This place is your typical mod mex taco place, but very cute. My biggest gripe while visiting is that they do not tell you the mushroom taco has meat on it, which is a little annoying for a vegetarian. Nowhere on the menu did it state chicken, yet mine came out with chicken and i ended up taking a bite out of it before realizing there was chicken. Not only this, but this in turn means there are only 2 vegetarian taco options (cauliflower and falafel). This should really be something you state on the menu as this can be quite deceiving to people who dont eat meat. I thought the rockfish shrimp bowl's sauce a little too overwhelmingly sweet, but would highly recommend the duck and fish tacos. This review is based on the steak quesadilla. We used to love the steak they used. Now it seems to be changed to some kind of a sesame beef-jerky type. It's terrible. Please bring back the steak that you used to use! We ordered today and the steak was so tough and chewy. Won't be ordering for a while unless it goes back to the way it used to be. read more

So the atmosphere is awesome, service for the most part is great as well. I Work in the area and have been here a few times for lunch and dinner. The food is just OK. The tamales are great, the guac is pretty good (except for one time where it tasted like nothing but lime) drinks are good, but the tacos are nothing to brag about. I get my usual tacos in NYC where I live... La Esquina, La Superior... Even a taco truck called Endless Summer are all better than these tacos at Bar Taco. And when taco is in the name, they have to be amazing and they are not. They are soggy, the tortilla does not hold up, and they are just bland tacos. I give it 3.5 because everything else is really good, and the atmosphere is something Stamford needs more of. ALOT of character, and the pics are really cool. Great Service - the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Great food - the guacamole is fresh and you should definitely try the baja fish and sesame ribeye tacos, and the corn, and the plantains. Great margaritas - not made from a mix, made with fresh ingredients. This is basically a tapas bar, so when you order three tacos, they are small, tiny really. If you are hungry and looking to eat a satisfying meal, I highly recommend sharing a large guac, some corn and plantains. read more

This concept is great but it can get less enjoyable when it comes on service. My corn off the cob had a piece of hard plastic, kind of the ones that contains salad. Had the manager approached the table but it didn't mean anything since never apologized or complimented our table with anything. Food at this place was so good, we had a spicy chicken bowl and sesame ribeye bowls and the chicken empanadas. So much flavor in all the dishes. Better then than the food were the drinks, old thymer and hibiscus mezcalita tasted incredible, so flavorful. what a treat. I am new in town and happen to live fairly close to Bartaco. On a Friday night my fiance and I wanted some dinner and decided on bartaco for some light snacks to share. Around 6PM on a Friday and this place was PACKED. Luckily, we were able to grab some seats at the end of the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender who grabbed our drink order. No draft beers, but a decent craft can selection, fresh squeezed juices for their cocktails and a variety of wines all at affordable prices. The menu at bartaco is a variety of small plates, taco varieties and some rice bowls. For veg/vegan they have a surprisingly large variety of options including falafel, portobello and cauliflower. The tacos range from 2.50 - 3.50 and are pretty small so about three per person would fill you up. Everything we ordered was delicious, refreshing and just the right amount of food to fill you up without being stuffed. This small restaurant is beautiful, huge windows in the front providing tons of natural light and I can see this being a fun spot in the summer to sit back with a few margs and enjoy the day. The bar service was excellent, friendly and efficient. You essentially order you drinks and then just use a pen/paper to choose your food. Can't wait to come back here and try some more of the yummy dishes and drinks! read more

Let me start off by saying I have been going to Bartaco frequently since Katie Dileo was the manager at the Stamford location. I bounce back from Port Chester to Stamford all the time it is by far my favorite taco spot of all time. But today I was treated the worst I have ever been treated at any restaurant in my whole entire life. The manager made comments that made me feel uncomfortable, insecure, and rushed. I didn't get a name which I should of but he did mention he was the General Manager and before I left I picked up a business card and the name on it was Adam Khan and stated he had the title of General Manager so I'm assuming it was him. He made one racist remark stating that "I'm sure you love the watermelon way more than me" why is that because I am of darker skin complexion?? I also felt rushed when he asked "can I get you dessert or the check." I honestly have never made yelp reviews. I decided to today because I had such anger and such a drive to see justice. And to see if anyone can help me get more information on how to get in contact with his bosses. This is outrageous and I will not stand for it. I also ask anyone that has the skin complexion like me to please stand and boycott this restaurant until they get new management it is not being run right anymore and this isn't my first run in with a situation like this and the manager at Bartaco this is my 2nd and I regret not complaining the first time around about it!!!!! read more

This place is surprisingly affordable when you subtract the drinks from the bill, but the port Chester revivers are can't miss so it ends up being somewhat on the expensive side. All the tacos are good, but bite size. Recommend the fried oyster, pork belly, and chicken. Also, the half chicken they have on the menu can be deep fried. Churros are great for dessert. Great low key Mexican food. No reservations means it's nearly impossible to get in and n a weekend night, especially during the summer. We got in on a weeknight relatively early (around 5!) and had a great experience. The staff is friendly and helpful especially since this isn't a traditional ordering experience- definitely recommend 2-4 tacos! The portobello taco was SO GOOD! What can I say? The food is great! For $9 I can get a very filling portion of tacos that are flavorful, fun and easy to eat. The noise level... well, maybe that can't be helped. The bartaco in Port Chester mitigates the sound levels by having ample outdoor space. With none of that here, this bartaco is LOUD. If you're dining alone, go for it. If you want to hear the person next to you, consider going next door to the slightly more expensive but much quieter Barcelona. read more

Simple tacos for a good price. If you were hungry you could probably eat one of each taco and get a taste of everything. Best bar far restaurant in stamford cucumber margeritas to die for !! This spot has the best management. We were there tonight my husband and I we sat at the bar. Definitely will return! I went to Bartaco while visiting some friends from college and I was very happy with my experience. Walking in, we were greeted right away by a warm and friendly hostess. While waiting for a table to open up, we waited at the bar and enjoyed some really tasty cocktails. I had the margarita in early celebration of Cinco de Mayo ;). It was delicious. When we sat, I was surprised to see how inexpensive the menu was. $2.50 tacos!!! We ordered a bunch; beef, chicken, fish, pork. I was really happy with all of them, especially the fish. Our waiter took very good care of us throughout the night. One thing I really liked was that the new bald manager with glasses came over to check on our table and all of the others throughout the night. I've worked in many restaurants in New York City and it was refreshing to be out of state and still kinda feel like home. Great cocktails, good food, and wonderful staff. Excellent tacos. They are extremely flavorful. They are small and it's hard to judge how many you may want. The sesame ribeye is good, with a little Asian flare but the chicken taco is my favorite - very flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy. Both the times I went to Bartaco in the past it was awful service. The food is good, but I wish there were larger portions for the tacos.

There is always a wait for this place, but we always wait because the food is great. We've had nothing but great customer service there. All the staff are friendly. Everything we have tried has been very yummy. It's amazing how cheap the food is for the quality and quantity that you receive. Love the food here & if you're not getting drinks it's very reasonably priced. Once you start getting into the drink arena the prices are a little much & the drinks are weak (measured drinks which are not my fav), however I will say the drinks are very fresh. Meh it's ok. The biggest draw is the organic ingredients. I wanted some beef enchiladas but they didn't really have normal enchiladas. They were stacked like a pancake and it looked like a big plate of poop with dark brown poop sauce.
