I finally made my way to bartaco. People have been telling me for several years now to come out here and give it a try, especially since I have been to Taco Bamba, and they make a killer taco. This was a good taco too, but to a much smaller degree (hehe). The tacos are really tasty, but they also other non-taco offerings if you want something more than just that savory filled offering originating from Mexico. They also have their own system which works real well. I got myself six tacos (yeah, six). The tacos are small, and I can probably pack away about a dozen of these in a sitting. But for my first experience, I tried six and they were all pretty good, and the value for the six was great too. When the staff made a mistake, they were quick in apologizing and correcting it, something more restaurants should do, but quite frankly, do not. After the tacos I felt I had to go for a little bit extra, so I decided to try the churros for dessert. Even though I finished them, I cannot recommend them. Despite being coated in cinnamon sugar, these lack and substance and flavor, despite being served with a chocolate dipping sauce. They just taste hot and fried, and for $7, these are way overpriced. When I received my bill, I also received a survey. Make sure to fill out the survey because you get a free taco token for your next visit! Do not take this lightly. Fill out the survey. I love this chain. The food is fresh and filling without feeling bloated or full of junk food. Their guac is smooth and creamy. Tuna bowl is always fresh and filling. I highly recommend the pomegranate lemonade. It's refreshing and light! They do have pick up but we ate inside. They have a lot of masks, gloves and clear partitions throughout the restaurant. No bar seating is currently allowed. It is all contactless. You order and pay through your phone and they bring it to you! The service was quick and friendly. Perfect place to satisfy a craving for Taco Tuesday. They have a good variety of tacos and if you're feeling extra hungry the rice bowls hit the spot. They use brown rice and top it with some veggies so you can feel a bit healthier when you eat it. Must get: Tacos - Pork belly, mushroom Rice bowl - pork belly, duck Tip: Ask for habanero sauce it's both spicy and tangy and helps to give your meal an extra kick. Our food came out in 15 minutes increments( so one person would be done long before the next persons entree came out) I've worked in the restaurant industry before and each place I worked at is required to bring everything together. The other tables around us all had their food come out together. There were only 2-3 other tables in the restaurant at the time not including us so it definitely wasn't busy. On the upside, the food was amazing, we had the poke bowl, baja fish tacos, pork belly tacos, chicken tacos, tuna tacos, and the plantains. The fresh juice Paloma from the bar was the best I have ever had. The inside/outside seating was nice, but it made the atmosphere very loud. I would have given this place 5 stars except the "in-app" ordering did not work as we could not link them to 1 bill. We ended up ordering on paper and were told that whenever we put the dragonfly card in the holder, a server would be right over. That wasn't really true, it didn't seem too busy (7:30-9:00pm), but getting a server to come to our table was almost impossible. Very fast service and very good food. I paid online through the table's QR code and within minutes, our food came! The server checked on us constantly and made sure everything was okay. Revisited this spot on a weekend visit to the area. Service was fast. We utilized the waitlist and were seated fairly quickly. Some of the best tacos I've ever had! I had the portobello, Brussel sprout, and cauliflower taco!! The Portobello was good (not my favorite), but I cannot recommenced the other 2 enough! So good! Overall I liked the quick service and atmosphere of this place. It makes it easy to order and pay. Most of the food/sides were great. I did think the tacos were on the small side given each are $4-5 and the shrimp taco only had 3 tiny shrimp which was pretty sad. Get the fish f*cking tacos. Holy hell they were perfection. I tried 5 others and still went and ordered 3 more fish. The slaw was amazing with the perfectly breaded fish omg. Now this place has a cool concept of ordering on your phone and starting a tab which gives the restaurant less worry about hiring servers. It saddens me that post Covid=lack of servers. Ohhh boyyy. This is going to be a fun review to write. Our experience with ordering delivery from Bartaco in Reston was nothing short of hilarious for all the wrong reasons. My fav spot for taco in reston, it use to be 5 star before covid but now I will give it a 4. The service is always great both sitting at table and bar. My fav here is the Oyster Taco and Street Corn. I have been here twice and it has been such a good experiences each time. I really like the mushroom and falafel tacos. The fried plantains were not something I usually go for, but they were really good. The cocktails are also well made. I tried the espresso martini and paloma fresca. It was pretty loud in the restaurant so it was pretty hard to hear, but that was my only issue. read more

This place is raved about by one of our friends so we went over the weekend, and it was good. The tacos were yummy, the drinks were nice, and the atmosphere is buzzing. It is certainly a busy (and nice!) place and rightfully so. I will note that their tech is pretty advanced compared to other dining places so you should note that your party will only interact with a staff member as they seat you. Love the Reston location for its outdoor set up! It's located on the corner and is easy to get to with multiple parking garages near by. Bartaco always has a great vibe with a lounge feel to it. Bartaco is awesome! Their tacos are delicious and on the small side so you can try different ones without getting overstuffed. Their guacamole is great. I love their rice bowls and churros too. It's a good menu. You order from your phone and your food comes quickly and with a smile. The servers don't bother you unless you put a card into the card holder on your table. Bartaco is a chain-restaurant that makes pretty good tacos (as the name would hopefully suggest). Definitely going for that kinda hipster vibe to make it feel like a local specialty taco joint by using little tin trays instead of plates, etc. but it's a cute aesthetic if that does it for you. Pros: Service is quick and attentive. You have a rip-off sheet and golf pencil at your table and you select which items your table would like to order on one combined sheet. You place your dragonfly card in the stand at the end of your table when you would like your server to come by and leave it down until you would like something else. Pretty efficient all around. The food is good quality and seems consistent- the duck quesadilla and the vegetarian portobello taco are equally tasty for example. [FYI can't say I found anything on the menu that would be vegan as it comes?] The corn fritters and sauce are delish! Cozy environment, dimly lit for a relaxed evening, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Cons: It is a very limited menu, so check online before you go because it may not have something for everyone depending on how traditional or adventurous your group is. The food is over-spiced a bit. Spice is important to bring the flavor of food out, but if it burns your lips and you can't taste the meat itself, it's just a texture at that point. The guac is over spiced so you can't taste the avocado. You have to pay for parking and can only do so with a smartphone app and credit card. Sundays are free parking. read more

The food is tasty but the portions are smallish for the prices you pay and this is the only time in my life I've left a Tex-Mex restaurant and been hungry a couple of hours later. I enjoyed the carnitas and carne asada tacos but when they say they're 2-3 bites, take that literally. The plantains were excellent and the guacamole was enjoyable as well. I liked that they used a green salsa for the chips and salsa and the chips are round tostadas that you break rather than normal tortilla chips, which was interesting. I enjoyed my lunch and I'm glad I tried this place but you'll get more food for a lower price at a normal Tex-Mex place so I'm not sure if I'd rush to come back here. read more

Fair warning, as of right now, they have no waiters so you gotta pay online with your order! The food also comes out pretty speedy so it's a perfect spot for anyone who has the nighttime HUNGER PAINS. The service was super friendly and location was pretty. Solid but you know who likes the prices being jacked up for tacos. I know it's typical for this area but they aren't as good as Senior Ramon's or as good as Taco Bamba. We came for a cocktail and Mike (the manager trainee from Boston) was so friendly. He jumped behind the bar to help out the bartender who was busy restocking the bar. His anejo margarita was delicious. But the best part is he worked with me to creat the best cocktail (tequila, Chambord, fresh lime juice and a splash of agave; shaken and topped with a sparkling wine floater). Family meals during Covid is a great idea and we try to go to as many restaurants as possible to support them during these tough times. Bartaco has a taco kit and a Roasted Chicken family kit both for $49.50. We finally got around to ordering the taco kit. Selections below: Pick 2 taco fillings: Ribeye Steak Fried Fish Oysters (as an add on) Sides: Chipotle Slaw Mexican Corn Rice Beans (as an add on) They provide corn tortillas (4 each for 4 people). Chips and salsa verde are also included. We pick up and on the way home the food smells awesome...can't wait to get home. Everything is nicely packed but the overwhelming consensus is....mehhh. The fish is fried nicely and the oysters are quite good. The steak is decent and they provide a kimchi slaw with a sauce. One big miss is the corn tortillas..they seem like they are straight out of a bag from Giant and are plopped into some tin foil to look like they are made in the restaurant. They also tend to rip apart while eating the taco. I'd give 3.5 stars as the flavors aren't bad but the overall experience is just OK. read more

I love Bartaco and can't wait until they come to DC. I made the journey all the way out here one day and it did not disappoint. Although the tacos are quite small, they are very tasty and flavorful. My favorite tacos were the pork belly, baja fish, and the falafel. The chorizo taco was just okay, perhaps it would have been better if the chorizo was warm when I got it. The fried avocado taco is interesting. Not super amazing and not bad, just interesting. The street corn (off the cob) is flavorful as well. The drinks are fantastic, but I'm sad to see that the happy hour (or "high tide") prices keep going up. $7.50 as they're currently priced at is a bit much during happy hour. They still taste good though. The Hey Miss Dragonfly is light and refreshing but much stronger than you'd expect, it's probably my favorite drink here. The Sanguina was just okay, I honestly expected to like it more and was expecting more flavor. The Smoke on the Water is good, but you can't really go wrong with mezcal; this drink is pretty strong too. The one drink I absolutely did not like though was the Anchojito, it just tasted like a really bad attempt at a mojito and I could not finish it. I will say that the service here is fantastic. One of the bartenders mentioned to the managers that I was visiting from DC (I mean, it is quite far) and throughout the course of my time there several managers came over to introduce themselves and offer me their favorite tacos and cocktails off the menu.
