This is my 1st year with Bartlett, and I have never used a tree service before. I feel fortunate to have such a positive experience right out the door. The entire crew was a pleasure to work with and performed a large scope of tasks expertly, including limb removal of a 150 year-old tree that extended over our roof line. I was so disgusted and disappointed with the flies that had taken over my yard and gardens and my ability to enjoy them. Bartlett is the best! I have 15 older trees in my yard at my home in Chicago, and it had been a daunting task to keep them healthy and alive until I met Bartlett Trees. They took soil samples and analyzed the disease in some of the trees. They had the knowledge and skill to put together an affordable plan of care and executed it well. The Arborist who came to our property was very knowledgable. That said, trying to get anything scheduled in a timely manner was very difficult with this company. I first engaged with them via email in early September and the back & forth is still on-going for a seemingly simple job. There is lack of follow-up on email communications with open loops lasting 1+ weeks easily. Nothing moves along unless I re-engage. In summary, very knowledgeable but scheduling and customer service are a problem. read more

This review is based strictly on price. Bartlett gave us the highest quote for our job, a whopping $5,000. Another company quoted $1,025 for the same job. We don't automatically accept the lowest bid, but we felt good about a company that offered to do the job for as little as $750; we hired them and were pleased with the excellent job they did--for a mere 15% of what Bartlett wanted. But you shouldn't necessarily reject Bartlett because of this single instance. Just make sure you get several quotes and do your homework. read more

I had a big old tree in my yard which was in bad shape. Phil came out and looked at the tree and sent me a quote for the work. We discussed another area that I wanted cleaned out and also replacement trees for both places. Phil got back to me the same day with a revised quote for all the work. The crew came and took down the trees and ground the stumps. They were on time and cleaned up the area when they were done. I'm waiting for new trees to be available and then they will come back and plant them. I would recommend their company to anyone who needs this type of work done. read more

Professional. Seamless. Positive. Bartlett Tree Experts were wonderful to work with, from start to finish. We scheduled a quote appointment with a courteous staff member, Kathy, and were greeted onsite by a very professional Arborist Representative, Erik, who paid attention to detail as we walked through the yard and followed up with a quote within a matter of an hour or two. They worked to accommodate our request for an ASAP trim, pulled all required permits free of charge, arrived on time, did a walk through with a knowledgeable crew, and consulted with me throughout the trimming when necessary. During our post-job walk through, the arborist climbers explained their work and made sure I was satisfied before they left (our yard in perfectly clean condition). The team takes the shape of the canopy, view from the house, and impact on the growth of the trees into consideration verses simply hacking away like other tree trimmers do. We had a great experience with Bartlett. Erik and his crew helped us remove a Birch tree and trim the other one. They took care of everything including permit issue and safety issue as our trees are located close to the sidewalk. They also cleaned the site right afterwards. They were thoughtful in checking our opinion before and during the work, careful not to damage other plants as they trimmed the trees and bushes on our site, and very thorough in cleaning up when done. We actually "tracked down" the arborist, Phil, after he left another tree service to move Bartlett. Although it may sound silly, he actually seems to know and care about our trees. Bartlett provides great tree-trimming service! Our large backyard silver maple was out-of-control: scraping against a neighbor's house, threatening power lines, dropping dead branches everywhere. After a visit from Bartlett last month, it's trimmed, shaped, and ready for Spring! Bartlett also pulled the necessary permit to remove a lopsided, low branch from a parkway tree, shaped my prize row of European Beeches, and carefully trimmed a Cedar tree without disturbing a squirrel nest. I called Bartlett Tree on September 23. They told me they would call me back to schedule an appointment. After several days delay, I finally called again and they scheduled a visit with Erik the arborist for October 14. I emailed photos to Erik showing him the issues along with a narrative describing the problems on October 12. I had to call Bartlett Tree to get a status on October 16. It turns out, they did not visit my property on October 14, as promised. They also never followed up to re-schedule. I am using another company. They wasted my time. Embarrassingly poor service. read more
