. Based on his recommendations for maintenance of the tree, I hired a tree pruning company to execute that work. My neighbors were happy, and over the ensuing six years, the tree has continued to heal from its 2009 wound and gotten stronger. Last year, Tree Solutions associate Katherine Taylor performed the follow-up assessment of the Cedar, as well as a first assessment of the Douglas Fir. Katherine is very professional, providing information about both trees that was very useful, both to me and to my neighbors. At my request, she provided a four-page final memo report, including pictures with suggested points of pruning, detailing the current health of the trees. The price for her time and the report was $285. Considering the credentials of Tree Solutions staff, the services performed, including the offer of assistance with any follow-up questions after receiving the final assessment report, I consider their price to be more than fair, and, for me and my neighbors' peace of mind, money well spent. read more

Tree Solutions Inc, was hired based upon a referral from my architect for an arborist report on a property that I am developing. Prior to their arrival, we cut a hedge down between our property and the neighbors, because it had not been maintained in thirty years and its branches were touching the neighboring property. The arborist report came back with several pictures and references to the shrub as if it were a tree, and then the arborist tried to categorize it as 'significant', which is not one of the definitions with the city. The city has 'exceptional' designations of protected trees and this was not one of them. After my and the architects protests, the company resent the report with pictures of the cut down shrub still included, in order to demonstrate what they called 'site conditions' and then they had the balls to try to bill for the revision. I've referred the matter to my attorney. Don't bother hiring them, they are more invested in making a political statement than doing their jobs within the definition of the law. read more
